Lost passport, HELP!!!

I have read so many threads on here about lost passports, but I’m just at a loss as to what to do.
I’m due to go on our belated honeymoon to Thailand on Thursday, but cannot find my passport.

I have spent the whole of yesterday and today looking, even got my parents round to help as a fresh pair of eyes.
I have looked EVERYWHERE, every bag, coat, drawer (drawers pulled all the way out and the underneaths etc checked) in every single cupboard and drawer, under the microwave, washing machine etc.

I last had it about a month ago as we went to Venice for 2 nights, took a 15 minute taxi from the airport to home, have called the airport and taxi and nothing has been handed in. All I can think is that I must have thrown it out!!

I need a 7 day fast track appointment (will of course miss my flight, but some honeymoon is better than none), but worried about the strikes happening from tomorrow.

Has anyone got any recent experience of going to the passport office for an immediate passport?

I’m sick to my stomach 😩

Or postpone the holiday if you can perhaps?

I’m certain I haven’t left the house with it since coming home 5 weeks ago, I’ve check my photos, emails and calendar and I cannot see any reason why I would have needed it! I also work from home and have only been in the office a handful of times.

I’ve looked everywhere - in every bag, coat, purse, bit of paper work, in the sofa, under the mattress, behind the radiators etc. don't own a printer so can’t be there 😩

the bag was a little carry on bag and I also took a small handbag with me as it was ryanair, I’ve looked in both them and my husbands coat/bags. How could a passport vanish so easily?!

I have honestly checked every single place you have all offered up and my only explanation is I’ve thrown it away, as my husband thinks he put it in the drawer along with his.

i think my only hope is getting a 7 day appointment if one comes up tomorrow, or I might drive there in desperation anyway, but I just know I’ll be turned away 😕

You can do a 1 day appointment for an adult passport. Phone everyday this week and ask for an appointment. Good luck!!

Phone who? The passport office won't make appointments by phone even if you say you can't use a computer they just tell you to go online

I lost mine once. I eventually found that it had fallen behind the bedside chest of drawers. I didn't see it when I was looking 👀 underneath the bed etc as it was wedged between the wall and the chest of drawers on top of the skirting board. So my advice is move the furniture.

@bcalice It’s got to be there somewhere! 🤞🏼 you’ve not put it in whatever luggage you are planning on taking on Thursday ready for your trip? Put it away with any travel currency you have?

Didn’t need it to fill in some kind of “advanced passenger information” online that some airlines ask for?
Not tucked inside DHs passport? Completely empty the drawers 1 by 1 - is it tucked inside a book or an envelope or something?
You’ve not taken it out since your last trip to use as ID?

Its not in a passport case or holder thing? I hunted high and low for mine once and was in a right flap thinking I’d lost it - it was right infront of my face 😅 in my head I was looking for the passport and because I couldn’t see that colour my head just obviously didn’t register the fact that it was in a black and white striped cover infront of my face 🙈

I helped a friend find a ‘lost’ passport. It was in the usual place but she’d been given a black passport holder for Xmas and had put her passport in that.

She’d forgotten about the passport holder and panicked when she couldn’t find the red passport.

About 8 years ago I realised my passport wasn’t valid for imminent travel. I remember getting an appointment at Newport? and driving there to get passport same day. It cost extra but I think I managed this all in three days.

Im not sure if the passport office still operates likes that.

Phone the passport office…. But ok… She can go online then and book one :/

@Isheabastard I might be wrong but I think you have to have the old passport for the same day service. I don’t think you can do it for a lost passport.

BingleBongleBoo · 03/04/2023 21:24

In your car? Glove compartment? Seat pocket?

Moonlightsonatas · 03/04/2023 21:24

Has it fallen behind the chest of drawers in your bedroom?

@bcalice I’m more invested in this than I should be OP - I need to know 🤣 did you find it? Are you going on holiday? Are you camped outside a passport office?!

No idea how I made two threads on this, but see the full drama here:

Basically no, didn’t find it, flying to Belfast tomorrow for appointment, and had to postpone the holiday one week at a hefty cost 🤦🏼‍♀️
