says Jacob Rees Mogg as he launches his "Battle for Births" by pressing for further increases (if not outright abolition) of the retirement age.

He could tell me it was Christmas on the 25th of December and he'd still probably find a way to be wrong. Fucking pillock.

Blimey, you should write for the Daily Mail if you don't already OP.

Best clickbait title in ages 😂

BennyBlancofromtheBronx · 02/04/2023 16:20

I thought that the tory stance was that the UK was full but it seems that at the same time we need more people.

Sillybanana · 02/04/2023 16:23

I detest JRM, he is so horribly out of touch but loves to wind everyone up at the same time with attention seeking soundbites like this. Just vile.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 02/04/2023 16:26

This from a man who has six children and boasted that he'd never changed a nappy in his life.

Jog on, pal.

Well Jacob if I had oodles of money and a nanny perhaps I would have had more but I don't so that's it.

YukoandHiro · 02/04/2023 16:37

What @BennyBlancofromtheBronx said

readbooksdrinktea · 02/04/2023 16:40

Six kids, a nanny and not changing one diaper in his life.

Shut up and have several seats.

megletthesecond · 02/04/2023 16:41

Christ, he's a knob.

Beezknees · 02/04/2023 16:42

Great, is his party going to remove the 2 child benefit cap then? Because only wealthy people can afford 3+ children without having to claim ANY benefits at all.

GloomySkies · 02/04/2023 16:44

1 in 4 British children living in poverty. Make people breed some more, push it to 1 in 3, and we might be able to get kids in the factories and up the chimneys again like in the good old days, instead of wasting state money trying to educate the working classes.

megletthesecond · 02/04/2023 16:46

bee or they'll reduce university tuition fees, scrap the bedroom tax and change the child benefit earnings threshold......

BennyBlancofromtheBronx · 02/04/2023 16:20

I think the implication is we need the right sort of people.

I’m baffled at the idea that having more kids will solve the pension problem. Obviously it’s a short term fix, because the kids born now will be tax payers in 20 years time, thereby helping fund the increasing elderly population. But then in another 50 years time those kids will be elderly people wanting their pensions. And in another 10-20 years time they’ll be the elderly people we’re struggling to support. So it doesn’t actually solve a problem. It’s basically borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

LadyKenya · 02/04/2023 16:54

Yeah, he's a plonker!

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/04/2023 16:54

Twat lol

Buildingthefuture · 02/04/2023 16:57

I’ve always thought he had a remarkable resemblance to the Children Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! I am financially independent, child free by choice, but pay a fuck ton of tax. I’m not quite sure why he’s so scared of me??? Even If I could have had children like he did (with no responsibility, no actual work, with a wife/nanny who does everything) I still wouldn’t have done it, because I would have been a shit parent. Don’t think I’m his target demographic 🤣🤣🤣

ArcticSkewer · 02/04/2023 17:00

Does ReesMogg pay any tax? Not much use him having 6 kids to save the nation if they are all tax avoiders as well.

JaneyGee · 02/04/2023 17:02

The world is insanely and dangerously overpopulated. In 1900, there were a billion humans. By 1960 that had trebled to three billion. By 2000 it was six billion. Today it's eight billion. Africans still have five children, on average, and the African population is going to double by 2050. It's ok for people like Mogg, with his live-in nannies and giant detached house. What about a poor woman living in a tin shack in Nigeria with six kids? How is she supposed to educate herself? Or build a career? Or simply live a quiet and civilised life? Family planning is the quickest way to cure poverty and misery, always has been.

Besides, with climate change poised to cause havoc, humans all over the world need to have fewer, not more, kids. The population of the UK is heading for 70 million. Essex, where I live, is hellishly overcrowded, and houses are being built on every scrap of free land. Imagine if the population of this island hits 80 million, or 100 million. Kiss goodbye to the green belt, that's for sure.

Agree. We need fewer people on the planet, not more. It baffles me when people don’t understand this.

autumnboys · 02/04/2023 17:05

@KittyAlfred very true, but it won’t be his problem by then because he’ll be dead, which I often think is a key factor in Tory decision making (all/any of them, not just JRM)

I dislike JRM immensely.

twolilacs · 02/04/2023 17:39

Yeah, that's just what an overpopulated planet needs right now - more people. Confused

What a dickhead.

This, in a nutshell.

Obviously our population rate has plummeted to 1.6 children per woman and I'm really surprised that it hasn't been higher up on the political agenda to be honest. But anyway, it will even itself out eventually as the above PP says. For a generation or two there will be a shortfall of people to pay for the older peoples pension but after that the numbers should even out.

Until humans hopefully become extinct.
