DH hasn't noticed my new haircut....(lighthearted)....anyone else's partner as unobservant.

I've had quite a drastic new haircut this morning, we both WFH, DH hasn't yet noticed. (He's now had 4 seperate conversations and lunch with me). He knew I was going, but is so wrapped up in his own day, that just hasn't noticed. How long does it normally take your partner to notice?

I got about 6" chopped off once. DH didn't notice and I CBA to tell him. I think he might have "got" it a few days later. 🤷‍♀️

worried4698643 · 28/03/2023 15:46

An ex didn't notice my radical change from blonde to brown for 5 days. It cemented my view that be paid such little attention to me.

mynameiscalypso · 28/03/2023 15:52

My DH did the same yesterday. No comment at all. Every Teams call I've had so far has elicited comments from my colleagues though so I'll take that as a win.

TeenLifeMum · 28/03/2023 15:56

It once took me a few hours to spot dh had shaved his full, bushy beard! I kind of clocked something was different but we were doing something with dc etc and then a bit later I announced “oh your face is naked!” And he was laughing at me saying, yes, been like it all morning! 😬 ooops - I guess I know what he looks like so just didn’t look at him properly in that moment. He, on the other hand, would notice my hair…. He’d be a great police witness. I would not however.

Harrriet · 28/03/2023 15:56

Mine the same. I lost 10 stone and he didn't notice that either!

MrsBunnyEars · 28/03/2023 15:58

DM once painted the front door a very different colour, which DF failed to notice for a week.

Pencilsaremylife · 28/03/2023 16:05

I don’t think my DH has ever noticed changes in my hair and we have been married for a long time, I used to joke I would get it all cut off and paint my head green just to see if he would notice. The only time he noticed anything was when I stopped wearing my glasses, even then he only said I looked odd without them, just as well he has many good points otherwise I would be measuring up for a new patio.

bilbodog · 28/03/2023 16:09

I once bought a small bedroom chair from an antique shop which my DH didnt notice in our bedroom, on his side of the bed, for 6 months !!

tootiredtobother · 28/03/2023 16:13

yup, mine won't notice, new hairdos, weight loss and even said I had blue eyes once, I DON,T I HAVE GREEN, but I get a scratch on my car ! he can see that at 100 paces, bastard....

Xrays · 28/03/2023 16:17

I dyed my hair from brown to bright red (really bright red) the other week and neither dh nor Ds aged 10 noticed at all. And everyone else noticed straight away. Shows how much they actually look at me! 😳🙄

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/03/2023 16:19

Yes mine. He once noticed at bedtime and said um it's not you usual style whilst scratching his head. No shit Sherlock.

Comedycook · 28/03/2023 16:19

I got a haircut and blonde highlights put in my dark brown hair at a cost of £140. Get home and DH says "so what time are you off to get your hair done then?"

😂

Rebel2 · 28/03/2023 16:25

My dad notices nothing
He's so forgetful my mum got married to him on her birthday so he had one date to remember
I'm an only child and he had to ring me to ask my DOB... Confused

Can tell you the reg plate of every car he's owned though

WeeOrcadian · 28/03/2023 16:50

It took my DH 3 days to notice that I'd had my nose pierced

I do wear glasses which kind of covered the stud, somewhat.... 3 days though

MargaretThursday · 28/03/2023 17:01

I had 18" chopped off once. About 3 days later dh said "hold on, there's something a bit different about you... you haven't had your hair cut have you?"

I use this wonderful lack of observance to my own advantage. I once put three 6' bookshelves in the living room. Yes, the living room that he walks through at least 6 times every day to get to the kitchen diner. It took him around a fortnight before he asked if they were new. 🤣

TitInATrance · 28/03/2023 17:16

I had 6” chopped off some time ago and layers cut in - previously bra strap level and all one length.

My then DH did not notice, and neither did my mum or teenage DD. All work colleagues clocked it instantly.

QueefQueen80s · 28/03/2023 21:24

My ex would definitely notice. My two close male friends do. But this seems common with men, do you think it's the same thing that causes them to not be able to find stuff right infront of them!?

kittybiscuits · 28/03/2023 21:26

5 days after I had 30cm cut off my hair, my ex asked if I was wearing new eye shadow.

Eyesopenwideawake · 28/03/2023 21:29

On my 50th birthday I went off to get my hair done. Got back and DP said "wow - that looks amazing!" Except that the hairdresser was sick so it was exactly the same as when I left home! Damned if he did, and damned if he didn't! 😂

MysweetAudrina · 28/03/2023 21:37

Dh wouldn't notice which is great cause he doesn't notice all the new clothes, beauty treatments etc that I spend money on. My kids on the other hand can spot a different colour nail polish or a lip wax. It's like I am their constant and any change in appearance disrupts that and leaves them displeased.

JimBob61 · 28/03/2023 21:39

Yes, dh recently commented on an ornament on our mantle piece and asked if it was new.
I just scrolled through my phone, found a picture of ds standing in front of the mantle piece and the same ornament- six years ago.
I passed him the phone with a withering look.

Talking to Ds 23 recently about my plans to redecorate the sitting room. I commented that I would need to change the artwork.
"We have artwork in the sitting room" says he.
Later on he came into the sitting room and was completely mind blown that we do indeed have artwork and it's been there years.

He obviously gets it from his father.

EnGarde · 28/03/2023 21:44

I once went from long to shoulder length, barely able to tie up length. I hate to run a stereotypical family but DH didn't notice, DS10 didn't notice for a lunch and afternoon. DD8 came home at supper time from a friend's, took one look at me and burst into tears as I'd cut my hair without telling her!

Tilllly · 28/03/2023 21:47

My DH is so terrified of not noticing, I came home from a bikini wax to "oooh your hair looks nice"

It's all in the training 🤣

It took DH six months to notice that I'd had a little dragonfly tattoo on my right wrist. The kids started a book on how long it would take for him to spot it.
