Yesterday's haul-

Black Ted Baker jacket £15

Armani straight leg jeans £7

Very happy indeed!!

D20 · 25/03/2023 17:34

I’ve been wanting to try some Lucy and Yak trousers. Great deals.

Mabelface · 25/03/2023 17:36

D20, as was I! They fit beautifully. I'm a 12, fairly narrow hips. They're high waisted and don't accentuate my stomach. They were £119 when they were first released!

Okay, this is going back 2 months, but a beautiful Max Mara coat for a tenner.

Today I was disproportionately excited to find a Noel Streatfeild children’s book which I’d never read, or indeed even heard of. Honestly, there’s a good reason why it’s obscure, but still, it made me happy.

Which NS book?

I love finding a new children's book I haven't read by an author I love.

@MargaretThursday , Meet the Maitlands. It was very poor Grin

Given your user name you might be interested in another charity shop buy. A 50p first edition of Thursday’s Child, with a handwritten personal dedication from NS herself.

Greenfairydust · 25/03/2023 17:50

This morning I bought:

-Long flowery dress, red and black, £12. Would be £40-£50 or more in shops.

-Curtains (brand new/still in the package) £6. So pleased with this as I am buying my first house and getting everything to decorate it from markets/second hand shops.

I love charity shops!

Oh my days! So jealous!! Painted Garden and Ballet shoes and all the Gemma books were a mainstay of mine age 8-10!

PeskyRooks · 25/03/2023 17:56

I am a bit obsessed with collecting certain children's books so today I got:
A Shirley Hughes one Daisy Saves The Day
2 1970s Rupert annuals
Brambley Hedge Summer Story and
Meg's Eggs!

WonderingWanda · 25/03/2023 17:59

Crikey, I need to go to some different charity shops. Round here they are full of tat from Primark or George.

Snap! But our local ones also charge £££ for the privilege of well worn primark or similar. I've given up with them now, as I find I can buy new for same price or cheaper.

Streamside · 25/03/2023 18:06

A folio edition of Remains of the Day for 90p and two Denby casserole dishes for £1.00 each.

LarryStylinson · 25/03/2023 18:07

We went to a charity jumble sale today. £5 admission per person. Take as much as you like.

Kahuna watch, Karen Millen Handbag, half a dozen boxed wooden vintage baby toys made in 'West Germamy', handful of jellycat toys, marble and wood serving/chopping board, Doc Marten sandals, a Matalan corduroy coat, and lots of crochet stuff
Oh and the tween filled a bag of accessories for her room.

BCBird · 25/03/2023 18:09

Thst good. I put lots of weight on,got lots of nice clobber at home that is too small so I might pop to charity shop to see what I can find.

MorrisZapp · 25/03/2023 18:12

Got a pair of jeans that fit me perfectly (how dare you call me a size 16 though Stradivarius you c@#ts) for six pounds fifty.

Which is what I paid for a pint of Spanish lager in an amateur football ground in Fife last Saturday.

SunhatsAndFlipFlops · 25/03/2023 18:23

What good finds!
I love charity shops. The town I live in has some fab ones & they are very cheap. I’m on mat leave, so go a few times a week - it’s quite addictive!

This weeks haul…

5 lovely children’s books - all kids books are 10p each!

A Next rain suit for my toddler, looks brand new £1.00

3 wooden toys for baby dc.
3 for £1.00

A pair of asos design straight leg jeans for £2.00 - I’ve recently had a baby and in between sizes, nothing really fits & I don’t want to pay £30+ for a new pair, so I was chuffed with this find.

Some random craft bits for toddler - sequins, stickers, felt, card etc.
£1.00 for all of it.

A lovely ceramic plant pot - decent size too,£2.00

I'm going on a charity shop trip with my friend on Monday, we make a day of it a few times a year.

We go mainly to the large warehouse for the county's hospice chain of shops. It's where anything goes to that doesn't get sold. Often full of junk & tatty bits, but some real hidden treasures to be found. Items are £1 or £2.

Last time for £11.50 I got - a Jasper Conran skater dress, a Per Una coat that I wear every day, 2 pairs of kids' ski gloves, a bag, a woollen skirt from M&S, 2 jumpers, a long-sleeved tshirt from Next, 2 kids' games, 3 jumpers for DH including a really nice Next zippy & 3 cardis for me! 😁

Jealous! Never seen that one for sale at a decent price.

I've a good edition of both "Thursday's Child" and "Far to Go", but the only one I have signed by NS is an anthology.

Joterrin · 25/03/2023 18:35

I picked up 2 special editions of spiderman homecoming & infinity war for £1.
a bamboo lunch box, Santa cookie cutter & a Mario wallet for £1.

This week I’ve picked up a star principles top for £4 & joggers for my eldest for 10p.
6 Pokémon movies for £4 that aren’t online.

I love charity shopping & my youngest requested we go for her birthday.

THisbackwithavengeance · 25/03/2023 18:41

My haul today:

A BNWT White Company grey jumper for £7.

A Phase Eight black top for 99p.

M&S Grey jeans also 99p.

A black hoodie from ASOS for DD for 99p.

A Phase Eight blue dress for 99p but a size too small. I'm going to look at it every day and it will inspire me to lose weight!

The 99p items are from a charity shop that receives all the unsold items from other charity shops in the area. It's always heaving and you have to be sharp elbowed.

TheHound86 · 25/03/2023 18:42

I got these from a charity shop last week for £6.99. I love them but no idea who the woman is.

@LarryStylinson please can I see (or hear more about) your new jellycats. I’m not an expert but I love looking at them!!

user1471517095 · 25/03/2023 19:19

I've bought at charity shops in a local town for years, I don't know what's happened recently but there is just rubbish. Bobbley Primark and supermarket clothing. I have donated decent items - M & S Autograph and such like and never seen it for sale in the shop I left it at. And I do a weekly visit so find it unlikely all my items have been snapped up. I've come to the conclusion that the better items are sent to what are perceived as "More upmarket areas" and we're getting the tat.

Lilliflip · 25/03/2023 19:45

I got a fat face oatmeal cable cotton cardigan for £4 and a square necked ribbed principles t shirt for £3. Very pleased with both.
