What chores have you done this weekend?

I don’t feel like I’ve done much at all.

washing x 2
dishwasher x 2
made beds
hoovered downstairs (small house)
tidied and wiped round kitchen
put some clothes away
wiped round bathroom

That’s the very basics done so we can eat from clean dishes and have clean clothes to wear on Monday.

I wish I could motivate myself to do a lot more eg decluttering dc’s bedroom, cleaning the sink properly, mopping the floors, tidying the porch area, going to the tip with the stuff in the garden, taking a bag to the charity shop, washing the car.

I know it’s Mother’s Day but I’m the same every weekend!

Last weekend I stained some window sills I’d stripped last year! This weekend I’ve just done the usual housework stuff.
It’s hard to be motivated to do the bigger jobs when there are so many things that need doing day in, day out.

Mamamia7962 · 19/03/2023 15:33

I find if I write a list of jobs to do I'm more likely to do them, and then tick them off once done.

Lemonandorange · 19/03/2023 16:46

I reorganised the kitchen cupboards and changed the bedding after my period arrived in the middle of the night

That's it.
I don't plan on anything else until Monday although eventually I will need to catch up on laundry, scrub the stained carpet in my daughters room from her vomiting bug this week, prep the garden for the high winds forecast during the week, clean the bathroom grout, tidy up the laundry room and mop the whole house plus the general day to day stuff like sweeping, dishes, evening prep, morning prep

I have very unmanaged ADHD so doing literally anything is a struggle for me, not entirely sure how I get anything done if I'm honest but using a checklist helps a bit, maybe try that OP

Comedycook · 19/03/2023 16:51

I cleaned the oven... won't be doing that again for a while

mbosnz · 19/03/2023 16:55

Two weeks worth of ironing.
Got the washing and ironing up to date.
Washed the sheets and made up two main beds.
Scrubbed out the oven and its trays.
Scrubbed the toilets and wiped the basins.

That's pretty much it.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/03/2023 16:56

About four loads of laundry, ironing and hoovering plus tidying and cleaning the kitchen again, and again, and again. Dh has mopped floors, made dinners and cleaned the bathrooms. Kids stack and empty the dishwasher on repeat.

dementedpixie · 19/03/2023 16:59

Went to zumba class
Ironed dh work shirts and ds's school clothes (that's all I ever iron)
Did a wash and hung it up
Emptied dishwasher that dh put on and refilled it - it's back on
Am making a carrot cake to take to my mums tomorrow. Its finally out the oven
Washed the dishes I dont put in the dishwasher
Now having a cup of tea

notacooldad · 19/03/2023 17:00

None.
DH has done everything because I can't be arsed.

Glorieta · 19/03/2023 17:02

Washing x 2
Changed bed
Hoovered and polished
Bins
Will iron school uniform and my work clothes later

Thats more than enough for today!

EarringsandLipstick · 19/03/2023 17:06

At least 6 loads of washing, hanging out & ironing.

Around the multiple sports for my DC, I fitted in grocery shop, two fitness classes, a run, changed all sheets (DC helped), hoovered, washed flowers & cleaved bathrooms.

Feel on top of housework to a reasonable extent, only because it was St Patrick's Day so we had the day off.

I am trying to declutter several rooms but that's going v slowly.

Fromwetome · 19/03/2023 17:06

Haven't done anything, house is not only dirty but it's messy too, my partner swears we have equal work load in the house and my "standards are too high so just chill out a bit" so I've "chilled out" to see just how much I actually do compared to them and now I'm very close to living in squalor! I live with someone who has the mental age of an 8 year old when it comes to organising a house.

PleaseJustText · 19/03/2023 17:07

I binge watched sort your life out in 7 days on iPlayer. After the first episode I decided to watch it upstairs while clearing out my wardrobe. I have a bag of clothes that are too old and three bags of clothes that are a size too small. I feel so much better now. Though I've realised I only have 2 jumpers and 3 tops that are wearable so I need to buy a few more.

BertieBotts · 19/03/2023 17:08

I think what you've done is fine OP, I'd count that as a win really. I try to do dishwasher and wipe down kitchen counters every day plus a wash load (or I do loads in one day). DH tends to tidy the living room and usually does the dishwasher bit before I get to it.

I have done

Carboot sale yesterday - total waste, took 90% of it home, took about 50% of that straight to charity shop. Rest wouldn't fit in the car.
Reorganised rest of failed selling stuff
DH did dishwasher x3
Washing x3
Put away the last 2 weeks worth of washing I've been ignoring
Changed bedding (our bed)
Cleared out a sofa where we store the spare bedding including spraying it with bug stuff (carpet beetles)
DH hoovered the bedroom

This is a biggish weekend for me in terms of cleaning. Don't usually do that much.

Ragwort · 19/03/2023 17:16

Errr ... nothing really, I always work all day Saturday so prefer not to do any chores apart from cooking a very simple meal pizza. Today I tidied the dining room & cooked a roast lunch as my DM came for lunch .. DH cleared up. No laundry - DH did his own ... rest of the time is relaxing Smile.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/03/2023 17:21

Took the car to the garage
Took the cat the the vet
Cleaned the bathroom
Four loads of washing
Vacuumed
Ordered and unpacked a supermarket delivery ( DD helped)
Sorted out clothes in my wardrobe and DD sorted out clothes for Charity shop
DH has done all the dishwasher loading/unloading/putting away

Wrote A List of things that need done next weekend as DH and I have some annual leave

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 19/03/2023 17:27

4 loads of washing and drying plus all ironing and washing away. Stripped and remade all beds. Cleaned all 3 bathrooms, dusted and hoovered house. Cleaner kitchen. Batch cooked for the week. All yesterday as I had a quiet day today

Cuppaand2biscuits · 19/03/2023 17:29

Not loads, I don't usually do much housework at weekends as I only work 18 hours a week.
3 x loads of washing done and put away
Shirts ironed
Floor vacuumed
Dishwasher
Bathroom quick wipe
Changed our bed and dusted our bedroom.

MuddyFeet01 · 19/03/2023 17:30

Each job didn’t take very long so it didn’t seem much in a whole day. I did go shopping twice too.

I might polish downstairs soon as that’s an easy job and makes the house feel clean.

Teenage dc cooked so that was a bonus!

OP posts:
Slimjimtobe · 19/03/2023 17:32

I mopped and did the dishwasher
batch cooked X2
cleaned and organised the freezer
dh folded and put away clothes (unusual)
made dinner and supper both days

what I need to do soon - window cleaning and cleaning organising my clothes and dcs drawers (though could do this at their bedtime)

won’t do the windows til later in the week

Slimjimtobe · 19/03/2023 17:33

Just back from b&m so I might polish the sitting room and put the new cushion covers on and light candles and relax

Simonjt · 19/03/2023 17:34

I thought about doing some hoovering

Lorrymum · 19/03/2023 17:36

I feel tired just reading these!

MintJulia · 19/03/2023 17:37

Washing x 3
bathrooms x 2
kitchen x 1
a week's food shop
bought ds's Easter egg
took some hyacinths to ds's pseudo-gran
hoovered downstairs
weeded front flower borders
Pruned more leylandii 😤
made soup, and cooked three times

The ironing pile is waiting for me 😕

MintJulia · 19/03/2023 17:37

Oh, and I washed the kitchen floor. 😇

Chanel05 · 19/03/2023 17:43

Hoovered house, 4 loads of laundry washed (2 dried and 0 put away!), wiped bathrooms over, wiped kitchen over, 3x dishwasher on and unloaded.
