PSA - Close call - Can I remind you to always make sure your mic is off!

I'm listening to a meeting and have my camera off, There was a bit of build up to the first speaker, like they were going to make an interesting announcment, turns out they aren't but I thought my mic was off and nearly shouted out to my DH in the kitchen "They've got nothing interesting to talk about again, its the boring droney cunt" THEN REALISED MY MIC WAS STILL ON 😂

Thank god I bloody didn't 😬🤐

I think the key is always to remain in professional mode when you are attending a work meeting remotely-so no conversations with someone else in the house and no bad language.

My friend was in a teams meeting, thought she had her camera and mic off, but her mic was still on, and she went for a wee, and a poo.

My colleague was taking notes and at the same time presenting her screen to show the agenda. Anyhow, she clearly wasn’t paying much attention to the minutes because about 15 minutes into the meeting, the Civil service job site came up and she was clearly browsing it. The chair made some comment about there being a ‘glitch’ and then changed it to her screen 😆

I watching TV in the lounge, DH working in the home office. As his doorway was open I'd assumed he was just working on reports or something.
I shouted in "Good Lord Silent Witness is really shit these days" and imagine my surprise when a strange voice replied "I know, I don't bother watching it now".

Lesson learned, check if he's on a call before shouting and in his case if he is, shut the bloody door.
Fortunately colleague was most amused and agreed with my point. 😂

At our most recent team meeting someone forgot to turn off their mic & we were all treated to some heavy breathing that was drowning out what the boss was saying.

At another recent meeting the person taking the meeting didn't use a headset & we could barely hear him over the background noise in the office - Folk opening cans & eating crisps.

Well, I was in a training yesterday and was bored so trying to (not so) subtly adjust the filters on my zoom because the lighting was weird in my office. My hand slipped and I ended up adding a ridiculous looking hat to myself! I didn’t even realise the changes were live for everyone not just me as I couldn’t see the grid screen with the video editing screen open.

Then on the very top left of the screen I saw the presenter laugh and miss a beat…and then I realised everyone could see I had acquired a bloody top hat! 😂 I hid with my video and audio off for the rest of the session.

Presumably she went to the bathroom to do that so nobody would have seen or heard it? They just would have seen her leave her desk and then return some time later?

About 15 years ago, my mate worked in IT for the NHS. One morning he was setting up new user accounts, whilst also talking on a non work related message board (no it wasn't Mumsnet).

Someone on the messageboard called him a "donkey faced cunt", which he promptly copied and pasted in order to report the offending language to the mods.

He then went back to his work, copying and pasting the job title while creating the users. Except he neglected to copy, so 15 new staff members started their first day with "Donkey faced cunt" as their job title in their email signatures.

To noones surprise, he was fired.

I was on a large industry-wide call in the early days of TEAMS in lockdown. Majority had cameras off so those that had cameras on were visible on the screen.

Someone actually had their phone in the bathroom. Sound off. We were treated to them brushing their teeth!

I once gave myself an impromptu haircut using the ponytail method during a work Skype meeting. Managed to keep the camera off though.

Ahh his thread reminds me of when everyone started WFH during lockdown and most people hadn't used Teams/Zoom etc. Some very hilarious moments and plenty of cringe 😄I was working as a nurse at the time but stepped into a role halfway through second lockdown was lifted WFH. Reading those threads made me hyper careful, but in the early days my DH burped really loudly once not realising I was in a meeting and had my mic on.

Today I told my cat to shut up cause he was meowing very loudly at the office door. Thankfully it was our casual catch up!

Oh goodness, I nearly got caught out by this!!!

Very neatly shouted “Christ this is so fucking boring” to DH. Thankfully a delivery driver turned up and I instead shouted “Amazon”. 60 people suddenly paused to ask if I wanted to add anything. Whoops 😂

In the first hot summer of lockdown, my colleague stood up during a zoom call to adjust a fan next to his desk… he was wearing a shirt on the top and just a tiny pair white y-fronts on the bottom. So funny. The meeting didn’t last long as it descended into hysterics 😆

Husband had been trying to tell me something but I'd been in and out of calls and meetings all afternoon. He came into the room thinking I was free only to discover I was on a call and exclaimed 'Bloody Hell, not again!' I carried on talking, hoping it wouldn't be clear whose background person was responsible.

My sister was once getting dressed and her DH was on a Zoom call....she realised her clothes were on the airer in the office where her DH was sat so in order to not be seen by anyone on the call she crawled into the office on her hands and knees behind where her DH was sat just wearing her bra and knickers.

Of course, she wasn't out of shot and everyone could see her. Someone on the call piped up "alright down there Mrs Baxter?"

She cried when she told me, poor thing as she was mortified and I had to try very, very hard not to howl with laughter.
