Embarrassing fanny farts

NCed for this one. I'm 44 and in a senior corporate role.

For the last year I've been struggling with really loud embarrassing fanny farts. They usually happen when I've been sitting for a while and I can't stop them.

It's awful because I'm walking off to get a cuppa or go into a meeting and a loud fanny fart will come out, obviously the men assume it's a normal fart.

Weirdly it never happens at home.

That sounds really stressful. Have you tried wearing a tampon, it might act as a cork. I've got crohns disease so I completely understand the embarrassment when your body makes sounds out of your control.

If it's only happening at work I'm wondering if it could be something to do with what you are wearing
Tights?
Snug trousers?
Or are you sitting differently?

My pelvic floor isn't great after 4 kids. I only wear tights at work so may it's that 😪

Definitely do not stick a tampon in if you don’t have your period. That’s how you get toxic shock. You could try a mooncup though.
Overall you just need to do shedloads of pelvic floors

Please nobody ever wear tampons apart from during a period.

So if its genuine.....

You need to work on your core / pelvic floors.

You could have a fistula which causes gas from the rectum to pass to vagina due to hole / space which shouldn’t be there. It can be caused by childbirth. It does sound odd given you aren’t doing anything that would cause Air to enter such as exercise etc . If you are a bit nervous or more uptight at work this could cause trapped gas which is transferring into the vagina through the fistula. It’s something worth checking with your doctor

I've had the very occasional one during sex, it's the pushed in wind releasing itself, rather than a fart. It's never happened any other time and I'd struggle to think what's causing it. Maybe it's a normal fart that travels up towards your vagina due to you sitting for long periods?

Oh bless you, op. That sounds stressful. It's only ever happened to me doing one particular yoga pose (the pose in the picture in the article below) I do yoga at home, so thankfully It hasn't been an issue.

Well I for one am glad u posted this OP - following with interest as I have the same intermittent problem. Mostly wfh but dread it happening when I'm in the office as kid myself that no one would be able to hear but in reality they probably would!
