Just that really - want to get ours done and no idea of costs. Wouldn't be anything too fancy but really want to get rid of our moth bitten carpets we have. Thanks

In August 21 I paid £650 for a staircase with a return and a decent-ish sized landing. This was via John Lewis and included carpet, underlay and fitting.

Crispynoodle · 10/03/2023 16:51

£200 for the carpet and £60 for the fitters!

£260 all in last year for short pile polyurethane carpet for stairs and landing of small 2 bed house

Thank you - this is much better than I thought it would be.

£80 for the carpet and the fitter supplied all the underlay and threshold strips and the laying for £135... North Cornwall

BlueRaincoat1 · 10/03/2023 16:55

£856 for a stairs and landing in a 3 bed house. Wool carpet including underlay and fitting etc.

Beamur · 10/03/2023 16:55

£600 two flights of stairs and one landing. Carpet and fitting. Had choice of slightly less quality carpet for £500.

TattiePants · 10/03/2023 16:57

About £3.5k including fitting in 2015ish but we chose an expensive carpet.

Diorinthecountry · 10/03/2023 16:57

I would highly recommend Tapi carpets. We got 2 bedrooms, stairs, top landing all carpeted with them over a year ago plus downstairs hallway wooden flooring and it came to under 2k including fitting. I am really happy with them and they still all look fab.

NutellaEllaElla · 10/03/2023 16:58

£2k, within the last 3 years. 5 bed house, plush carpet.

MushMonster · 10/03/2023 17:13

Just under £300 for ours, aroubd 2 years ago. One flight of stairs and landing (which is a generous size). Carpet was glued on to the stairs part so it looked like the picture attached. We then put on metal and rubber stair noses on them ourselves. They costed around £80 and we only had to cut to size and screw on the wooden steps.
I do love love the look of stair rods, but our steps are not wide enough for them. They are around £10 or so each rod.

I suppose it all depends on the finish you are looking for?

£800 for a wool carpet and fitting up stairs and the landing.

MargaretThursday · 10/03/2023 17:21

I think we paid around £750 for both landings and the stairs.

One thing I was told is don't compromise on the underlay, even if you compromise on the carpet.

NutellaEllaElla · 10/03/2023 17:28

Actually I'm wrong sorry, my quote included the bedrooms too. Rather large error there!

Magichappensallthetimeifyouknowwheretolook · 11/03/2023 08:57

Thank you all - and did you have any recommendations for where to get carpets? I've just looked on John Lewis and the one I like is coming in at £1200 (which seems a lot based on quotes above).

Look for local suppliers rather than John Lewis/ carpet right/ tapi. I can offer East yorkshire carpets or Leighton's in Hull and surrounding area.

Beamur · 11/03/2023 09:06

Well rated local supplier/fitter. We get any carpet we need from the same place. No fancy showroom. He asks what you're looking for colour and price wise then drops off several sample books when he comes to measure up, which is great as you can see exactly what it looks like in situ. He's very good at suggesting the right colour too!

mycatsanutter · 11/03/2023 09:08

£300 that was 3 years ago and it was as good as the day it was put down

MissyB1 · 11/03/2023 09:10

Great thread. We are looking to get stairs, landing and two bedrooms done this year. I’m thinking local supplier and fitter.

Ceryneianhind · 11/03/2023 09:12

Kitchen floor, (leveled and vinyl)
Stairs, existing stair rods new underlay
3 days work

Apollo Plus is an easy clean carpet range and perfect for heavy domestic use around the house.

Was 900, but that was with family discount, so would have been around 1200 to 1300

Magichappensallthetimeifyouknowwheretolook · 11/03/2023 09:24

i hadn’t thought of using someone local, there’s a showroom near to where I live so I’ll pop in today.

@Magichappensallthetimeifyouknowwheretolook mine was local , definitely worth a look

Beebumble2 · 11/03/2023 10:00

Literally just had it done this week, stairs and landing, heavy duty 80%wool with good quality underlay, £1000.
It replaced the previous owners carpet, which was new 6 years ago, but even with only two of us it had worn away on two stairs.
We went to a local carpet shop which was the same price as a big commercial seller for much better quality and service.

Beebumble2 · 11/03/2023 10:29

I should add that price included taking up and disposing of the old carpet, anti moth treatment to the wood floor and stairs, new hardwood threshold strips and the alteration to the doors, so they fitted over.
