Just that really - want to get ours done and no idea of costs. Wouldn't be anything too fancy but really want to get rid of our moth bitten carpets we have. Thanks

Wow some of the prices people paid are quite mad! I would definitely avoid the likes of big chains and John Lewis (?!) and use a small local. We had ours done very recently Inc fitting and underlay for under £600 for a sizeable landing and stairs. Do the prep yourself if you can too, like removing old carpets and moving furniture out of the way because this usually costs extra.

Highly recommended going to a local carpet fitters and looking for end of rolls. These can often be quite a lot cheaper and when doing stairs and landing a stranger shaped end cut ca go a longer way. Just make sure you know your measurements.

I actually have carpeted my entire house using end cuts and so have bee able to afford much higher quality carpet than I would have if I'd choosen from book or roll. All my carpets are 80/20 wool. My stair and landing carpet has been down for 14 years and honestly looks perfect. (We aren't even a shoes off family though I am strict about wiping feet and there are only 3 of us)

I wanted to change the stair carpet recently when we redecorated and the carpet guy we use (he knows the house) wouldn't let me as he said I was throwing money away.

Our biggest room isn't huge 13'ish x 17'ish and it came in at around £600 which was the most expensive.

I just call in often when I know I am planning to redecorate and I know he will hold carpet for me for up to a year so I have loads of time to plan.
