He says his stomach hurts.. I bet he'll be off tomorrow with the runs. Apparently he was ravenous after school and there were no other suitable snacks🤔

Ha! Sainsburys used to sell vanilla infused apricots and they were bloody gorgeous, I once ate a whole large bag. I regretted that later! 💨

KayRanRanRan · 07/03/2023 22:28

He might have terrible indigestion tbh…..and yes, he may have the runs. Poor DS!

HangingOver · 07/03/2023 22:28

Oh good lord. I ate about ten in a row at university once and I couldn't go out that evening because I was locked in the loo!

They so easy to eat loads of but you'd never eat that amount of fresh ones!

Bloody hell! I love dried apricots but that’s a lot!

How old is he? Hoping an adult sized teen rather than a 7 year old. 😬

AnonymousArabella · 07/03/2023 22:31

I remember having to explain to my DH that he’d effectively fed then 2yo dd in excess of 20 apricots once and would he have thought that was a good idea if they’d been fresh?!

She had a bit of a dodgy tummy but nothing too terrible. Hope your DS isn’t up all night!

dudsville · 07/03/2023 22:31

We all have these lessons to learn. I once ate a bag of prunes. They were just so delicious and i didn't know there would be consequences. I went to work afterward (i was about 20) and i struggled. A few years later i ate a big bag of mixed nuts. Similar thing. I know now to be way!

SuperGinger · 07/03/2023 22:31

He is 11. It's not going to be very pleasant.

What I don't understand is how he could have that much sugar? They are so sweet

Thornton's used to do chocolate covered dried apricot pieces. I ate so much!

My nephew ate a big jar of Nutella when he was 14 because he ‘fancied something sweet’. Kids! 😅

EmmiJay · 07/03/2023 22:36

I ate a whole bunch of mangos on a family holiday when I was 5. Spent the next day on the toilet apparently. Never put me off them though lol he should be fine but I'll bet he'll never do that again!

bluebeardswife7 · 07/03/2023 22:36

My parents used to reconstitute dried apricots to make apricot wine. I used to eat the leftovers. Tasted amazing, used to make upstairs uninhabitable for the rest of the evening.

I could easily eat a whole bag but I learnt the hard way that I can't have more than about 7 little ones every day ....

Adrelaxzz · 07/03/2023 22:41

DS1 does this but he is autistic and has fads. He is 17.
Today i found him eating 5 boiled eggs with 6 pieces of bread for lunch. He is 17 and very tall and thin but still!

Lovesabadboy · 07/03/2023 22:49

I used to use these as a 'healthy' snack to nibble whilst on a diet...they were just so moreish that I would always eat more than I intended.
They used to give me TERRIBLE wind pains and the resulting farts were putrid.

The worst was when I also had a Slimfast drink the same day! Sweet Baby Jesus! I repeatedly pebble-dashed the loo for hours that evening! It was out of bounds for anyone else!!

I hope your DS 's stomach ache is just wind, but keep the air freshener to hand!

SuperGinger · 08/03/2023 06:48

His bedroom is very whiffy this morning and he was up at 5am desperate for the loo

SuperGinger · 08/03/2023 06:50

@Lovesabadboy that sounds like a dangerous concoction, luckily he isn't into Slimfast

I’ve avoided them ever since eating 2 had me making my way to the loo ASAP years ago. I’d just come out of hospital and wasn’t really able to walk. Not good!

My dad once told me to dig up the Jerusalem artichokes in his allotment. I made mash. Next day on the Tube, me and my DH were in sheer agony holding in the wind. Never again.

sweetheartyparty · 08/03/2023 07:08

I once ate a bag of dried apricots on a coach to Germany. It was horrendous as I couldn't use the toilet. Thar was 20 years ago and I haven't eaten them since

AnuSTart · 08/03/2023 07:11

Apricots fries. or otherwise are the work of the dark side and anyone eating them, even a nibble, deserves all they get!
Except your DS OP who is but an innocent child! Poor thing.

AnuSTart · 08/03/2023 07:12

Dried! Damnit!

Xrays · 08/03/2023 07:12

Oh poor lad. I love dried apricots but… . I am surprised people don’t mention them more often as a good natural laxative! I can only have about 7 or 8 otherwise I’m running to the toilet!

JennieTheZebra · 08/03/2023 07:40

I have 30g of dried fruit with my lunch every day to keep me…umm…regular. I take prescription painkillers with all the consequences they normally have and the dried fruit really helps and is far tastier than lactulose.

Spanisheomellletttes · 08/03/2023 07:46

I love, love, love dried apricots but 3 is my absolute limit or I stink out the whole house. I have experimented with more but the results are pretty conclusive, and I have my family to think about.

I can eat as many as I like with no ill effects. Coffee on the other hand...
