He says his stomach hurts.. I bet he'll be off tomorrow with the runs. Apparently he was ravenous after school and there were no other suitable snacks🤔

OMG I once ate four at work with a big mug of tea then went into a 3 hour run of meetings. Run being the operative word. Never again.

Rosula · 08/03/2023 07:52

Is he OK for school today?

deplorabelle · 08/03/2023 07:52

Whilst in the care of his idiot father at a festival, DS2 aged four was allowed free reign of the snack box, which contained, among other things a kg bag of dried apricots. This only came to light after several hours of worrying the whole family was going to come down with some dreadful festival gutrot.

Somehow I was the one who missed a once in a lifetime event because I was boil washing tiny underpants in a field.

Your last paragraph did make me laugh. I feel for you though ❤️

Dried! Damnit!

You've probably given some hipster café owner an idea now...

DS1 was prone to constipation. I used to give him a couple of dried apricots. I had to tell him they were orange jelly sweets. Worked a treat.

Twas a long time ago; I'm over it now <twitch>

I'm sure everyone knows this but as a public service announcement can I make everyone aware that drinking 3 double espressos then being trapped in a moving car is not a good idea.

We were on a road trip and set off v early morning via a Mcdonalds. When the effects kicked in there wasn't a service station for ages and I was writhing around in the passenger seat warning dh that I was about the shit myself.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 08/03/2023 08:02

I ate a whole pack once. Felt fine, went for a dog walk.

It was not fine. Thank god there was a mcdonalds nearby 🙏

This reminds me of Sarah Millican's chocolate fountain down there routine - 'it was only then I realised I was not allergic to apricots, I was allergic to 40 apricots......'

I was just reading down to see if anyone else had referenced Sarah Millican 😂

SnowLemons · 08/03/2023 08:31

Is there a warning on the packet?

Can you give him an immodium?

ImDuranDuran · 08/03/2023 08:34

Where was this post when I was horrendously constipated pregnant?? Blush

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 08/03/2023 09:22

I once went out for a meal, had melon with berry compote for starters and later had a summer pudding, THEN somehow had the compulsion to eat 2 plums as a late afternoon snack.

At 7pm, I was overtaken by sudden sweats and shortly after could feel my innards moving around. I dashed to the bathroom in the literal nick of time, and unleashed what felt like torrents of lava the second I sat down.

if you asked me WHY I ate so much fruit that day, I couldn’t actually say. I never normally eat fruit. Chocolate never betrays me like this.

mickandrorty · 08/03/2023 09:23

I know this post should really have the opposite effect but i really fancy some dried apricots now! Hope your son feels better now!

What I don't understand is how he could have that much sugar? They are so sweet

Because he's 11 😂 Tweens and Teens don't seem phased by sugar

anunlikelyseahorse · 08/03/2023 10:40

I can easily devour a pack of apricots with no I'll effects, but even a tiny amount of dried mango, or more than two dried figs an my guts are faster than an F1 car.

SuperGinger · 08/03/2023 13:03

He farted all the way to school, I drove with the heating on full blast but the windows wide open even though it was snowing. I hope he is okay.

PE teacher used to give us cut up oranges when playing netball at half time. One match she’d substituted them for apricots. Not a great day for a lot of us from what I remember. Coach ride back to school was interesting.

DD insisted on drinking 2 actimel on holiday when she was 5. Given acidophulus at the pharmacy. She took up residence and 2 days later annonced, in tones of great joy, 'I did a sausage'.
She's never touched the stuff since.

This thread has made my eyes pour with laughter!

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 08/03/2023 20:56

Feeling very puzzled by this thread, but I grew up with a garden full of fruit trees and basically lived on fruit in the summer. That many apricots might give me an extra trip or 2 to the loo but nothing more than that.

Now green apricots because we were impatient for the first fruits absolutely did this to our innards...!!!

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 08/03/2023 20:58

Oh and we had 3 very large apricot trees so dried a lot of apricots. Could easily eat bags of them without only a slight side effect.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 08/03/2023 21:08

I don't understand why you can be so blasé about it. Dried fruit is different from fresh fruit. And the fact the child can't regulate what he/she consumes, and parents are fine about it. Excessive of anything can be bad. I really don't think it's funny, at all.

It’s a one off. It’s not pleasant and he will learn but it’s hardly a big deal
