Has anyone had this weird virus?

I don't know if it's a virus or not as no cold or sickness type symptoms just real extreme fatigue?
Me and my 7 yr old have both been extremely tired, nobody else in my household is like this. Normally 7 yr old is awake till gone 10pm out of refusal to sleep and up at 7am. He's been falling asleep by 8pm every night for the past few days and coming home really tired which isn't like him he's normally a bundle of energy.
I'm really struggling with fatigue to and have been sleeping 16 hours! Blush

Any idea what this could be? It's bizarre.

Done the rounds in our house.. I went in the bath at 8.30 last night.. Actually couldn't get out as I was too exhausted. At 10pm and I was freezing!

OneAndDon3 · 07/03/2023 19:17

Have you got carbon monoxide alarms?

Ridikulus · 07/03/2023 19:18

Yes it struck here a couple of weeks ago and it's still not left

Have you got carbon monoxide alarms?

Yes, and it's working. First thing I checked! 😅

Was it just fatigue you both had? It's very strange as DH and ds1 are completely fine.

I had proper flu a month ago but was back to pretty much normal after 10 days. Now I feel absolutely floored! I’m so so tired. I’m actually about to have a bath and go to bed. I rarely get bugs and I normally have loads of energy. I feel like I’ve gone from 43 to 93 in the space of a few weeks 😫. This awful weather doesn’t help, I feel like I’m cold to the very marrow <dramatic>

Justcashnosweets · 07/03/2023 19:32

I'm glad its not just me! I've felt under the weather for about 2 weeks. Really fatigued, bit of a sore throat, headaches. I've tested for Covid but its always negative, and we have a fully functioning carbon monoxide alarm. Dd has also had a chest infection which has been slow to clear even with antibiotics. Its such a weird bug. 😕

PhoenixAuntie · 07/03/2023 19:32

I had extreme fatigue, it was covid as did my entire family. We still have to test due to DH job.

WishItHadntHappened · 07/03/2023 19:37

Yep! I've just had it for 10 days. No outward symptoms. I had a sore throat on day 1 which passed, and then just fatigue and that virus-like feeling in my bloodstream.

DutchCowgirl · 07/03/2023 19:37

I have covid no for the fourth time and i am just so tired. I had only a little cold, some coughing for 1 day, but the tiredness keeps on for days now.
It is very different from my previous covid experiences when i had a fever and coughing for days. I hope this tiredness will pass in a few days, i find it a bit frightening to be honest.

WinterCarlisle · 07/03/2023 20:09

I’ve done what feels like a million covid tests (NHS) and they’re all negative. If it had happened before I felt my usual self after the flu I’d have said it was post viral but I was fine for over 2 weeks. This is just horrid. I’m also not sleeping great and wake up coughing like I’ve been on 20 Rothmans for years. I’m so fed up with it!!!

Stinkypup · 07/03/2023 20:11

My DS has been poorly for almost three weeks including a hospital stay for suspected appendicitis then bowel infection and is getting better now but it's been so strange.

princessbananahammock252 · 07/03/2023 20:27

Yes! I had this since mid last week, but it only occurred to me at the weekend that I might have some sort of bug. No other symptoms apart from a mild tickly throat in the night; every now and again. I was so so exhausted, taking 2 hour naps and then out for the night by 8pm!

Yesterday was peak for me. I could barely keep my eyes open until I had a nap at 12 (had to wait for my toddler to nap!). My husband also fell asleep on the sofa for a couple of hours so he must've had a milder version. So odd!

OffToThatPlace · 07/03/2023 20:30

Have you tested for Covid? Overwhelming fatigue is often a symptom, sometimes even the only symptom..

Glad you've got a working CO2 alarm but still worth checking any gas hobs, boilers or heaters just in case.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 07/03/2023 20:50

Glad it's not just me, it's definitely not covid as literally no other symptoms bar extreme fatigue and a foggy brain can't get my words out I'm so tired. If I'm still like it tomorrow I'll take a test but I've had it before and it was nothing like this.

The new COVID varisnts are completely different though now. Fatigue is the number one symptom. Sore throats too. We both have dry coughs that won't go away, but didn't have temps or other symptoms. Rapid tests are also not so good at picking Omicron up. DH and I both had COVID two weeks ago. He tested positive, I didn't. Same symptoms though, and some of his colleagues tested pos too, so definitely COVID, but just different.

zorgoid · 07/03/2023 21:40

Yeah

MrsCarson · 07/03/2023 22:23

Starting onto week three for me. I've tested for Covid twice negative . Cough, bit of a sore throat, very tired, foggy. Dh is a week behind me with it.
I'm shattered so go to bed, sleep for an hour then I'm awake for hours and still shattered.

DysonBison · 07/03/2023 22:42

This, plus a headache that wouldn't shift for four days.

TheBirdintheCave · 07/03/2023 23:14

So I had this a few weeks ago and it turned out to be Strep A. Not saying that yours is too of course. I hope you feel better soon :)

SkankingWombat · 07/03/2023 23:24

Yes, I had extreme fatigue about a week and a half ago. I slept for pretty much 2 days. The only other symptoms were a barely-sore throat on day 1 plus losing my voice on day 2. It took a week to get my voice back.

Foxmother · 07/03/2023 23:39

I have a sore throat, fatigue and awful brain fog. I almost set the microwave on fire today running it with nothing inside because I forgot to put the food in. It started to smell like burning plastic and I still didn't register it.

I did my first COVID test for months, as it felt like such a strange illness. Test was negative, but not convinced of that.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/03/2023 00:15

Ds's normal response to a virus/sore throat. And he's just started with a sore throat today. <weeps>

FFS I already have two disabilities that make me tired and brainfoggy already. I really don't need another one.

I seem to have a post viral rash that itches horrendously and won't heal. Scratched the tops off some. And the squits and gut cramps.

Great. Just great.

What are the strep a symptoms again...? <Wanders off to Google>

crispinglovershighkick · 08/03/2023 00:17

Dh and I had covid three weeks ago (or he tested positive and I didn't test because we had exactly the same symptoms at the same time) but he's recovered and I'm exhausted. Slept 10hrs last night and then a 2.5hr nap this afternoon. We had typical virus symptoms (fever, cough, congestion).
Can't think straight, no energy.

fastingworks · 08/03/2023 00:26

Yes.My daughter & I had extreme fatigue for almost two weeks. Not Covid & no other Symptoms.
I'm fine now.My teenage daughter is back at school now but is too tired for after school sports. She slept for almost 20 hours a day for about 3 days.
