Do you remember these bags from the 90s

Era of Benetton and sweater shop sweaters.

Backpack were big typically a flap over and two from pockets but I had a really distinctive one.

The one I'm trying to remember was was tartan and had thin realleather straps with a buckle and the buckle was also real leather and it had a distinctive swivelly mechanism.

It was a good brand I'm sure maybe Le Sac?

I see your sweatershop and raise you Dash for some early 90s branded sweatshirt cool!

Oh I used to think my cousin looked so cool in Dash stuff!

windywoo78 · 05/03/2023 23:26

Was it green tartan? I remember exactly what you mean but can't find any google images of them

Yes! I had a lovely black Dash sweater with an orange logo. Dead cool.

I had a Dash tracksuit. 2 piece it was purple & had satin patches. I lived in it. I also had a sweater shop carrier bag as a school bag for a while. It wasn't just your average carrier bag, it was a drawstring backpack type affair.

Underminer · 05/03/2023 23:56

i remember these, but didn’t have one. I had one of those army surplus bags that we decorated with cool band logos. I coped a lot of logos from Melody Maker or NME on bands that I liked or thought sounded cool 😆

ArmchairAnarchist2 · 06/03/2023 00:01

I had so many Sweatershop big baggy jumpers. I lived in them. There was a fab shop in York, on The Shambles I think.

Underminer · 06/03/2023 00:12

Actually, now I remember what a great bag my army surplus bag was, I’m going to get one for my niece along with some band badges to sew on. She is really into 90s alternative and grunge so I bet she’ll love it.
Might also get myself one, they were great bags

ScandiNoirNuit · 06/03/2023 00:24

Loved a Sweater Shop sweater!

Stressedafff · 06/03/2023 01:00

My mum had one of those bags OP, she said she thinks it was either from miss selfridge or the market

Babamamananarama · 06/03/2023 01:12

Oh the Benetton duffle bags. I had one at secondary school - we didn't have lockers so carried heavy books round all day and the string straps would almost cut your arms off.

The other big thing was Naf Naf. The jackets...

AlphaAlpha · 06/03/2023 01:25

I had this beauty (image pilfered from t'net)

Had the green duffel bag too, straps were akin to a cheese wire.

😯😯😯 I can't believe it. They look a lot smaller now though but I am going to have to get one or two! They only used to be a tenner though 🤣

jumpinsback · 06/03/2023 06:51

Had totally forgotten about Dash! Loved Benetton and Naf Naf. Had several Naf Naf sweatshirts...there was a little shop on Piccadilly Circus that I stocked up in 🙂

Me too!

The metal bits on them was so ragged and sharp though! But they looked cool!

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 06/03/2023 07:43

Ooo! An army surplus bag. They were great school bags.

I replaced mine with a 'record bag' which was another amazing school bag. There's a Shelley's Shoes one of eBay with £55 as the current bid!

I still have and use a brown leather rucksack from River Island. I bought it in 1993 when I started college.

Back when River Island had wooden floors and wooden shelves and was a very different place.

My 30 year old rucksack is still going strong. I had the clasp replaced a few years ago, but it’s a really sturdy bag.

We have a benneton shop in our town the stuff is absolutely gorgeous and really well priced 😍

Monkeybutt1 · 08/03/2023 20:50

I don't suppose that was in Hull?

I had this and had completely forgot about it!!! Thanks for sharing

Our local shopping centre had Benetton, the Sweater Shop and Paco all next to each other and were packed on a Saturday. Everybody wanted a Saturday job in one of those shops

Sorry my previous message about Hull should have quoted this message

leccybill · 08/03/2023 21:00

There's a Benetton near me and the stuff is lovely and not a bad price at all.
Such a solidly good brand. I loved at at 13 and I love it at 43!

HollyFern1110 · 08/03/2023 21:01

I had this one, but in red with beige leather buckles.

Our PTA is going to hold a 90's night.
I so wish I hadn't got rid of all my t shirts - I had a great pink Elastica tee with the tub of Vaseline on it. Although I'd maybe get my arm in it now sighs for my skinny 90's figure

llareggub · 08/03/2023 21:55

I loved Naf Naf and a brand called Ton Sur Ton. Before that I wore Dash too, but gave up on it when I discovered Naf Naf etc. I liked Benetton but we didn’t have one in our city so I made do with the perfume.

weebarra · 08/03/2023 21:56

Oh, I had a Ton sur Ton sweatshirt, when I wasn't wearing my McKenzie one!
