What do they put in them? They're addictive.

Has anyone tried making a version at home?

Just to clarify, I mean these from the bakery.

Ohhh yes they are scrummy aren't they! The pesto and goat's cheese one - soooo good!

I've never tried that version. I'm going to have to do so now.

They are so nice, I tried to make the same thing with a pitta bread, pizza sauce, cheese and frozen peppers. It kind of worked, but not so nice as the real thing.

Thanks. I might have to try that. It should tide me over until I can return for more.

I love the pesto & goats cheese ones too. They are delicious 😋

ClaraThePigeon · 27/02/2023 13:18

I'm definitely going to have to try the pesto ones now.

Are there any other delights that I'm missing from the bakery? I'm a creature of habit and tend to go for the same things.

I had a mozzarella and pesto one a couple of weeks ago, which was lovely. They're good for a snack when out and you want something nicer than a fridge cold sandwich (and are cheaper).

If people are making them and they seem to be missing something, it's probably because there's more salt in the sauce than you'd put in if making at home. Perhaps also use a mix of cheese, so cheddar and parmesan, not just mozzarella. Or use mini ready made coriander and garlic naan breads as the base?

IMHO the star of the show that is the Lidl bakery is the pastels de nata (little custard tarts). They're the same as the ones in M&S but less than half the price, so you can have twice as many.

Those little tarts are a piece of heaven Star

I love those mini pizzas too! Personally I think it's the slightly soggy base that does it for me Blush. Reminds me of cheap school pizza

JuanitathePizza · 27/02/2023 13:42

The Lidl brownies are phenomenal

ThreeRingCircus · 27/02/2023 13:46

They are amazing! And I agree about the Portuguese custard tarts, they are also incredible.

These are great tips. Thank you.

I really need to try the pastels de nata. I love those so I don't know why I haven't tried the Lidl version yet. I tend to zoom in on the brownies or pain au chocolat.

The Lidl brownies are phenomena

They really are. I love Costa's brownies, well the old ones before they introduced salted caramel, which I like but not as much as the regular, and these are just as good.

Yeah the brownies are amazing!

mutleyschuckle · 27/02/2023 14:04

I've just finished work, popped into Lidl for one of those & a pain au raisin to bring home for lunch. Love them!
I make pitta pizzas for my so. But they never seem the same

greenkitten2 · 27/02/2023 14:33

I love these too! And the brownies.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 27/02/2023 14:54

I think the secret ingredient is olive/oil.

We have these similar little pizzas in spain and I think they are loaded with olive oil.

The pretzels 🥨😍

TheFormidableMrsC · 27/02/2023 15:12

I tried one of these little pizzas a few weeks ago and agree they are divine! I think it's the slightly charred taste that gives them the edge and that must be the way they cook them. So delicious.

Redebs · 27/02/2023 15:14

The goats cheese and pesto ones are wonderful too. Charred, sweet tomato is perfect

Ohyay · 27/02/2023 15:15

Love these! Not a goats cheese fan but they are also incredible. No idea what the secret ingredient is but christ lord ADDICTIVE.

PicklesAndTequila · 27/02/2023 15:16

I always eat a pesto one in my car before driving home, as my reward for getting through the checkout experience!

xogossipgirlxo · 27/02/2023 15:17

LOVE THEM! I'm going to lidl today, hoping to buy few and put to the freezer, so I can enjoy them for breakfast 😂😂How sad am I.

StonwEd · 27/02/2023 15:18

The almond croissants are to die for. They're about 59p but go for £3 in a cafe.

The brownies omg, my Saturday afternoon with a coffee treat.
