Who changes the loo roll in your house?

soleilblue · 26/02/2023 18:55

It's me here. At the very most someone else puts a new roll on top of the holder and leaves the old empty one on the holder. Sometimes leaving the remains of the old roll on there. It's like no one wants to use the last of the loo roll. There are 4 people perfectly capable of changing the loo roll. The holder is really easy to use so there's not an excuse there.

We don’t have a loo roll holder. I don’t know why. I make attractive pyramidal arrangements with loo rolls on top of the cistern.

Of the unused ones right? Not the used rolls?

Yeah only me. So annoying, no one else bothers.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 26/02/2023 18:59

All of us do it - basically whoever finishes a roll disposes of the cardboard and gets a new one out of the cupboard. It isn't anyone's specific job!

Orcubed · 26/02/2023 19:00

Everyone changes it here, unless there’s not a new one in that bathroom in which case going to the airing cupboard is clearly too much effort for anyone other than me. Nobody other than me puts the wrapper and tube in the recycling though.

Nobody else in the house is capable of getting a clean hand towel or bath mat if I’ve taken one to be washed. The clean bath mats are literally two steps from the bath!

JizzlordTheCat · 26/02/2023 19:01

Whoever finishes the old one.

Put new roll on the holder, pop the old cardboard tube into the bin. Takes less than 30 seconds and would not be impressed if it was left to me.

Yes.. that is the way it should be IMO. I think people in this house have decided the way round this is to get a new roll out and leave the old one on the holder with one or two sheets left on it.

My 9 year old manages it? I have my own bathroom so I don't know what goes on in the other toilets exactly, but we have a stock of it in the cupboard on the landing, occasionally I get panicked shout from one of them where they haven't restocked, but pretty rarely, they know where it is!

soleilblue · 26/02/2023 19:02

@Orcubed Ah so they take the old one off and just leave a tube lying around the bathroom? So close but so far.

And yes to the bath mats!

Me here, but then it's only me and DD. When she's a bit older I absolutely expect her to do it herself.

Rubyupbeat · 26/02/2023 19:05

Both of us, though I am the lazier one, oops!

HaggisBurger · 26/02/2023 19:07

a special magical effing fairy. That’s who.

according to my teenage kids 😡

ILiveAt64ZooLane · 26/02/2023 19:08

Whoever finishes it, however only I have the required skill set to dispose of the tube. I left them to build up to see how long it would take for someone else to do it. I gave up when there was ten.

I haven't even got them to take the old roll off the holder yet but i imagine a similar scenario would happen here.

Same here - even the preschooler does it!

OldTinHat · 26/02/2023 19:34

Me.

Because I live on my own!

scotstarstrikestwo · 26/02/2023 20:02

My 5 year old did it today...I was shocked! Hope it carries on!

I’d be pretty annoyed if it was deemed my job 🤬
There’s always spare rolls in the loo and a stock of them in the bottom of the airing cupboard on the landing next to the loo.

DH did this @soleilblue and learned the hard way when I hid all the new rolls and went out for the day 😄

Fakeairpodsfakeoodie · 26/02/2023 20:08

I bought tubeless toilet paper.

GoodChat · 26/02/2023 20:19

Anyone who uses the toilet. Me, DP or our 3 year old. Whoever used the last of it replaces the roll.

mrsbyers · 26/02/2023 20:21

It has recently been designated a blue job here , husband goes round and tops up the holders in our three bathrooms and thinks he’s the bees knees afterwards

AnnaBegins · 26/02/2023 20:35

Me, me and me. Even the people who work for DH's business, and therefore use our downstairs toilet, don't ever bother to change it. They have the annoying modus operandi of leaving just a sliver of toilet paper remaining, like one square or less, so they can claim it's not them who finished the roll, it's always bloody me. DS(7), DH and his staff all do the same, in all 3 bathrooms.
Following for bright ideas of how to change this situation!

DoesItMakeYouFeelBetter · 26/02/2023 20:44

Me. Always.

Not the cardboard tubes, no! They go in a wastepaper basket on the floor for recycling, along with toothpaste boxes, empty shampoo bottles etc.
