Will I ever be able to watch Moana's granny dying without crying???

For info, I am an actual adult with a functional life and, generally, a good grip on my emotions!! Not usually a crier. Don't even cry at Comic Relief. I have a 6 year old so have seen Moana approximately 10,000 times and it still gets me!

I still can’t watch Encanto without being in floods at Dos Oruguitas. Can’t even listen to it without tears.

Such a beautiful song. I love the version in English too.

DisneyChops · 25/02/2023 20:38

Then again Mufasa dying still gets me.

MajesticWhine · 25/02/2023 20:38

I love Moana. Isn't there going to be a Moana 2?

It's UP for me too,or as my son calls it the Grandpa movie,Carl & Ellie remind him of my late mom & dad (still with us). In fairness Carl does have an uncanny resemblance to my dad 🙂

There’s an English version? This sounds both amazing and dangerous for me. How bad is the sob fest going to be? I speak some Spanish but I’m not fluent.

I've got youtube music and there's the Encanto soundtrack album on it. It's one of the later songs on that (can probably find it on Spotify etc too). It's probably worse being in English but his voice just sounds even better on the English version, IMO.

Up gets me everytime. So sad but so real as well.

SunshineAndFizz · 25/02/2023 20:46

If you can watch the first 10 minutes of Up and not cry, you're dead inside. I crumble every time.

It's just that empty armchair. All it takes.

Soubriquet · 25/02/2023 20:53

My dd is quite hard hearted but one film that managed to make her cry was Maleficent 2!

Weirdly enough, the others listed doesn’t bother her

pizzaHeart · 25/02/2023 20:54

I usually cry at kids films I don’t cry at adults much, when it’s about kids something makes it particularly touching. I was crying while watching Matilda movie recently at the cinema, DD was very perplexed.
In my defence I’m at peri menopause stage when crying is one of my main symptoms.

chineapplepunks · 25/02/2023 20:54

Moana doesn't get me but Coco is the saddest!!!

It's the "This is not who you are, you know who you are" bit that gets me every single time.

Yes, me too! She's so brave when she speaks directly to the fire monster island thingy. This is the bit that gets me. And then you're rewarded by the whole island turning green and flowery😭😭😭😭 Just like the end of the Shawshank Redemption (ok, maybe with some slight differences 😂) the ending is the absolute best bit.

AustralianCrunch · 25/02/2023 21:01

The Little Prince makes me cry every time.

Oh yes! DD & I were weeping at Matilda at the cinema. I was attempting to hold it in and then she looked at me and I just crumbled... we were clutching each other as DS rolled his eyes bemused!

I had to watch this as part of an English lesson I was teaching with a class of year 6 pupils. I had to watch it about 10 times in a row before the lesson to try to make it through without tears!! The short animation called the piano was worse though!!

I teared up at Bluey the other day Blush

CoodleMoodle · 25/02/2023 21:16

I only have to think about All Of You from Encanto and I'm in pieces. And Show Yourself from Frozen 2. When Elsa says "Mother!?" I'm gone.

But the worst for me is Brave. I watched it pre DD, had a few tears but nothing too bad. Watched it after she was born and I was in floods! Then we watched it again when she was about 5 and I had to leave the room. Both kids looked at me as if I'd lost my mind Grin

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 25/02/2023 21:17

Andy leaving home in toy story had me sobbing for about half an hour much to the bemusement of DC.

Inastatus · 25/02/2023 21:17

I cry at almost every film I watch! Teen DC’s take the piss out of me. Went to see ‘What’s Love Got to do with it’ this afternoon with DD and had tears dripping down my face. Showing my age but as a child my most traumatic film moment was when Bambi lost his mother 😭

TheSnowQueen · 25/02/2023 21:19

Literally cried at this today 👊

AnxieTeapot · 25/02/2023 21:19

Aww, it totally gets me too. Along with Frozen 2 when Elsa sings Show Yourself and sings 'I am found' after seeing her mum 😢.

When I was 9 1/2 months pregnant, I cried at Cars (the movie)!

That's lump in throat territory but never fighting back a tsunami of tears!
