What on earth is going on! No new clothing?

I'm beginning to start my DD and DS's wardrobe for the SS season.

Next have a few short sets but nothing else. George nothing at all. No new stock! Zara, no new stock!

I do get quite a few bits from Vinted but otherwise things I'd source new that I have my eye on is 0!

What's going on? Is there a shortage of materials or something? Usually SS stuff is available around now.

Very disappointing Sad

I just had a quick look at Sainsbury's online and they have plenty of shorts and t shirts and things as 'New In'

dreamalittlescreamforme · 25/02/2023 09:15

@mynameiscalypso I'm not a huge fan overall of their boys bits as they're quite dinosaur and car heavy! But they do have a few basics. Again not much though or anything 'oh that's lovely' worthy etc

I was in Zara yesterday. Loads of new stuff there. Where in country are you?

PuttingDownRoots · 25/02/2023 09:15

Definitely seeing shorts and sundresses appear.

Its only February!

mynameiscalypso · 25/02/2023 09:16

But that's just a matter of taste isn't it? I've just put loads of bits that I really like in my basket and am quite impressed with some of their bits.

Maireas · 25/02/2023 09:18

Where are you? Our local shopping centre has loads of new stock in all the shops. Looks like spring and summer wear, although it's still freezing here!
Plenty of new stuff in John Lewis, Next, H&M, etc.

dreamalittlescreamforme · 25/02/2023 09:20

I am in Beds SE but not seen anything in shops yet either Sad

Maybe when it gets closer to Easter? I was looking at linen tops in John Lewis but it'll be a while before I even ditch the jumpers!
Still time.

monomatapea · 25/02/2023 09:22

There's shit loads round here

OzziePopPop · 25/02/2023 09:24

George have summer and ‘holiday shop’ stuff? I got an email last week and had a look. It’s still pretty early though, snow is forecast next week!

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 25/02/2023 09:28

It's only February!

Summer stuff doesn't normally hit the shops until late March.

FfaCoffi · 25/02/2023 09:29

Do people really buy shorts and think about Summer clothes in February? Shock

(I do everything far too late - not criticising, more fascinated!)

I’ve got mine some bits from Zara & river island this week. Some gorgeous pieces. I don’t do tractors & dinosaurs either.

I do. We always go abroad in April & May so I need summer clothing before June!

Meandfour · 25/02/2023 09:35

I got my boys all 3 colours in these top & shorts sets. They have some sweatshirt & short combos too.

What on earth is going on! No new clothing?

And even late March is far too early. May would be about right, and it should stay in the shops until at least August. I don't want to be looking for summer stuff in July and find nothing but dregs in the corner with jumpers and coats taking up most of the shop.

If people need to 'spread the cost' (because I know someone will come along with this as an excuse), then they can save up the money. They don't need to run out and spend it now, plus isn't it risky for DC? What if they have a growth spurt in the next couple of months and by the time it's actually summer, things are too small?

We go away in June, I’ve been looking for my 4 year old twins but haven’t found a great deal about yet either.

WaddleAway · 25/02/2023 09:39

Weird, I had some time to kill in the city centre yesterday and was wandering around thinking ‘why are there so many summer clothes around in February?’. I thought they didn’t usually start selling them until closer to Easter!

Prettypaisleyslippers · 25/02/2023 09:44

Next have a fantastic range. We went to the sun feb half term and there is loads. Sandals too.

OhNoNotThatAgain · 25/02/2023 09:49

Shops always get this sort of thing arse about face.

I lost my gloves in January one year. Could I find any gloves in the shops to replace them? Nope. It was all flip-flops and summer dresses. Try buying a new swimsuit in August and you will be faced with heaps of winter coats and sequinned Christmas party outfits.

BarbaraofSeville · 25/02/2023 09:53

Yes, I remember DP having a strop in a shop in August because they had no vests that he wanted for our late summer holiday.

He could have bought a winter coat or woolly jumper though.
