What on earth is going on! No new clothing?

I'm beginning to start my DD and DS's wardrobe for the SS season.

Next have a few short sets but nothing else. George nothing at all. No new stock! Zara, no new stock!

I do get quite a few bits from Vinted but otherwise things I'd source new that I have my eye on is 0!

What's going on? Is there a shortage of materials or something? Usually SS stuff is available around now.

Very disappointing Sad

George have loads of plain non-patterned stuff and so does H&M. I hate the tractor/dino shite so mainly stick to those, Zara and and maybe M&S.

They're gorgeous! Love those 🥰

Try H&M too! Think we have the same taste.

I walked past Next yesterday and the rails in the windows were all summer clothes?

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/02/2023 10:30

Also in Beds and haven't seen any ss clothes in shops but loads online. Put lots of gorgeous short sets in my basket for my 4 and 1 year old boys yesterday from Next

Do people really buy shorts and think about Summer clothes in February? Shock

(I do everything far too late - not criticising, more fascinated!)

They do. They also "source pieces" or pick up "bits" and find "gorgeous" things. Because they're connoisseurs of this stuff with the correct lingo and waaay better at it than I ever was.

I think for some people, fashion is a hobby. I'm genuinely not judging btw, I'm the same with shopping for Christmas in September. I just noticed this week that friends who are doing it now, are the ones who enjoy it and are dreaming of summer sun and days out and part of that, is imagining the clothes the family will be wearing.

I am, fortunately, raising a y11 who does her own shopping and a y6 who relies on whatever friends with older children pass down in bin bags.

OP, I didn't click on your thread to muse about fashion shopping. I opened it because I was in our local city this week and walked past H&M and Zara and various other places and everything was new in summer stuff. Maybe it's just where you live. It made me feel cold looking at it!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 25/02/2023 11:51

I'm also SE and had a similar issue. Needed swimwear for kids swimming lessons and I couldn't find any! Ended up having to pay over the odds from a specialist sports shop when previously I have been able to pick them up from Asda or Primark at this time.

A few pairs of shorts were in stock, but mainly still winter clothes. However, I guess winter is dragging along this year and we are expected a cold snap again so maybe it makes sense to delay till closer to the start of spring.

I've just been to next and bought several little tops, I wear them all year as layers but there was no shortage of summery bits.
I went to the big next at a business park on my lunch but do you have a smaller one that perhaps doesn't stock so much? Maybe look online?

BrilliantUsername · 25/02/2023 12:31

Also Primark has lots of children's clothes. My mum lives a few hours away and we are going on holiday in may so she bought them a selection of summer dresses, tops and leggings during half term when she visited as we won't see her before we go.
Children are only in it a season so Primark is perfectly serviceable for parks and beaches.

Can't stand Primark for boys! Envy
