Cleaning husband's ears with cotton buds.

When speaking to a friend the other day, I somehow happened to mention that I clean my husband's ears out with cotton buds every few days.

I've never really thought anything of this but she seemed to think this was really odd and something she would never do in a million years!

Now I'm starting to wonder if this, is indeed odd and something that people don't do!

It's been part of our relationship/marriage for years! 😂

I do my DPs ears, not too often because he doesn’t like the sensation but they get so disgustingly gunky. Also get his spots on face and back. He’s got a big one brewing on his chest atm, I’m looking forward to it

Madmother63 · 25/02/2023 13:22

I love plucking the hairs from my DP ears, sorting his eyebrows out, and shaving his head and body. He loves having it done.....and those pesky hairs on the top of his nose!

DH does all of his own grooming. He's a very well groomed man.

SkintyFia · 25/02/2023 13:30

I always want to know how this ever came up in conversation in the first place.

Any guy I was seeing who asked me to clean out his ears 🤮 would be single that very minute.

sjxoxo · 25/02/2023 13:32

sorry but I’m with your friend!!! This is so so wierd and also gross. I’d never do this for my DH! x

No one should be using cotton buds in ears

I had to go to minor injuries to have one that got lost in my ear, apparently common

How did it get lost in your ear?

Botw1 · 25/02/2023 13:36

Do you wipe his arse for him too?

Dontfeedtheseagulls · 25/02/2023 13:38

Hahahaha. I'm so glad I'm single!!

I guess so long as it's all consensual then whose to judge 🤷

How did it get lost in your ear?

The cotton bit came off the plastic stick

picklemewalnuts · 25/02/2023 13:39

You need an ear syringe set!

DH is a complete clutz and needs someone to do it for him. Other members of the family go to the nurse, but our surgery won't do it anymore.

fieldsrose · 25/02/2023 13:39

🤢

AnnieMore · 25/02/2023 13:40

For some reason, I think cleaning his ears is weird and infantilising.

But then I remembered, I tweeze my husband’s nose hairs and ear hairs, and I trim his eyebrows. I fake tanned him the other day! If he ever had a spot, I’d be ecstatic - but sadly he’s never had one .

mamaduckbone · 25/02/2023 13:41

No, I don't do this (and Dh has a serious earwax overproduction issue which makes me heave) but as other PPs have said, I have a good go at his blackheads which is no less gross.
Ds13 had some lovely juicy blackheads in his ears recently which I attacked with gusto as well.
Each to their own I say Grin

butterfliedtwo · 25/02/2023 13:41

Hard no. So glad I'm single.

Oh God 🤮

Times like this I am FINE with being single 😀

Same

Botw1 · 25/02/2023 13:42

For those saying they are glad they are single, this is not a compulsory part of being in a relationship

Oh!!!

Well if anyone proposes tonight I won'tet this put me off!

I definitely don't remember this topic from PHSE lessons at school but the world is v modern

saltrock123 · 25/02/2023 13:45

Euugh ! I don't feel too good.

Oblomov23 · 25/02/2023 13:45

I do ds's, just check outer ears. I check Dh for nose hairs, eyebrows etc. I like doing all these things, so I don't expect criticism for it.

Carlycat · 25/02/2023 13:47

Grim 🤮

skilpadde · 25/02/2023 13:47

Blackheads and ingrown hairs, yes. Ear cleaning, no way, never.

Botw1 · 25/02/2023 13:48

@Dontfeedtheseagulls

Given so many were saying this made them glad they were single I had to go and re read my relationship rule book.

But nope. Definitely nothing in there about cleaning ears

Bingoflings · 25/02/2023 13:53

I was laughing my head off at the monkey grooming. I won't go near DH's ears. Not after he showed me what comes out of them.

He does ask me to look at his back for spots but really that's code for can you stroke or massage my back please? It also makes me look really weird as though I'd only touch his back to hunt for spots and not to show affection. Occasionally I might jokingly say this one needs operating on and will get a wet wipe to show him the contents of the spot, which is really gross I know.
I don't go near his feet or nose/ear hairs. I once waxed his stomach for a joke (he was awake and consenting) and I once shaved his face because we were bored (pre kids).

philautia · 25/02/2023 14:03

I'm not sure if it's odd! We don't do it! But I do wax and epilate him whenever he asks (that is for my own enjoyment though!).
