A CF caught in the act

I have a plant pot outside my front door and a couple of little garden ornaments sitting next to it, a zebra and a gnome. My children picked them and consider them to be theirs.

I spotted somebody loitering so opened the blinds and caught an elderly lady red handed putting the zebra in her bag.

To be honest I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have around here but I didn't expect the culprit to be an elderly woman😂

I don’t think your choice of “iniquitous” is probably best choice of word in this context.

Perhaps you could suggest a more appropriate one?

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 24/02/2023 11:47

FFS @Gwen82 why don't you remove that stick from up your arse and chill out

I think that's beautifully expressed @Cigarettesaftersex1 , but I have a feeling that @Gwen82 may not think you made used the best choice of words in this context/

The irony of this post! 😂

i am curious what happens after you literally catch someone in the act. Did the pp get them back, the girls and mum run off, the girls turn demonic and throw the slates at the PP?!

Did . . . the girls turn demonic

Aaah! I think I realise what has happened.

You don't know what "iniquitous" means. Were you perhaps thinking of "impious"?

Gwen82 · 24/02/2023 15:05

I was just curious about what happens in a scenario where the victim intercepts the CF whilst they are literally in the throws of stealing.

for some reason though, you’d like to keep that part of the story to yourself 🤷‍♀️ fair enough

Thatcatisdrivingmenuts · 24/02/2023 15:47

I was scammed by an elderly couple acting together in a post office. I was addressing an envelope to put £20 in to send with a birthday card, and one of them blew the card off the table and told me I'd dropped it. By the time I bent down and up again, they'd vanished at the speed of lightning with my money. I was dumbfounded actually, that they were elderly. She looked like the Pat Butcher character who used to be on EastEnders.

Oh bugger off if you can't be nice.

Gwen82 · 24/02/2023 16:05

Good heavens! 😬

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/02/2023 16:29

My local Spotted page always has a post about the scrap men stealing. They will come up onto drives and gave opened back gates to take things. It's appalling!

Years ago, there was a house that had a pair of stone feet that they moved every so often so their garden had footprints on it. They were stolen. The owners left a sign asking for them back. It was so sad.

BloggersBlog · 24/02/2023 16:37

I agree with you @Gwen82 - the kids were GIVING the stolen goods to the mum and all the poster said was "I can tell your mum where to buy them if she likes them so much" or similar words, CBA to check the exact wording.

😂😂 unbelievable! Bet that REALLY taught them a lesson 😂

mostlysunnywithshowers · 25/02/2023 18:07

Aw, some people just can't help themselves! At least she gave it back!

Sitting in a cafe with my friend when she got a notification from her ring doorbell. Someone was in the covered area near her door picking up a carrier bag she’d left outside. Then he took off with it. Bag contained a pair of boots that she’d put in there until she had time to clean off the dog s* she’d got on them the day before. Just hoping he walked them over his carpets/floor before he realised.

😂

I opened the door and asked for it back. I said if she liked it then she should go and buy one from £ stretchers down the road.

She tried to style it out by saying she thought it had been put out to take but there's no chance that anybody would think that, its part of a little display🤦🏼‍♀️

Ooh heading to £ stretchers tomorrow, DS (3) loves zebras!! (Totally misses point of thread 😳😂)

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 25/02/2023 19:30

I came home from town to find a middle aged man picking flowers in my garden after he’d walked down my long drive off the street.
I made him open his carrier bag and show me what he’d got before telling him this was my garden with my flowers and not to come back! He apologised and left. I then checked the CCTV and saw him wandering around the beds in the garden with what appeared a set of secateurs in his hands. I suppose I was lucky he was ‘friendly’ with such sharp secateurs on him, be careful if you challenge anyone, you never know how things will turn out.

I always love the first few comments on CF threads..."So what what did you do/say to her/him/them when you challenged them OP?" just in case the OP didn't immediately rush headlong into resolving the issue as it unfolded.

I like it when the OP did just that - nice one, OP Grin

Because so many times the op says " ohh I didn't say anything, just watched while x y z happened" and it's fucking annoying

OldMam · 26/02/2023 17:23

*She was on all sorts of "tablets" but never actually took any of them as we discovered when she died (aged 98) and we had to clear her hellhole of a house out.

There were (literally) hundreds of prescription medications which her home helps had collected but that she hadn't bothered taking.*

This makes me wonder if we’d all live longer if we stopped taking so many prescription drugs. It would certainly help the NHS survive.

Seriously? An anonymous post on a CF thread on mumsnet makes you “question” prescription drugs and the NHS?

it doesn’t take much does it?! 😂

it was a joke FFS, Gwen82. Note to self - no irony on Mumsnet, oh dear me no.

Gwen82 · 26/02/2023 19:41

@OldMam you believe in “time slips” being a thing and infact quite a regular phenomena… so conspiracy theories about prescriptions, well not out of realm of possibility

Disagreeing with someone is fine.
To AS them and then use it against them in another thread. Bit weird.

Gwen82 · 26/02/2023 19:47

Didn’t AS! I was on the thread! And remember thinking… time slips? 😂

RicherThanYews · 24/02/2023 11:52

Unicornsdoexist, I'm sincerely sorry that you're going through this too. My sisters grave has been vandalised since the day of her funeral by our bio "father", her children take flowers and ornaments for her but they're either smashed or stolen. It's a horrible thing for anyone to do 💕

Thank you 😘

Stewball01 · 07/03/2023 10:51

What are CF's?

Cheeky fuckers.

Yellowdays · 07/03/2023 11:58

Pharmacy reviews from commissioners now happen in GP practices where people take several drugs.
