Anyone else’s hayfever gone crazy this week?!

Started my fexofenadine a couple of weeks ago in anticipation, but yesterday and today really suffering. Hayfever has starred with a vengeance 😩

Added eye drops twice a day yesterday and just added nasal spray as well tonight along with a bedtime piriton tablet too. Surely that lot will knock it into touch.

Me! In an awful state!!

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 20/02/2023 21:24

That explains a lot.🤧

I’ve been sneezing a lot recently and didn’t quite click it could be hay fever already 🤧🤧

Yes, me too. Taking an antihistamine in the morning but my eyes are hot, dry and itchy by about 6pm, so topping up with a Piriton then too. Bloody horrible

Hooklander · 20/02/2023 21:27

I was actually googling today what the max dose of fexofenadine is!

watchfulwishes · 20/02/2023 21:28

Yes me too, I'm so drowsy and weepy!

Is the hazel trees I think.

BernadetteIsMySister · 20/02/2023 21:30

Ahh! This explains everything. Dd has had swollen eyes, she heys hay-fever but I assumed it was far too early.

ggbbnn1 · 20/02/2023 21:30

Oh my days I've been wondering what's going on. Thank you 🙏😭🤍

randomusername02 · 20/02/2023 21:33

yes, im glad im not the only one. i started fenofexadine two weeks ago but its not really kicking in tbh, have changed over to store bought ones. my nose has been non stop running for the last week and now it has broken out into very painful (and hideously ugly) sores because ive been rubbing it too much. I dont normally get hayfever this bad, and im hoping its short lived.

Allverytricky · 20/02/2023 21:33

Oh thank goodness I’m not the only one - bloody February! Mine gets so bad by about March usually I end up with asthma attacks and bronchitis or something similar. I never see it coming though as it’s only this time of year I get asthma. Anyway I tried some fexofenadine today - not tried that before but Clarityn wasn’t touching it and I can’t function on Piriton. Is fexofenadine meant to be better? Felt quite drowsy today but that could just be the weekend catching up!

AlexaWhatsMyUsername · 20/02/2023 21:47

I had fexofenadine 120 prescribed this time last year as my previous OTC tablets and nasal spray weren’t cutting it.

I did find it really good last year but it doesn’t seem to be cutting it at the moment. It’s now available OTC and GP has said they will no longer prescribe so will buy it this year unless there is anything stronger available on prescription?

Ah! Yes! That would explain the sneezing and snot and feeling wretched! (I have no idea why it takes me so long to recognise Every. Single. Year.)

QuillBill · 20/02/2023 22:05

Yes, usually I get it in March but I have it this week too.

amusedbush · 20/02/2023 22:06

Ohh okay, I've been feeling "off" for a couple of days so that explains it! I actually took a decongestant tablet last night before bed as my nose felt stuffy, and my eyes are too dry for my contact lenses.

I suddenly developed hayfever a couple of years ago, not long after I turned 30 Angry

BogRollBOGOF · 20/02/2023 22:07

I started the anti-histamines last week. DH and I were out in the car, and at the point I twigged I had a sinus headace brewing out of nowhere, DH started Man-Sneezing.

At least it will wear off around July/ Aug...

pigsinoodies · 20/02/2023 22:08

Hazel at the moment. Doesn't bother me.

Hawthorn and oilseedrape in a month or two though, then elder. OSR is a bastard.

geogrump · 20/02/2023 22:16

I've started over the last 4 days, I know I'm a tree pollen sufferer but feels like it gets earlier every year!
I think the OTC fexofenadine is 120mg and I usually get 180 prescribed, hoping they will keep prescribing!
But either way I'm pregnant so on crappy loratidine which does absolutely nothing 😡

Bamboux · 20/02/2023 22:18

Ah this is interesting to see. Dh and dd both suffer with hayfever and asthma and have been really bad the last week or two. Dd has very red bloodshot eyes which is usually a summer thing.

DelilahBucket · 20/02/2023 22:19

Why oh why didn't I twig?! My eyes have been awful over the last few days. I thought it was tiredness. I didn't expect to be suffering this early 🙄

YesitsBess · 20/02/2023 22:22

Daffodils. The only thing that triggers my son's asthma is bloody daffodils, we found out quite by chance having been unable to explain the sudden seasonal attacks.

Spectre8 · 20/02/2023 22:31

Argggghhhh almost forgot to start taking mine early. I haven't had any symptoms yet although have been rubbing my eyes more lately but they aren't exactly itchy like hayfever symptoms would be, but it must be a sign!!!

Thank for the reminder

EmmiJay · 20/02/2023 22:40

My hayfever was kicking in from January so I've been on a constant rotation of beconase, loratadine and hydrocortisone for the itchies. So far so good😌

SgtBilko · 20/02/2023 22:45

Mine started a couple of weeks ago. On 180mg fenofexidine and dymista nasal spray. I kept thinking I was getting a cold and then twigged.

EmmaEmerald · 20/02/2023 22:47

I was thinking this yesterday! Bit early for it!

AffIt · 20/02/2023 23:58

Aha - this explains a lot.

Have been sneezing like crazy and itchy eyes, but I thought it was a bit early. I only developed hay fever for the first time about five years ago, I'm still quite new to all this...
