We've got a variety of sweet fillings we all like, but I'm stuck for savoury ideas beyond cheese & onion which dd2 won't eat.

Inspire me, please!😋

Spinach and eggs

Ham and cheese

I used to make chicken and mushroom in a curry sauce or use pancakes to make a cannelloni with bolognaise sauce.

Salmon/smoked salmon and cream cheese or creme fraiche

Oh pancake soup!

SquitMcJit · 20/02/2023 17:11

Cheese and marmite.

I say this every pancake day.

So delicious - teaspoon of marmite spread across hot pancake and then a handful of grated cheese. Roll up and the heat of the pancake melts the marmite and the cheese.

unless you hate marmite.

to be honest though on pancake day we just have the sweet ones.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 20/02/2023 17:11

Ham, cheese and red onion

chorizo, cheese and slices of jalapeño

Florissant · 20/02/2023 17:12

Chicken and asparagus.

Baldieheid · 20/02/2023 17:13

Ratatouille (from a can if you haven't got time to make your own) and cheese. Wrap up, snuggle into a dish and sprinkle with more cheese then bake for 15 mins or so.

My fav is the classic sugar and lemon juice though, gobbled almost straight from the pan.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/02/2023 17:16

Cream cheese/bechamel and mushroom (grate some nutmeg into the sauce).

Spinach/Chard and goats' cheese/bechamel (grate some nutmeg into the sauce).

Lasagne sauce (ie, bechamel) and bolognese.

Tikka chicken, mango chutney and yoghurt.

Mozzarella, tomato and mushroom, jalapenos or olives.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/02/2023 17:17

I do sweetcorn fritters

Happierwithouthim · 20/02/2023 17:18

Red onion relish and goats cheese
Bacon & maple syrup
Proscuitto, Goats cheese & spinach

Ayeitsme · 20/02/2023 17:20

The Pancake House at Centreparcs used to do a pancake topped with chilli, nachos, grated cheese, sour cream and jalapenos. It was lush.

I try to recreate that one every so often.

toastofthetown · 20/02/2023 17:20

Cheese and mushroom. Or any vegetables really.

I'm planning on making these this year, but without the ham, so just egg and cheese. There's also the galette saucisse, if she likes sausages.

WiltingLobelia · 20/02/2023 17:27

My favourite- seafood pancakes. (prawns and scallops in a bechemel- straight out my mother's 70s dinner party menu)

DH- leek and mushroom in a cheese sauce

DCs- grated cheese and ham

Bigmummaof2 · 20/02/2023 17:28

Oh it has to be bacon for me!

Or strawberries, banana & Nutella! 🥰

doadeer · 20/02/2023 17:28

I love spinach, mushroom and cheese but maybe kids wouldn't eat that?

Crumbled feta is nice inside too with sun-dried tomatoes and olives

WiltingLobelia · 20/02/2023 17:28

Oh and another mother 70s dinner party fave- diced chicken with peas, celery and carrots in a curry bechemel sauce. Topped with grated cheese and under the grill.

Mmmmm.

semideponent · 20/02/2023 17:43

bacon with apple sauce is amazing. Reminds me of a visa flit to Toronto over a decade ago and a random pancake restaurant.

Carrots and leeks with some grated cheese works well as a filling - sauté the veg then splash of water, crushed garlic, s + p. Whack the lid on, turn the heat down, let it soften. Assemble y putting filling on one quarter of pancake and folding half and then quarter.

GrumpyPanda · 20/02/2023 17:46

Minced beef and blue cheese.

Timetochangetheoil · 20/02/2023 17:52

Love savoury pancakes! My mum used to always make us them with bolognese sauce and cheese, served with these diced spicy potatoes on the side and peas. Sounds so odd but altogether it is soo good. We’d have these and traditional sweet ones on Shrove Tuesday, but savoury pancakes were one of our staple meals growing up 😋

catsonahottinroof · 20/02/2023 17:54

Ham and cheese
or mushrooms in a creamy white sauce with white wine in - I once did it with fizzy wine as that was all I had and it was delicious.
