How much do you pay for Sky (or alternative)?

I've been with Sky for 15 years and managed to keep prices relatively low. We have broadband and TV with them. I've got a few more months before the prices will change, but an advisor has just told me I should be paying over £100 for what I've got and I'm paying £68 (although that includes £7 for Netflix, 2 screen subscription). So I can expect prices to rise when I'm out of contract.

It seems so expensive when we don't have sport or cinema, just basic TV package. What do others do? Is it time to leave Sky and go onto something like NowTV and get broadband separately?

I've just cancelled Virgin media package.

They sent letter to say that the increase this year will be 13.9 % and from next year it will be by %inflation + 3.9%

No negotiation, not interested, loyal customer 20+ years.

I spend £45 with bt, that is with the entertainment package and includes Netflix and now TV. Sky are really expensive.

We are with virgin. Basic TV and phone and 250mg internet.

They wrote to us a couple of weeks ago increasing our bill from £66 to £93 a month.

Called Sky, got a comparable quote (more channels so we can do away with Now Tv, and more internet speed for £58.

Called Virgin back to cancel and they dropped down immediately to £53 a month! I really wanted to go with sky, just out of principle and that we can ditch Now Tv, but we would need to have a BT line installed (which admittedly they would have done at no cost) and Virgin have confirmed no price rise for us during the life of our new 18 month contract.

If Virgin go back on the price rise within the contract time I will cancel on the spot and go to sky, although I trying to convince DW to just move across next year anyway.

We pay £57 a month (going up to £64 next month) for a basic sky package with Netflix (no sports and movies) with HD & multiroom. The kids only really watch Netflix now so we are going to completely get rid in a couple of months and just buy fire sticks.

Does that include broadband?

Should have said, my package includes Sky TV, Netflix, and extra for HD, plus broadband. Maybe it's not that bad?

£71.50 for sky. No movies or sports but we have the kids package and Netflix, plus broadband and line rental. Every time I get to the end of my contract with them I call to cancel and get a big discount, my bill at one point was pushing £100.

£39 per month for Sky down from about £80 after I phoned to cancel. That includes Netflix, movies and a multi room box upstairs

Broadband is with BT as Sky broadband to the postcode was shockingly poor speed (6 plus hours to download a movie!)

I pay £14 a month (prime & Netflix) & don’t pay TV lic.

When Prime is up for renewal, I will cancel & change to Disney+ so similar amount to now.

I ditched Virgin TV years ago as I can watch everything I want with Freeview, Netflix, (DD pays)🙂, Prime Video ( I have Amazon Prime anyway) and a Firestick. I watch films free on my TV via Youtube as well.
I now have a landline with free weekend calls and 100mb broadband for £18.00 per month. The only extra I pay is for Amazon Prime and I share that cost with DS.

Sorry I should have said that is with Virgin Media. I have been with them for 28 years and haggle every time they try to put the price up. It was going up from £28 to £48 per month last December and I was leaving so they dropped it to £18.

I paid £40 a month for an old legacy sky package, called them last week saying I want to leave, I’ve got sky q and the signature package (exact same channels as my old one) for £18 months. Got sky cinema free for 3 months and Netflix free for 4 months. I switched my broadband to them too for £24 a month, superfast package! Both, 18 month contract!

Our basic TV is free (Freeview but there's also Freesat), broadband is £21 a month (Vodafone) and we just stream the odd movies etc we want to see via Google Play / Chromecast.

Occasionally get a month's membership for Now / Netflix if there's a particular series we want to see, but the memberships are pretty cheap per month anyway.

I think I pay £67

They said offers for new customers also now apply to existing customers.. so have a look on their website before you call! X x

We are out of contract (tv only) for sky and just carried on paying the same amount!
Be careful if you get a few months free of cinema etc as it's easy to forget and then it gets added to the bill.

I think we pay about £80 but have Netflix, multi room, cinema, f1, sky sports seems to have appeared on there too! I'm happy as I enjoy the sky channels and figured that's like 2 trips out to the cinema and we tend to stay in and be boring!

Out of contract with Sky, bill went up to £70 from £39!and is going to £90 next month.
called BT, £37.99 for bb and television with free Now tv and Netflix thrown in. Price remains the same for two years.

We pay £32 a month for mega broadband from Virgin. It’s extremely reliable and can cope with multiple people gaming/streaming at the same time.

Additionally, we have Netflix £11, Disney+ £0, Amazon prime £70 per annum, Paramount Plus £40 per annum and Now TV at £10 per month for cinema and entertainment.

That's ex losing my broadband which is with Virgin fibre for another £52

I think my sky is worth it but I'd love to cut my broadband fee. They've got me over a barrel though as it's SO QUICK

Cinema is on a deal for £6 per month for 6 months.

Only re-contracted in November and from April it's going up by £8.00 per month.

Oh and they didn't tell me just found it on the future bills part of my account!

£88 including Netflix, sports, movies and multi-room. We watch sports in particular a lot though so willing to pay, recently negotiated down from around £109 so definitely worth calling them.

£60 a month with BT includes sky, now tv, Netflix, phone and internet
