No one on here would admit to littering or not picking up dog poo? So who is it?

Prompted by watching a family at the weekend finish their KFC at a local beauty spot and toss the rubbish bag out the window. A couple and 2 kids.

And having to hopscotch through the dog poo on my walk to work this morning.

that kfc is shocking!
i think a lot of waste gets blown out of the bins
but a couple of teenagers sat near us at the beach, ate chips, left all their packaging behind!
atrocious.but teens - meh, trying to be cool.
a family is appalling.

90yomakeuproom · 20/02/2023 10:49

Sorry I once left a poo when I forgot a poo bag 😔 oooops

Crumpetdisappointment · 20/02/2023 10:50

where i walk there are no bins for dog poo, i collect the poo but see not everyone does, and once people leave it it encourages others to do the same
ok it disintergrates but dog poo is actually bad for the environment

LosingMyPancakes · 20/02/2023 10:52

Around where I live, a lot of the littering is kids on their way to/from school. On recycling days, you sometimes see them kicking bottles etc that they've pulled from the bins on the pavement and of course leaving them when they're bored. Also, the green bank behind our houses, they sit there eating and drinking and then walking off with the stuff left behind in the grass.

Reminds me of when my DH was cleaning the car in the summer and a bunch of secondary school boys walked past, one of the lads was dropping stuff out of his pockets past our driveway. DH picked it up, walked up behind him and loudly asked him if he dropped it by accident. The lads took the stuff back without a word and his face was a picture 😂

im rural and see lots of dog poo bags hanging on trees. Council can complain all they like but they don’t provide bins do put them in.

littering? Takes alsorts. Families, teens, older folk. They all do it

Crumpetdisappointment · 20/02/2023 10:59

i saw a woman in tunbridge wells chuck an empty sweet wrapper out of her car, i waved at her and told her what she had done, nicely of course, you have dropped that!
she took it back

Mrsherdwick · 20/02/2023 13:34

I followed a car to the local college when the boys in the car had thrown their KFC stuff out the car window. When they parked I confronted them, took their reg number and reported it to the college office.

Mrsherdwick · 20/02/2023 13:35

Oh and dog poo bags and no bins? Just carry the bag until you get home and dispose of it in your own bin you lazy/disgusting people.

JamSandle · 20/02/2023 13:49

I always notice cans or empty packets. Never actively see anyone leaving them though.

Pringleface · 20/02/2023 14:02

I live near woodland and there are a couple of coffee places near it. You almost never see someone strolling around without a cup of coffee in their hand but as soon as the drink is finished, they just drop the cup. We also get the groups of teens parking up and just launching their takeaway bags and cans out of the window when they’ve finished.

Last summer, a group of teens in a car opened the door and poured out a stream of nox canisters onto the ground. There was a bin literally six feet away. I was so annoyed that I just went ‘pick those up, please, and put them in that bin’. I was expecting to be told to fuck off but the driver actually got out and did it.

My brother. Its one of the many many reasons I think he's a twat. My DC pull him up on it every time.

cocksstrideintheevening · 20/02/2023 14:08

Uber drivers here like to drop their bottles of piss out of the window, they sit and wait for jobs in the free car park by the station.

Dog poo is not just bad for the environment it carries parasites. There's no excuse for it. People need to pick up their dog shit.

Sartre · 20/02/2023 14:16

A lot of litter is actually blown out of bins on windy days.

bigbluebus · 20/02/2023 14:22

In my village it varies. There's a footpath which curs through to our street and is the route to the village shop and the school pick up point. Litter is mostly crisp packets, sweet wrappers and fizzy drinks bottles so I'd say the local children are responsible.
There's a country lane around the corner with a few houses at the beginning and it then narrows with only 4 further properties spread out along the narrow bit. I walked it one day and couldn't believe the amount of litter (it had never been like that before). Got further down the lane where a farmhouse and barns are being renovated. There were at least 20 tradesmen's vans there. No prizes for guessing where all those sandwich wrappers and coffee cups came from then!

I went to litter pick in another part of the village. It was mostly beer cans, cider bottles and those vaping liquid refill bottles. A nearby neighbour told me it was the 'druggies' who hang around there in the evening.

So I don't think any one type of individual who is responsible.

Just about every A road by pass around here is absolutely strewn with litter on the verges. Every person passing is in a vehicle - an ideal place to keep your litter until you find a bin. I just don't understand why people lob it out of the window instead.

Blackberrybrandy · 20/02/2023 14:38

This drives me MAD, I grabbed this from a crap signs group on Facebook earlier and sent it to a friend because we also have a Stella man (or woman). Sometimes they mix it up and change to dark fruit cider and seem to have taken up smoking as well. They must just dump it from their car window as they drive along. Both of us have devoted too much time to trying to profile the offender.

Then there's the McDonalds wrappers dropped on the other side of the hill. One was wriggling as I got close to it in the car once - it contained a feral cat licking the breakfast wrappers. He's lucky that it was me that came across him and I stopped to assess what the hell was in there and pick it up. He only noticed there was a human and car nearby when I shook the bag to get him to back out of it so there's a good chance he could have been squished by another driver.

Dog poo has always been a problem in local villages but got noticeably worse when more people got dogs during covid. There are tonnes of poo bins, the only time that there is an issue is over Christmas when they don't get emptied frequently. Nobody is actively driving here to walk their dogs so there is a limited distance they'd be walking back to their own bins.

I like this one 😊

QueefQueen80s · 22/02/2023 00:39

A lot of it in our village is from HGVs and trucks and vans passing through 😡

VikingLady · 22/02/2023 00:54

If I ever somehow developed magical powers, the very first spell I'd do would be a nationwide one which meant any litter or dog poo left in the street instead of properly disposed of would find it's way into the owners' pockets.

Btjdkfnn · 22/02/2023 01:11

I was once in a McD carpark and a young woman in a clean and newish car tossed her entire McD brown bag of litter out of her window and drove off. She was parked about 10 feet from a bin.

ThoroughlyEnjoyable · 22/02/2023 06:16

At our local beach every summer it's families. Not only food wrappers, but also any possessions they wish to leave behind. Toys, shoes, etc. I talk to the local Veolia litter picker and he says their attitude is that someone is paid to remove it. But they lack manpower and much is washed into the sea. It gives me very dark thoughts each summer, and makes me wish for the end of humans.

MintJulia · 22/02/2023 06:44

Near me, there's a man in a green Nissan, with two teenagers. Most Fridays and Saturdays, they fetch MacDonalds, eat it in the car and then throw the containers out of the window as they pass my front gate.

I go and pick up their rubbish - every flippin' weekend....😡

They live three roads up. I'd love to store up their rubbish and then dump it on their front door step one Sunday morning, for them to deal with.

OMG, that is utterly disgusting.

Some people really aren't worth the air they breathe 😠

AtomicBlondeRose · 22/02/2023 06:51

I don’t want to sound sanctimonious but this is one thing I cannot understand. I can hand on heart say I have NEVER intentionally dropped litter. Maybe the odd wrapper has been blown out of my hand - I usually chase after them though! I clear my table in McDonald’s too! Actually the other week I took my Dd and 6 other girls to the cinema for DD’s birthday. They’re 9 and were obviously eating sweets etc. At the end I turned to ask them to pick up their wrappers and before I could even say anything one of them handed me a bag where they’d collected all the rubbish. I was really proud of them!
