Give me your top 3 things to do alone?

I have decided I'm an introvert. I like people and can be quite sociable but I find doing things alone calming and peaceful.

On the spur of the moment I bought a last minute theatre ticket and went alone. Had a bimble around town, took a book and had a drink in a bar then saw the show. I had a really lovely time.

So now I'm thinking about what else I can do. I often walk alone and go to the cinema, but what "treats" do you like to do alone?

Coffee shops and museums and swimming in the sea. Love being with my own thoughts, and have no desire to join one of the many ‘outdoor swimming groups’.

I’m an ambivert apparently - love being social but also love and need my own space/solo dates - I do all that have been mentioned so some more:

  • short beach holiday break
  • spa day
  • book event (e.g. author reading/signing)

Following with interest as I think I'm about to have a lot more time alone than I have had for the past ten years or so. I really prefer galleries and exhibitions solo, and also most cultural events. I'd probably go to a gig alone - and have in the past - but that is much harder.
A nice lunch and browse in a few shops - ideally a bookshop as one of them.
A trip somewhere interesting. Not sure how I'd feel about a solo holiday but am going to test the waters somewhere in the UK and see how I feel about it.

BanoffeeBoat · 19/02/2023 17:30

Pre-DC, go on holiday or out for dinner.
Post-DC, pee.

MagpiePi · 19/02/2023 17:31

Buying nice ice cream or expensive biscuits, and knowing they’ll be there until I decide to eat them. A luxury after living with teenage boys!

Spending all morning in bed reading if I want to.

Going for weekend breaks

Redebs · 19/02/2023 17:32

  • Hiking
  • Sitting in a nice cafe and watching the world go by
  • Doing something with my hands (painting and decorating, cleaning, crafting, gardening...anything) whilst listening to a podcast
Whatliesbeneath707 · 19/02/2023 18:08

I love alone time!
My favourites are:
Cinema
Swimming
Cafes for coffee & lunch
Training days & conferences on my own where I can choose whether to be chatty or not (work related)
Train journeys
Taking a secret leave day from work and going out for the day. Then on my return i tell my DH & DD where ive been!
Staying overnight in hotels

I would love a short 5 day break at the coast on my own but haven't got round to that yet.

ToiletRollTower · 19/02/2023 18:13

If I had a more glamorous life this would also involve drinking wine in the early afternoon in some bar somewhere, people watching
