Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've just sat down with my first cuppa of the day. Everyone's still sleeping so it's silent apart from the fridge humming away to itself. Just how I like it first thing!

We're off for a couple of things for my Rainbows and Guides today, from The Works at a local shopping outlet, then a wander round the lake to get to the bus stops on the other side. We'll probably keep going and get the bus into town from near-ish to Asda, so we can stock up on fruit at the market and look for a fairly cheap pair of school shoes for dd1. I don't want to spend loads atm, if I can avoid it.

When we get in, I want to continue with crochet broccoli's florets. He's to go with other Supertato props on display at work.

Dd2 will probably spend forever on call to her friends, and dd1 wants to do some more revision for her upcoming mock GCSEs.

I have no idea what's for tea yet - the freezer's starting to look a bit bare. I'll look before we head out. Should be something everyone likes left in there I think.

This evening will likely be more broccoli for me - I want to make his florets nice and puffy!

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning!

Just finishing my second coffee of the morning, then about to hop in the shower. I'm meeting a friend for a walk at 10, we will likely stop at a cafe and grab some lunch. Looking forward to a catch up with her as I haven't seen her properly since before Xmas. DP has gone out playing footy, and DD is a late riser so it's been a nice quiet morning for me so far.

This afternoon's plans are going to be DIY prep for tomorrow. I am repainting my bathroom so going to nip to B&Q for a couple of new rollers, I already have the paint. Looking forward to freshening it up, ideally I'd have liked to rip it out and start from scratch, but I can't afford that at the moment. Hoping some nice new towels and accessories will smarten the place up!

Good morning! As is usual here dh is at work, the two older girls are still asleep so it’s just me and dd8 awake at the moment. She’s full of a cold at the moment and bunged up but seems happy enough eating her toast and hot chocolate. I’m still in my pjs with my cup of tea waiting for my food delivery to come - it’s due any time in the next hour.

I’ve no real plans today. The house is clean so no housework to do and Dd8 is going to her friends at 2pm for a sleepover (they’re aware she has a cold and don’t mind as her friend also has one) so I might nip into town for a mooch but depends if I can be bothered, I may just stay home and enjoy the peace!

We’re having burgers and wedges for tea tonight then dd18 will be off to work later and me, dh and dd15 will probably watch a film before bed. It’s apparently global drink wine day today so I shall have a few glasses this evening (any excuse…).

mamaduckbone · 18/02/2023 09:14

Good morning @lucysmam!
I've just got back from an early run with my friend - we're half way to 5k and definitely motivating each other.

After this cup of tea I'll head up to get ready to meet some old work friends for brunch.

Dh is at work and both dcs are going to the gym this morning, then we're going to visit my mum this afternoon.
No doubt she'll have plenty of jobs for us all, but she adores seeing her grandsons. She's 90 and very sprightly.

It's the start of half term for us so I'm looking forward to a weekend without the usual jobs to do before Monday morning.

Simonjt · 18/02/2023 09:17

Good morning everyone, away game today, the last time we played these boys there was a big fight (them, not us), so lets hope today is a bit less dramatic. After we’ve got a club/family day at the home ground, so we’ll probably be out at that until early evening. Halfterm is just ending for us, so I need to get uniform and packup sorted for next week.

kathycomehome22 · 18/02/2023 09:20

Morning all. Usually I'd have a football match to attend today but ds doesn't have one so I took advantage of it by having a few glasses of wine last night. Feeling a bit fragile now!
Currently under a blanket waiting for dh to make bacon butties while dd plays on the mat.
Later we'll go for a walk to blow away the cobwebs and then have a takeaway tonight.

Razberryberet · 18/02/2023 09:24

Drinking coffee atm while dds watch tv and newborn ds grumps in his baby swing. Meeting friends later for a catch up looking forward to it as I've not seen them for ages!!

JorisBonson · 18/02/2023 09:25

Happy Saturday MN! Off for a bimble round a museum, a blustery walk and a pint with a friend. That's as exciting as my weekend gets!

popandchoc · 18/02/2023 09:29

Swimming lesson right now for youngest dd . Eldest has tumbling later this morning .
they should be going to their dads later so I might go to the gym then have a chilled evening watching tv .

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 18/02/2023 09:41

Morning! Can we see a display of your veg when they’re finished,
@lucysmam ? They sound fabulous.

Nothing too exciting planned here. I’m just finishing my coffee before I jump in the shower. DP’s getting DD dressed and overseeing tooth-brushing.
We’ll go out once her carers get here. Need to find a nice card for DP’s friend, whose dad has died. Other than that, not sure what we’ll get up to. It’s a grey old day, so we might just retreat to a cafe with our phones/books.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 18/02/2023 09:42

Morning! Was supposed to take DS to a birthday party but the mum has covid so it has been moved to next weekend. Having already told DS he didn't have to go his swimming lesson this morning I have decided to take him roller skating instead. He has never done it before and I haven't for about 35 years so hopefully we come home intact.

Just need to drop DH and MIL at the football on the way there and pick up some radiator valves on the way home. Hopefully the bathroom radiator will be fixed next week after not working all winter!

Then takeaway tonight with a glass of wine.

Decafflatteplease · 18/02/2023 09:44

Morning @lucysmam and all.

We are just coming to the end of half term here its been lovely 🥰

Quiet morning so far just how I like it. Teens and DH asleep I'm up with little ones. Got a uniform wash on, debating getting it out on the line as it's quite sunny and bright 🤔

Debating doing pancakes this morning as shrove Tuesday on Tuesday but Tuesdays are busy here so might get it done today, or wait till next weekend!

About to pop one of our favourite Curry's in the slow cooker for dinner.

After lunch we are off swimming.Don't know how much longer we will have our gym membership as can't really afford to renew so going as much as we can before it runs out!

Aforementioned curry for dinner then wine and TV with DH when DC asleep.

lucysmam · 18/02/2023 09:48

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool I'll try and remember! I'm rediculously pleased with the Evil Pea & the girls keep hiding the crochet veg around the kitchen 🤣

@Decafflatteplease you know when you're photographing your items to list on Vinted? What sort of background do you use?

We're shifting pancake day to Monday or Wednesday here as Tuesdays are busy for us too - busier this week as dd2's parents evening is on Tuesday so it'll be pot noodles all round for tea 🙈

Morning lucysmam and all.
I am drinking tea and contemplating the still unfinished hallway and stairs.
The plastic that was taped over all the doors for the first coat of paint is torn and hanging loosely, looking like ghosts, rustling when we pass through.
I have a large salvaged chandelier over the stairs, also wrapped in plastic, which gives off a strange diffused light. The whole area looks (and sounds) otherworldly and not like our house at all. If it wasn’t for all the boxes and chaos elsewhere, I might quite enjoy it, but will it ever be done?
After brunch and doing what cleaning is possible, I think I will go down to the land and plant some trees that are sitting outside the back door in pots. I say trees, they are more like twigs.
I have a kitchen sink and a door in the back of my van which need to be unloaded. The sink is for my eventual utility room, is ceramic and weighs a ton, but was a great bargain.
There's garlic and lemon chicken for tonight and then we are going out with friends to see a band and drink some wine.

Hi, I use a plain colour throw spread on our bed. I take a pic of front, back, size label, care label to show the material it's made from then any mark's or anything like that. I try to list a few things most days and find I get more sales that way. Also I price really cheaply think £1-3 and I post within 48 hours. Good luck!

OldTinHat · 18/02/2023 10:14

Morning all!

There's a local dark skies festival on today that I'd like to go to but a friend has asked for some tech help so I think today will be spent on the computer. Sigh!

I'm still in bed at the moment though. Trying to find motivation to get up!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/02/2023 10:17

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have already been shopping for dgs1's birthday present. The themes are all things Marvel and dinosaurs this year and Room on the Broom. So a Room on the Broom book, witch and Toney, Spiderman t-shirt and a blue whale and dinosaur activity book. I bought his baby brother a fisher price phone as he loves phones. So back home, a washing is on and I'm having a cuppa before the housework.

lucysmam · 18/02/2023 10:19

@Decafflatteplease that's really helpful, thank you. I have a day off on Monday with the house to myself so might make a start then.

@Giggorata garlic and lemon chicken sounds lovely - do you use a particular recipe? I'm always after something new to try.

Morning. Been out with doggies (twice - once really early, and just now), now relaxing with breakfast. Getting hair cut later. Hair dresser is just back from doing some fashion show work down in London so looking forward to hearing about it. Just taken delivery of my new car so driving over rather than the bus - ah simple pleasures, can’t wait!

cobblers123 · 18/02/2023 10:21

Meeting friend in town lunch time as need birthday card for my dad, 94 on Monday, so need to get it today. Mooch about around shops, coffee and toasted teacake in library, visit plant stall in what's laughingly called the market, then back home for rest of day.

When back home might do some gardening if weather OK, have hanging basket to make up and primroses to plant.

That's it!

It's super easy and well worth it I've found. The app talks you through it. Have a look what postage settings you want to offer and turn off any you don't want eg I only offer Evri as that's the closest dropoff to my house in walking distance. I also bought loads of post bags from Amazon some small some large and a tape gun thing so no faffing with scissors and sellotape. Kitchen scales are also handy to have to check the weight of items and therefore how much postage to select. I've been selling a few months now and generally get 15-20 sales a week but you do need to regularly upload to keep your items near the top of the feed. Little and often is best I find.

Scoose · 18/02/2023 10:29

Good morning! I'm doing as little as humanly possible as I've been up at 4am for the past four days thanks to our new puppy! I'm absolutely shattered! So today will be spent pottering about and playing with said puppy.

Giggorata · 18/02/2023 10:44

I use something like this, @lucysmam, although I nearly always modify it, according to what I've got in.

Morning everyone.
Lovely lie in until 8am - somehow both DDs stayed asleep until then.

Had a cuppa and started planning furniture/bathroom white goods/tiles paint colours for our loft conversion - got a start date in June yesterday so very excited. Worried that my taste and DH's won't align though 😃

Sorted kitchen, laundry, dishwasher and tidied a drawer that's been bugging me.

Now about to go back to bed with a cappuccino and my book for half an hour or so as no activities for DDs as half term - yay!

Then going to do a 15 minute yoga stretch, shower and pop to Aldi.
Then take DDs to Inflata nation for a bounce around and then home to pizza and a film. Try not to think about wine (national drink wine day???) but DH may persuade me!

devildeepbluesea · 18/02/2023 11:04

Morning! Start of half term for us, DD and I are currently sat on the train to London. Piccadilly Circus, shopping and a visit to family today. Lots of food and fun generally until Monday evening!

Happy Saturday all.
