If you have daughters

Do you pass down swimsuits- or is that as gross as underwear?

Unless you never wash either, I don't see a problem. The world is drowning in crap, reduce, reuse, recycle is the way forward.

lljkk · 17/02/2023 16:53

I would but DD is a snob. She'd pinch accept my regular underwear I'm sure if to her taste, but my swimsuits not fashionable enough for herself.

Undermyumberellaellaella · 17/02/2023 16:53

I wouldn't have wanted to wear my mums but if you're both okay with it then I don't see the problem.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/02/2023 16:55

I have son's, and would. Can't imagine why having daughter's would be that different personally, esp if we're talking pre puberty

Sorry I didn’t mean mine, I meant daughter 1 ‘s to daughter 2

Oh sorry I thought you meant from daughter to daughter, not Mom to older daughter. But still, assuming they're clean and not stained is give them the choice

lljkk · 17/02/2023 16:57

i passed underwear from one lad to next, so why not swimsuits.

PicturesOfLily · 17/02/2023 16:57

Yes I have put dd2 in dd5’s old swimsuits. They were barely worn and even now eldest has weekly swimming lessons, her costumes are only worn once a week in a chlorinated pool and then washed so I can’t see a problem.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 17/02/2023 16:57

None of my (4) daughters would have a problem with this; they always wear each others things.

Stickmansmum · 17/02/2023 16:58

Underwear and swimsuits yes. Absolutely.

MissVantaBlack · 17/02/2023 17:00

My DDs are very close and happily share all clothes, including undies and swimsuits. They get washed in between, so why not?

illiterato · 17/02/2023 17:00

Only have one daughter but have happily accepted hand me down swimwear from friends and passed on stuff dd has outgrown.

Pinkypurplecloud · 17/02/2023 17:01

As a small child my daughter had swimsuits passed down from cousins and friend’s kids. They’re washed, unstained and only ever worn for a few hours, I don’t see what’s to get squeamish about. I’d have passed between siblings but mine are opposite sex.

By tween age they wanted to pick their own stuff to their own taste, which was fair enough.

InsufficientMum · 17/02/2023 17:06

I passed down DS's swim (sun) suits to DD which she accepted until she was about 8 before wanting more girly designs. Also had underwear and a couple of swimsuits from friends' DC's which were then passed on to other families. Really don't see an issue.

MrsBunnyEars · 17/02/2023 17:10

DD wears her older cousin’s underwear and swimwear. Most of it is still in good condition so will be going third hand to DD2.

It’s clean, hardly worn and they’re all too little to have style preferences. I couldn’t stand the waste of buying new!

Extratoebeans · 17/02/2023 17:13

5 daughters and yes I do. Obviously as they get older different tastes have developed, so not always possible, but the younger ones always.

Undermyumberellaellaella · 17/02/2023 17:15

Sorry, I read the post wrong too. Yes, while they're young I would pass them on.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/02/2023 17:23

I did when they were small. They are very different shapes now so they couldn't share swimsuits.

Benjispruce4 · 17/02/2023 17:25

Yes!

MrBallensWife · 17/02/2023 17:26

Don't see an issue as long as its washed.Families use washed towels that have been used to dry other family members private bits so why is a swimsuit any different?

SpaceJamtart · 17/02/2023 17:28

Yes as long as they aren't worn out or stained at all.
I have twins and a younger daughter so the youngest gets double the hand-me-downs, with things like swimsuits she either picks her favourite or she gets the one that is in the best condition.

Same here, my 4 dds swap and change their clothes with each other all the time including swimwear.

MargaretThursday · 17/02/2023 17:35

I did when they were small, but once the younger was about 6 or 7yo she had the same size swimming costume-she was long in the body in comparison.

redundantsoon · 17/02/2023 17:37

Yes.

Forestdweller11 · 17/02/2023 17:37

The do go a bit thin/see through with chlorine though so if they are regularly in the pool prob not, but if it's for use on holidays/occasional use then fine.
