Narcissist boss

Germolenequeen · 15/02/2023 23:26

Unfortunately I appear to be working for one - so many red flags - ticks all the boxes.

She is the sole Manager - I need to keep my sanity until I find another job.

Any tips gratefully received 💐

Are you being funny?

Ruth212 · 16/02/2023 00:30

My tip is keep your enemies closer.
With naricissists it's difficult but basically they love attention so pay her a compliment or 2 to keep her off your back and get out of there asap.
Sounds a bit savage but that's probably the easiest way and doesn't require much effort. I've learnt this from years of dealing with them (family members)
You can't play straight with them and win.
Feel like I'm going to get bashed for this but I'm trying to be practical and help you.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 16/02/2023 00:31

Are you laughing?

@Ruth212

Thank you so much - sorry you've had to deal with family like this - it's stressful and exhausting 💔

Ziggyzagg · 16/02/2023 00:35

Just make sure you flatter her, make her feel amazing and always be ready to do anything to
make her day better / let her shine. She needs to feel like you think she’s a very important person.

Meanwhile find a new job ASAP

Germolenequeen · 16/02/2023 00:39

@Ziggyzagg

Thank you 💛

So you post an accusation with no evidence and you expect everyone to immediately agree with you?

What are your qualifications for diagnosing narcissism?

Ruth212 · 16/02/2023 00:46

@VeniVidiWeeWee How is she supposed to provide evidence exactly?
No need to kick someone when their down. Get a life and grow up.

Germolenequeen · 16/02/2023 00:49

@VeniVidiWeeWee

I am not going to engage with you any further - you seem to be taking this very personally and are very antagonistic.

I do not have to justify myself or my post.

No you don't.

We're both randoms on the web with no idea who's making things up.

No need to kick someone when their down. Get a life and grow up.

Some details of the woman's behaviour possibly?

Why do you believe everything an OP says?

I sincerely hope you're never on a jury.

Ruth212 · 16/02/2023 01:07

@VeniVidiWeeWee Because I believe her! End of

Germolenequeen · 16/02/2023 01:11

@Germolenequeen Ah no problem, I trust my gut and what's the harm in being nice to someone x

Believe what?

They have not provided any examples of any behaviour that may be narcissistic. And the OP still hasn't given any proof of their psychological qualifications.

D20 · 16/02/2023 07:11

I left. There’s no dealing with them (a bit like certain members of mumsnet really).

EarringsandLipstick · 16/02/2023 09:59

So go on OP, how do you know your boss is a narcissist?

Catspyjamas17 · 16/02/2023 10:00

What does she do that makes you think she's a narcissist?

flabbygoldfish · 16/02/2023 10:04

I had a couple of these. The people who thrive under them are yes people- just agree with whatever ridiculous rubbish they are coming out with. They hate been confronted or having to justify anything - they want total obedience. They are also covered in teflon but tend to blame the ‘told you so’ people- yes people are usually protected.

good luck with the job hunt

Germolenequeen · 16/02/2023 13:45

@flabbygoldfish

That's exactly the scenario at my place - she's decimated the confidence of the two women who have been there for years - they are a bundle of anxiety and nerves and desperate for her approval 🙁

Thanks for the good wishes 💛
