Where can I get a large oriental-style rug for less than £750?

I would love this rug for my living room but my budget is only £750. Would it be too optimistic to think I might get something mass-produced in a similar style and colour? Any recommendations on where to look?

Second hand shops.

TwistedSisters · 13/02/2023 10:52

Wayfair have a lot of rugs like that, also worth looking at rugsdirect.

Dunelm is always worth a look.

We bought ours from a market stall a few years ago.

Secondhand , keep an eye on actual auction houses, amazing bargains to be found there.

TrickyD · 13/02/2023 11:00

Local auction rooms? We have a couple of rugs from our auction. They usually have plenty.

bilbodog · 13/02/2023 11:01

Look in oriental rug shops - thats very expensive - you could get a much better rug than that one. Also ebay.

SaltedChoco · 13/02/2023 12:04

ikea!

DazedandConcerned · 13/02/2023 12:05

Is it a silk rug and are you wanting to buy the same? I buy mine from Egypt for much cheaper than Turkey or online. But I recognise that isn’t an option.

Just wanting to point out that if you are looking for a silk rug you won’t get one here under that price point unless it’s second hand on eBay.

Littleloveydovey · 13/02/2023 12:07

I just bought rugs from love rugs, and can recommend.

this one is similar and I think under budget. But on looking they seem to have a large selection of oriental and Persian.

I got a silk one for £50 from the local auction

trickyex · 13/02/2023 12:09

Auction rooms, FB, Gumtree, Ebay (have bought several second hand myself)

Littleloveydovey · 13/02/2023 12:10

This one is only 300 odd quid in your size.

I got similar in my local market - not premium wool version, obviously, but looks nice and is moth proof and spill proof. I think it was about £150. North London, can send you the details if you want.

peachgreen · 13/02/2023 13:31

Dunelm. I got two from there and obviously it’s not the same as having a proper one but they’re lovely and always get compliments.

Catoneverychair · 13/02/2023 13:39

For that price you can get second hand wool rugs off ebay.

Yes, please tell me which market. I'm close enough for a day trip.

I have this one from French Connection and I love it! They have a few nice ones and not the obvious place to look.

Mirabai · 13/02/2023 15:43

I sold some antique kilims on Gumtree for much less than a shop would have charged.
