Do you want fancy or fun?
Apparently the Alton towers water park is fantastic. You could stay the night in one of the hotels and go there.

Puddywoodycat · 12/02/2023 22:28

I just got really excited another Emma.

OK..... Slightly expensive for the hotel which I can see has dubious decor 500 ish for two nights may half term.
Expensive yes but the water park looks fabulous and the theme park is a huge bonus.

!!!
But WAIT. That doesn't actually include tickets!!!

PAY EXTRA FOE WATER PARK AND THEME PARK

My kids love Alton Towers water park but we always just get a day ticket and stay at a Premier Inn. Much cheaper and a good breakfast the next morning.

Don't stay at the AT splash landings hotel. It is hotter than the actual sun and you can't open the windows because the squirrels like to visit.

Puddywoodycat · 12/02/2023 22:47

I could not afford too.

Is water park timed? Can you spend all day there?

Bobbybobbins · 12/02/2023 22:47

Waterworld in Stoke is good fun. Splash Landings also great and obviously the theme park is added bonus!

feeona123 · 12/02/2023 22:48

Not a hotel but Coral Reef in Bracknell is great. Lots of hotels nearby.

Puddywoodycat · 12/02/2023 22:50

Alton towers definitely looks interesting with non resort hotel and I'm. Sure I've seen entry offers in soap.

I will also check out coral reef and that area.

Anywhere else?

In winter legoland hotel is awesome and cheap when the park is closed, that is if your kids are younger.

PermanentTemporary · 12/02/2023 22:54

The big Swansea pool is absolutely amazing. Sorry I've never stayed in Swansea itself but we had a great time at the pool.

Otherwise another vote for the Coral Reef.

All Premier inns are much the same really. Doesn't matter which one, just wherever has a good price within a half hour drive. Uttoxeter is closest but a bit pricier cos of that. Derby is OK, bit cheaper. I think Leek is OK too. I think the windows open a small way. Not loads.

On the alton Towers website the day tickets are £22/person over 3yo so for two it's £44.

Singleandproud · 12/02/2023 23:07

Look to see if the London Aquatics centre (the one from the Olympics) has their inflatable sessions on, its fab and then stay at the Premier Inn at Stratford?

Puddywoodycat · 12/02/2023 23:44

@AnotherEmma @Pascha

Thank you, I wouldn't have ever thought of this place or known it had a splash park.

I've found an absolutely stunning b and b really close by and even though it's further than I was expecting I think we could manage two nights.

Is two days in the pool too much? I notice it's only a two hour sesso

mycatsanutter · 12/02/2023 23:50

If you live near London I wouldn't travel all that way just to go to Splash Landings at Alton Towers tbh

Pascha · 13/02/2023 00:25

@mycatsanutter where can you recommend near London? I'd love a decent alternative that doesn't involve an overnight stay.

@Puddywoodycat weve never had a 2 hour restriction. About 4 hours is the max we've done, I wouldn't want more Tbh.

mycatsanutter · 13/02/2023 04:51

@Pascha I can't recommend anywhere sorry . What I mean is it's a long way to go . We live an hour away from Alton Towers and have driven to London a few times , if I lived near London I think a 3 hour journey is a bit much for Splash Landings , it's good but not absolutely amazing .

Puddywoodycat · 13/02/2023 08:06

@mycatsanutter
Thanks.

I think we would enjoy the country side as well and maybe go j to the park one day?
Is there anything else to do around there we would possibly have 3 days.

Coral Reed Waterworld is fab. I’m going this week and take DC every school holiday if I can but it gets booked up quickly.
Go early or the queue for the slides is insane.

itsgettingweird · 13/02/2023 08:18

If you're looking for water park then Splashdown in Poole is ideal.

It's in one of those leisure parks so loads to do and plenty of places to eat and stay.

Butlins bognor- they have hotel and the pool is great. We're not fussed on the rest but often go for a day trip to the pool. I haven't stayed in the hotel as we live fairly near but it looks nice

Favouritefruits · 13/02/2023 09:24

Don’t stay in the splash landings hotel at Alton towers, I’m not fussy I like a premier inn but splash landings is awful, tiny out dated rooms, very hot the windows hardly open, thin plastic mattress and the breakfast was disappointing with flys over all the food.

Pascha · 13/02/2023 09:29

@mycatsanutter that's OK. My kids love a Waterpark but there just isn't anything even remotely like it nearby so for us, it is a justifiable reason for a quick weekend away.

FTM2022SS · 13/02/2023 09:40

If you are traveling for splash landings take a look at thretham gardens - they have a monkey forest!
