Decent tasting decaff tea?

I have to have decaff for my first cup of tea each day sue to medication that I am on. I've realised recently that the brand I've been using is a bit bland and now that I've finished that box I'd like to try something new. Any suggestions? I'll be shopping at Lidl and Teco today, could also pop to Waitrose.

I’ve always liked PG tips decaf more than any other brand. I also quite like red bush tea, tastes different but in a nice way

LazyPig · 11/02/2023 10:29

Yorkshire Decaff is fab!

tanstaafl · 11/02/2023 10:30

Twinnings.
leave it in the cup to brew for at least 4 minutes

Another vote for Yorkshire, I've tried a few and it's the best I've found.

I drink Twinings Earl Grey Decaf before bed. But if I want a proper non-black non-caffein tea I either drink Rooibos tea or Greek Mountain tea.

PG Tips decaff. is my favourite. Let it brew for a couple of minutes.

HerbErtlinger · 11/02/2023 10:33

Pg tips is our favourite but I also quite like Dorset tea decaf

OhClunge · 11/02/2023 10:33

I have waitrose but you have to let it brewe for longer

cheshiremom · 11/02/2023 10:33

Pj tips or twinings are the best and I've tried most

Badtasteflump · 11/02/2023 10:35

I've never found one that tastes ok. I now drink Rooibos/Redbush or fruit tea. With Redbush you need to buy a decent one though - supermarket Rooibos teabags taste grim too.

Newusernameaug · 11/02/2023 10:35

Yorkshire tea decaf is really strong if that’s what you’re after! I mean strong flavour obviously not strong caffeine 😂

fivepies · 11/02/2023 10:36

Not particularly helpful as you aren't going there, but my favourite is Sainsbury's red label decaf. I also buy Twinning's earl grey decaf. It's expensive so I stock up when on offer.

SonnySideDown · 11/02/2023 10:37

Yorkshire tea is the best one. And I've tried many.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 11/02/2023 10:38

PG. I have mine black, though, and really hate strong ‘stewed’ tea.

Squidthing · 11/02/2023 10:38

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf

tortiecat · 11/02/2023 10:38

Clipper decaf is good!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 11/02/2023 10:39

Thanks all. Sounds like the consensus is either Yorkshire or PG so I'll see what Tesco have in stock!

Yorkshire.

WitchDancer · 11/02/2023 10:41

I use PG tips too

ReviewingTheSituation · 11/02/2023 10:41

I've been decaf only for years - I've tried them all!

Yorkshire definitely the best branded. I'm surprised at the love for PG Tips - that is second only to Tetley on my list of worst decaf teas. Tetley wins that by some margin though, it's terrible.

Sainsbury's Red Label and Waitrose essentials also score v highly in my book. Both a very worthy swap with Yorkshire.

Clipper decaf is good!

Ah yes. I knew there was another good one. V pricey though!

Another vote for Yorkshire Decaff

I like aldis decaff coffee grounds

GreatOak · 11/02/2023 10:44

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf! 🫖

Abraxan · 11/02/2023 10:46

Yorkshire Tea decaf tastes very similar to their non decaf version.

Annoyingly you can't get YT decaf as leaves though, so I tend to drink the caffeinated version now after years of decaf.
