Vinted/Evri

Does anyone know how Vinted/Evri sending stuff works? As in, when you drop off the parcel and get the drop-off slip, how does the 8-character number on the slip get turned into a tracking code?

I sold my first thing on Vinted. Dropped it off with Evri on Monday. Kept the slip. On Weds I tried to use the code on the slip to track the parcel but the website wouldn't accept that code. The longer tracking code that has appeared on Vinted says "waiting to receive parcel". I dropped it off on Monday!

Can't get through to any human on the phone. No idea how to find out what's happened to my parcel. Do I have to go back to the drop-off shop? What happens if they've lost it?

I had a weird thing this week where the buyer sent a label, I printed it and it was scanned when dropped off, and I was given a blue receipt. But the number on the back of the receipt related to a parcel that had been delivered a week before and it took two days for it to register on the app that I'd sent the parcel so I spent that time wondering how I could actually prove I'd sent it. If there is tracking showing on yours I would say it's probably still at the shop waiting to be picked up. There seem to be a lot of problems with Evri being slower than usual.

MrMarkham · 10/02/2023 11:30

But basically the slip I was given is totally unrelated to the actual tracking number and had one for a completely different parcel

1Wanda1 · 10/02/2023 11:31

God how annoying. Guess I will have to go back to the shop with the slip then.

Go to the conversation you've had with the buyer on vinted. Click 'track parcel'. Click 'track in evri' and you'll get all the details there .

I've done this, but on Vinted the message that then comes up is "waiting for your parcel". Which I dropped off with Evri on Monday!

Oh! It should have the parcel number in that message? Where did you drop it off? Can you ask if it went onto the van?

xogossipgirlxo · 10/02/2023 11:58

I returned parcel to H&M via Evri on 17th of February. 1 parcel. I have 3 random parcels assigned, two were delivered on 6th of Feb, 1 on 4th of Feb. I think I can guess which one is mine? Their service really sucks.

Kta7 · 10/02/2023 12:01

Vinted is absolutely infuriating to use in terms of couriers. InPost delivered the wrong thing to a buyer of mine over Christmas and Vinted held all the cards - it was so hard to work out what had happened at one remove. They refunded my buyer and tried to wash their hands of it. Happily, one small claims court claim later they have just refunded me my £7 + court fee (petty I know but it was the principle!). Hopefully your item will get moving in the right direction soon but don’t let them fob you off if it goes astray.

MyBeloved · 10/02/2023 12:04

You should definitely be able to see the tracking number on the evri page.

I can see the tracking number. The problem is that that tracking number then tells me that Evri is waiting to receive the parcel. I dropped off the parcel 5 days ago and have the drop off slip to prove it!

I'd send a photo to vinted and ask their advice. I've actually found them pretty helpful in the past. Been buying and selling on there for 2+ years.

1Wanda1 · 10/02/2023 12:16

This is the first thing I've sold and if they've lost it, it'll be the last time I sell on Vinted! It was an expensive item.

xogossipgirlxo · 10/02/2023 12:20

I would wait few more days, as you can see they got mine delivered after almost 3 weeks, but yeah, contact vinted to prove that item's been sent.

MyBeloved · 10/02/2023 12:23

It won't be the fault of Vinted, it will be the courier. Vinted are pretty helpful - just send them a pic of the proof of postage.

There are problems this week with Evri tracking updating in the app, it's taking a few days to update

MrNook · 10/02/2023 12:28

I posted 6 items this week and it wasn't until it was at my local depot that the tracking updated whereas usually it updates as soon as the parcelshop scans it

It happens every few months so don't panic

amylou8 · 10/02/2023 12:38

Evri parcels should scan in as dropped off on the actual evri tracking page within minutes. Then they should scan again that or the next day when collected, and about 5 more times as they move through the network. To miss one scan isn't unusual, but not to have a single scan in 5 days is. I'd go back to the drop off first, ask them to look for it. Then get on to vinted before they refund the buyer.

Evri is having technical problems at the moment which is why the OPs receipt card number isn't registering either, has happened to loads of sellers this week on Vinted

1Wanda1 · 10/02/2023 13:56

I am now raging. I've been to the shop, who understandably said they couldn't do anything as all of Monday's parcels were collected on Monday and it's in Evri's hands now. Call customer services. You have to enter the tracking number to the voice-robot, who reads it back to me (accurately) and says "I'm having some trouble locating that number. Please try later when you have the correct number."

So it's not possible to speak to a human. I thought: I will email them then. Go on website and there is no email address. Only a Chatbot. So I engaged with the chatbot. It asked for the tracking number, which I entered and it replied "this parcel is still with the sender. We'll let you know when we have it."

I left it at the drop off shop on Monday. It's not there, it's been picked up by Evri. Evri say they haven't got it, but have a system which does not enable you to speak to a human who might actually be able to do anything about this. WTF.

I think how it works is Evri collect it, toss it in a big pile with all the other parcels and if you’re lucky they don’t lose it/take a month to deliver it. I’ve stopped buying from Vinted because Evri are absolutely useless.

MrNook · 10/02/2023 15:34

OP have you read my messages telling you it's a technical issue with Evri this week where tracking numbers and receipt IDs are taking a few days to update?

You can email them on [email protected]

Roussette · 10/02/2023 15:50

@1Wanda1

I had a problem once with a return parcel to Uniqlo. I spent AGES trying to get hold of Evri exploring every which way, and the bot with the tracking number is useless.
The only way I got hold of them was via their Facebook site, FB messenger chat and I actually got a human. It was 9 to 5 only if I remember correctly. Do try it, because once I got through she was really helpful

1Wanda1 · 13/02/2023 15:59

I have now spent hours attempting to resolve this. It isn't possible to engage with a human at Evri. The phone and chatbot system take the tracking number, then say "we haven't received that parcel" and end the call/chat. The email address supplied by a poster on this thread has been deactivated.

Vinted disclaim any responsibility and say I have to take it up with Evri. I can't take it up with Evri for the reasons described above.

First and last time I sell anything on Vinted, and an expensive mistake.

Kta7 · 13/02/2023 16:28

Give it a bit longer and then if it doesn’t materialise, pursue Vinted through the small claims court. A ball ache but they conceded for me - I got value of my item plus court fee back. (Assuming Vinted arranged the postage for you.)

ninebiscuits · 13/02/2023 16:41

Did you print your own label? If so re download it and the tracking number is in the barcode...
