Vinted/Evri

Does anyone know how Vinted/Evri sending stuff works? As in, when you drop off the parcel and get the drop-off slip, how does the 8-character number on the slip get turned into a tracking code?

I sold my first thing on Vinted. Dropped it off with Evri on Monday. Kept the slip. On Weds I tried to use the code on the slip to track the parcel but the website wouldn't accept that code. The longer tracking code that has appeared on Vinted says "waiting to receive parcel". I dropped it off on Monday!

Can't get through to any human on the phone. No idea how to find out what's happened to my parcel. Do I have to go back to the drop-off shop? What happens if they've lost it?

Vinted are usually very helpful and I've never had an issue with refunding. How odd!

Did you print your own label? If so re download it and the tracking number is in the barcode...

Yes printed own label and I know the tracking number. The problem is that the tracking number has no information attached to it and the drop off receipt is apparently also not connected to any parcel. Maybe the person I gave it to at the drop off shop didn't scan it in properly. I don't know.

Vinted have disclaimed all responsibility, won't provide any means by which I can actually speak to a human agent at Evri, and have cancelled the transaction "because you didn't send the item". Which is maddening.

I'm seriously considering a small claims claim because this is just not acceptable.

For the benefit of anyone finding this thread who has a similar problem, do not do as another poster suggested and try to engage with Evri customer services on Facebook Messenger. I found what appeared to be the Evri account and messaged it. They replied asking for name, phone number, email address and address. Then they asked me to download an app called Anydesk from the App Store so that they could assist me "via your device".

Whatever they had planned to do via my device won't be happening, but this is a nice little scam to draw in people desperate to get some actual help from Evri in relation to their lost parcels.

I’ve had the same issue today. Posted two parcels with Evri. Tracking hasn’t updated to say I’ve dropped them off and the slip the lady gave me doesn’t match to the two parcels I posted. Instead it comes up with a parcel delivered 3 weeks ago that has nothing to do with me. Don’t know what to do. I’ve been back to the shop and the lady said the parcels have left the building so nothing they can do sad 😞

I'd suggest communicating with your buyer, if you haven't already. I've had a couple of parcels arrive without tracking (for various reasons) and always made sure the sender got their money - even if Vinted had automatically cancelled it as 'not sent'. If your buyer is an honest person I'm sure they'd do the same, assuming the parcel does make its way to them.

Were you messaging their official FB page? Doesn't sound like you were? Have you tried emailing them?

1Wanda1 · 15/02/2023 10:50

Can't find any email address for them @MrNook . The [email protected] one posted on this thread is no longer operating as a customer service email and emails to it aren't read (I received a message telling me this).

And can't find any Facebook page for Evri. Plenty of pages using the Evri logo, but which are obviously not the company's page

Gosh this is so annoying for you!

MrMarkham · 16/02/2023 10:00

After my last experience (which did eventually get to the buyer) I am very wary of sending anything now as there was no way to prove I'd dropped it off.

Hello @1Wanda1 did your tracking ever get sorted?

1Wanda1 · 01/04/2023 07:41

No! The package just disappeared into the Evri black hole, never to be seen again. Evri's "customer service" is set up to avoid the possibility of a customer ever getting human attention, and if your tracking number doesn't reconcile to anything (because they didn't scan your parcel in properly in the first place), their phone system just says "call back when you have the correct tracking information" and hangs up.

Vinted were similarly unhelpful.

So I lost my expensive trainers and didn't get the £100 I had sold them for.

Did you try the small claims court? Takes 10 mins, there’s the risk you’ll lose the £35 fee if they find against you but Vinted conceded in my case. I was willing to risk losing £35 on principle! Ridiculous they take control of delivery out of your hands and then deny all responsibility if it goes wrong.

FromWalesAndBackAgain · 01/04/2023 19:24

@1Wanda1 tgat is so frustrating

I might do this. Interestingly there was a complaint to the Money section of the Sunday Times recently about a similar disaster with Evri and when the ST contacted them, miraculously they repaid the person
