I’m really tired of that sex toy advert ^^^

I suffered sex abuse and I don’t like how it’s put up there for me to accidentally click on it when I look at the lists of posts. Please get rid of it. I don’t want sex invading my safe chat spaces especially where I am thinking about my parenting decisions. If I want sex toys, I will look for them.

Hear Hear

KickAssMumma · 08/02/2023 08:35

Me too. I hate the thing. It’s vile

Shunkleisshiny · 08/02/2023 08:36

Yes.

WandaWomblesaurus · 08/02/2023 08:36

Agreed. I feel the same OP.

hettiethehare · 08/02/2023 08:38

Agreed. And I know I can hide it, but please can we automatically hide the sex topic on Active Topics again.

Agreed

nxa · 08/02/2023 08:41

I agree too. I can ignore adverts for the most part, which is just as well on this site, but trying to make it look like a chat thread is beyond the pale and very tone deaf of MN.

dudsville · 08/02/2023 08:44

Is that the "promoted by mumsnet" thread about "the whisperer", because we don't have the option to hide/delete that, do we? I'm also tired of seeing it. I wonder if it's too sophisticated or an IT stretch to have it only appear on the sex section of MN?

Pumpupthejampumpitup · 08/02/2023 08:47

Agreed. I’ve nearly clicked on it several times by mistake. It ‘sits’ in that blurry area that looks like a thread. But isn’t.

newnamethanks · 08/02/2023 08:50

Agreed. Mumsnet pimping for the manufacturers. How very modern and liberating.

MobyJeff · 08/02/2023 08:52

I completely agree. Sick of having to navigate these stupid, invariably irrelevant to me ‘promoted by Mumsnet’ pseudothreads

FriedEggs1 · 08/02/2023 08:52

Download Adblocker. It's a brilliant app and you won't get any ads on any website any more.

HappyPumpkin81 · 08/02/2023 08:56

Me too. Utterly fed up of it. I’ve started to wonder if there is something wrong with me as I’m not obsessed with sex toys!

Xrays · 08/02/2023 08:58

Me too. The added thing of the sex topic now popping up in active threads is also jarring. (I’ve hidden the topic). Sick of it all.

FenghuangHoyan · 08/02/2023 09:01

+1.

I didn't realise Adblocker would get rid of it. I'll install it now.

Really I should leave the site and get on with my life, but maybe later.

TheFunSponge · 08/02/2023 09:07

Agreed. I can’t hide it and I feel ill when I see it.

WrendaleCountryDogs · 08/02/2023 09:07

Get an ad blocker?? I don't see any adverts on here as I've got ad block.

RainyDaysareCarp · 08/02/2023 09:08

I agree and have often thought to screenshot how it sits sometimes in with other topics!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/02/2023 09:11

I agree - I'm sick of the ad and I don't think threads about rimming belong on the front page. Have some class, Mumsnet.

Tenpintonpin · 08/02/2023 09:13

Agreed.

gailforce1 · 08/02/2023 09:14

I rarely post but feel compelled to add my voice to this. How could MN could be so tone deaf over this when posters themselves are so careful to to add TW to any thread they consider my be upsetting to others who may have suffered abuse? Please MN listen and remove.

Lovemusic33 · 08/02/2023 09:15

I have noticed that the sex topic posts have been appearing on active threads again, they used to be hidden?

The add is annoying. I am pretty open minded but people should have a choice of seeing it or not. It should be on the sex topic board and hidden from the main active board.

ItsAnOrgasmNotAFabergeEgg · 08/02/2023 09:16

I use DuckDuckGo as my browser after reading a thread on here about it, so I don’t see any ads on any website. It can block access to other things occasionally too, like links etc but then I just copy and paste into safari or something. So nice not to be bombarded with visual noise while reading online.

ThreeFeetTall · 08/02/2023 09:23

I use the app and there are no adverts.
