Good series to watch over a weekend

DH is taking the kids to his parents this weekend, leaving Friday after school getting back tea time Sunday. I am beyond excited. I'm planning on parking my arse on the sofa and doing very little other than watching TV, reading and eating anything I want. I need recommendations for a decent series I can do over the two days. Think Happy Valley, Love Life or Fleabag, easily digestible, holds attention but done and dusted in 6-8 episodes. I like crime, murder, romance (but funny). Nothing too heavy. Thank you!!!

Catastrophe - on all four.
Very good.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 06/02/2023 20:13

Hmmmm

Mind hunters
Wednesday
The Last Kingdom

Not exactly the type you asked for but I found they went down easy

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Bridgeton. Esp the 2nd series.

Are you sure it’s on all4? I’ve been wanting to watch it for ages but can’t find series 1

Lapland123 · 06/02/2023 23:23

You

ten episodes per season, 3 seasons, all about 40 min episodes

5 episodes of S4 coming out end of week.

If you work hard this weekend you’ll have it all covered by the time they get home!

It’s fabulous!

Crime element, love ( well, stalker type love) and some humour especially in S3.
You’ll love it!

Not exactly what you described (but I do like the programmes you mentioned) - The Traitors on IPlayer was brilliant if you haven't watched.

Me too! Second series funnier than first

White lotus! Bloody loved it!

SweetBonanza · 06/02/2023 23:36

Oh I loved Bridgerton. Pure filth and entertaining as hell. And the leading men are very easy on the eye in both series

SAS Rogue Heroes (WWII)
The Serpent Queen (Renaissance France)
Interview with the Vampire (2022 series)

Ted Lasso or Slow Horses on Appletv+

ZenNudist · 06/02/2023 23:38

Bad sisters on apple TV. Dark comedy/ dramedy.silly but bingeable. Fab female cast. Sharon hogan (motherland and catastrophe) wrote it.

Worth subscribing for. I'm now a bit hooked on apple and thinking of ditching Netflix for it for a while.

Now enjoying shrinking, the morning show, and severance. Lining up the new shows to watch. Previously enjoyed Ted Lasso.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/02/2023 23:38

Ted Lasso Apple

ZenNudist · 06/02/2023 23:43

This way up (another Sharon horgan show with Aisling Bea) is on Netflix or maybe bbc I've lost track. That's a sort of comedy about a mental breakdown. Pretty good based on the shows you like.

Loved the second more than the first series

The Stranger

Unforgotten

Some of the stuff I’d recommend is probably too much to get through in a weekend. I loved The Last Kingdom and Vikings, but you’d be hard-pressed to do either in a weekend.

Agree with a pp re Mindhunters.

Inventing Anna is good, maybe followed by The Tinder Swindler. Dahmer was another good one.

Quite enjoyed Yellow Jackets - Season 2 is due very soon (may be out already).

MuseThrower · 07/02/2023 02:28

Only Murders in the Building.
Bad Sisters.

It might take more than a weekend but 'Money Heist' - it is in Spanish but don't let that put you off.

I'm currently watching 'the shooter' series 2, not much humour in it though.
