Candy stripe bedsheets

Does anyone else remember these? When I was a kid I had lovely soft candy stripe bedsheets. Mum used to wash them and put them straight back on my bed because they were my favourite.

I think they were brushed cotton, and the rainbow stripes were narrow and in soft pastel shades rather than super bright.

I'm trying to find some online in king size but nothing looks quite right. All too bright or with thick chunky stripes.

Has anyone found anything like this? A bit of a blast from the past, I know, but they were so comforting and I could do with that right now.

There’s a vintage candy striped sheet on eBay and I saw some for sale recently in a charity shop.

Roselilly36 · 08/02/2023 20:13

Yes, my lovely great aunt had them.

I know exactly what you mean and I loved these.

Never had them, tho insist on good pure cotton bedding these days, so much nicer than polycotton

I know this is an old thread but did anyone ever find these sheets or try any of the ones suggested?
The damart ones look the closest and I remember in the 90s that seemed to be a good place for bedding but the reviews are not great for their sheets now

I dream on and off about recreating the cosieness of my childhood bed but with all the 90s revival going on at the moment I'm really determined to find some!

It's funny you should bump this today. I was in a charity shop yesterday and they were selling flannelette candy striped sheets and pillowcases for £1 per sheet and £1 per pillow case pair. They were vintage 70s/80s and in really good condition.

Can't beat flannelette sheets! I remember the striped ones well, though we just have plain ones well. I'm still on tge lookout for the right candlewick bedspread, too!

Dunnes Stores in Ireland had candy stripe pyjamas this summer to match the sheets (because everyone in Ireland had those sheets!). I was falling over myself to buy them till i realised they had long sleeves but short legs. What the heck! That pattern is clearly for cosy winter jammies. And now the summer ones are out of stock and there's no sign of that pattern in their winter designs. Madness. I don't know what they were thinking.

I inherited my Grandma's candlewick as well. I love it!

Google retro / vintage flanelette sheets candy stripes and look under images.

Etsy and EBay options come up.

Strangely enough I bought some of those and currently have the matching pillowcase on my pillow.

Soft flannelette ice cream stripes. I'll have a look where I got them from.

OP here - no I still haven't found any that are right, but I'm on the lookout!

@teteddybearsbear I bought the ones linked to, some from Amazon and some from a bedding site

They are amazingly soft and cuddly but not the quality of old, I already have a hole in one and the fitted sheets don't fit very well
