Why / how would FH have this woman in WhatsApp?

FluffyBunni · 27/01/2023 20:14

Was checking a family member message on husbands WhatsApp whilst he did our DC bathtime- he doesn't normally mind me using his phone though I didn't specifically ask on this occasion. I opened WhatsApp to look for the message I'm looking for and see he's received a message earlier today from a young woman saying "hey Liam, can you grab some food for me". Husbands name is NOT Liam. Woman's number is +63 which is Philippines. Photo is a young Filipino looking woman.

What is this alll about?

It’s spam.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/01/2023 20:15

Spam

OR “food” is code for condoms and Liam is his alias, he’s having an illicit affair

What does FH stand for?

FluffyBunni · 27/01/2023 20:15

Oh god sorry - typing error. I meant my DH

If it's spam then how? I've never ever received an unsolicited message on my whatsapp. Only ever contacts.

Either a fake name he's given another woman/sex worker or spam.
I've had spam in WhatsApp before. Had he already seen the message?

flagpole · 27/01/2023 20:20

I never had until recently and then got something equally as mad.

ihatewinter2 · 27/01/2023 20:20

It's spam! I got one the other day that said 'hey Sarah, the chip shop opens at 11.30' and a couple of months ago had another random name and message x

Lcb123 · 27/01/2023 20:20

Surely spam - I’ve had a few before

FluffyBunni · 27/01/2023 20:21

Yes the message had been read but no reply. It was received while I was out earlier.

If Spam then how? Do you guys who've had this before go online dating or anything? I just can't fathom how some hot young Filipino got my husbands number.

Itstarts · 27/01/2023 20:25

It's not a hot young Filipino woman. It's probably a middle aged, greasy, slime ball male using a hot young Filipino woman's photo.

They just literally press random numbers until they get a hit

its not a hot young woman, it’s some troll in his mum’s basement

do you not trust your husband?

LaTangerina · 27/01/2023 20:27

It's a scam my partner had one from Thailand the same the other day

MichelleScarn · 27/01/2023 20:28

Oh no!! Do you mean Tatiana who wanted to know if I was still wanting to meet for coffee tomorrow isn't really real?! 😄 she said she was so excited!
Defo spam!

LaTangerina · 27/01/2023 20:29

His didn't mention a name but said the same about food. We texted back wrong number then they were asking for his name etc so its just trying to get someone chatting to get information. Was WhatsApp too. Block the number.

FluffyBunni · 27/01/2023 20:29

We've been having issues about our sex life recently due to having young DC etc. Today I was out and he was having a rare day off at home when this message seems to have arrived. This has made me feel a bit paranoid.

We have had a really good chat this afternoon and I thought we'd found a way forward but then I found this message.

Spammers buy hacked phone database lists. For example:
WhatsApp data leak

Tiabi · 27/01/2023 20:36

Probably spam, I've been having a lot of WhatsApp spam recently, ranging from random ones about getting food/clothes to people pretending to be recruiters. They want you to message back and be like im not Liam! What food etc to see which number is active, who will respond etc.

leithreas · 27/01/2023 20:37

The message means nothing. I've had messages like that. I've been married for 20 years never been on a dating site, and never done anything even remotely dodgy. It's just a randomly sent message in the hopes that some stupid horndog will reply and they can get money out of them.

Hawkins001 · 27/01/2023 20:38

@FluffyBunni
Sounds like a coded message for an operation

Don’t let the paranoia of MN get to you - it’s just a generic spam message.
Your husband isn’t cheating and it’s certainly no reason to be annoyed at him.

Somebatshitteryonhere · 27/01/2023 20:43

For goodness sake. What’s wrong with you op. At what point did you think your husband was picking up food for a woman in the phillipines. I mean fucking hell. Star Trek is pretend. We can’t really teleport.

cringing for you and your Jealous insecurity. That’s off the scale.

😱

Mummyboy1 · 27/01/2023 20:44

I've had a spam message like this, usually about a job or a house sitting, always from abroad.

I have started getting spam messages in WhatsApp so it is possible. I think I have had more since using online pages to advertise things for sale (think…gumtree etc). I have had a couple in the last month.
