If you arrived at a holiday home. What would you like to see in the welcome basket?

I currently put in prosecco, crisps, sweets, bits for children.

But also some nice treats like biscuits, cakes etc

GherkOut · 25/01/2023 21:30

Something produced locally..

MzMarple · 25/01/2023 21:34

@GherkOut you have just minded me that I also put in local fudge and tablet. Plus cans of irn bru, chutney, oat cakes, shortbread, prosseco, tea cakes, crisps and sweets.

I've put this out for a few years now so looking to change it up. I also add in extra bits for Easter, Christmas etc.

AdaColeman · 25/01/2023 21:35

Tea, biscuits, bottle of nice squash, apples & oranges.

Woolandwonder · 25/01/2023 21:36

Bag of coffee, biscuits, wine/fizz.

CheeseandGherkins · 25/01/2023 21:37

Bread, milk, tea bags, biscuits, butter, juice, cheese, chocolate, crisps and maybe some croissants and jam. We don't drink so alcohol would be a waste for us.

ricepuddin · 25/01/2023 21:38

A bit cliche but any of the local produce

BurscoughBooths · 25/01/2023 21:39

Nothing, thanks. Just make sure there’s plenty of loo roll & dishwasher tablets

I'm guessing you're in Scotland?!
You sound lovely.
I think I'll come and stay.

Love the idea of Scottish and local things...
Maybe local businesses might give you taster/sample sizes at good prices, so guests can buy from them during their stay?

Ah, you're in Scotland 😀
A pack of potato scones?

I cross posted with you.
"I minded", was the giveaway for me, I stayed with friends in England for Christmas and had to explain it, they also found, "up the stair", amusing 🤣

MzMarple · 25/01/2023 21:43

@BurscoughBooths I put out everything for my guests. Washing up liquid, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, tin foil, oil, loads more and enough for a full stay. Oh and hand soap.

@GherkOut bingo!! Yeah I am in Scotland so went with a Scottish theme. Will look into more local products. Sadly covid, economic crisis has shut a lot down. Would send you our link but don't think you are allowed to advertise on here.

Sounds perfect!

I bring my own milk & tea, and enough for breakfast. I don’t need extra food!

ricepuddin · 25/01/2023 21:51

Maybe brochures for local attractions as well? Just for convenience

MzMarple · 25/01/2023 21:56

@ricepuddin I put suggestions in the welcome folder along with the website address.

@PicklesAndTequila I always forget about potato scones. In our house we say "up the road" Grin

@MzMarple it sounds perfect as it is. You might be fed up of putting the same things out, but your lucky guests won't be fed up of it!!

if you want to change this, then any new local bits, with details of where they can be bought would be good.

I agree milk can be tricky, it's probably best to ask guests before they arrive.

I drink coffee with cream & black tea. No milk needed! If I knew if there was a coffee machine there & some double cream I'd be very happy.

gogohmm · 25/01/2023 22:22

Last one I stayed in had coffee beans (there was a grinder and cafetière) & tea bags in containers, to be left if not used, 4 pints semi skimmed milk, home made bread, home made jam, butter from neighbouring farm and a large cake. Sugar in a jar again to be left, plus oils, herbs and spices on an honesty basis (note said please replace if you use them up).

Really excellent place, slept 10
