How do you use your robovac?

Just that really.

ATM mine goes into whichever room I choose as soon as it’s charged. Probably goes on 3-4 times a day and always full of dust.

Anyone care to share?

Our Eufy shuffles around the kitchen twice a day to keep the dog hair under vague control; she collects three full loads of dust and hair on one charge. I'm always horrified by how much is still there when I do it properly with the real vacuum cleaner. Eufy is a very half-hearted housemaid (eg, Ruby in Upstairs Downstairs) but without her we'd live in even more of a hovel than we currently do so I appreciate her efforts.

Stardustkid · 24/01/2023 22:24

Ours goes around once a day and am also horrified by the amount of dust he finds. I may also talk to him like he’s a pet if he gets stuck on something or has another issue.

Theoldwoman · 24/01/2023 22:24

Thanks for your reply, that’s great you get so much on one charge.

I have one upstairs and 1 downstairs
They are timed to head off once a day

Triffid1 · 24/01/2023 22:28

Mine doesn't go on nearly as much as other posters but I love him.

Usually goes on in our room every second day - dark wood floors and a white dog!. Downstairs in kitchen/dining/lounge about twice a week and middle floor with kids rooms and landing once a week.

I love him. He is life changing. Before Eufy dh vacuumed house once a week.... maybe. This is much much better.

Triffid1 · 24/01/2023 22:29

Also, eufy is better than regular vacuum. Not worse.

Bard6817 · 24/01/2023 22:32

I love this post.

One day i will have a robo vac for each floor and i’m sure i will treat them like pets too.

Hope they get on with the cat, but she hates the vac, so i wait until she goes out on one of her wanders. She may freak when it has its own schedule.

Theoldwoman · 24/01/2023 22:34

I talk to mine too, especially when he gets stuck (again!)

Mine goes round the ground floor of my house each morning at 7am he does about an hour of bumbling around before heading back to his charging station, his little bin is always full of dust and dog and cat hair so he works hard and it gives me a nice warm feeling when I hear him head off for his morning work Smile

Theoldwoman · 25/01/2023 04:18

Ha ha red, well described!

I've gotta question, if you don't mind. We have hardwood floors, with many rugs of different thicknesses. The den, the hall, the dining room, the living room (3), in some cases rugs on rugs.

How well does a robot vac copy with going from floor to rug?

CanadianJohn · 25/01/2023 04:44
  • COPE. (I blame autocorrect, not fat fingers.)
Theoldwoman · 25/01/2023 04:44

Canadian - mine goes up and down different thicknesses just fine. It really is amazing!

Mine pootles round once a day, a lot of our space is open plan with hard floors and rugs which he manages fine. Occasionally we let him loose in the bedrooms (carpeted). My floors have never been so clean.

torquewench · 25/01/2023 04:58

I'd love one of these and am a bit jealous of you all.

However, I have an incontinent cat and I fear that a robot vac would only result in disaster all over the carpet instead for being contained to its usual spot 😏

Fluffnotscruffy · 25/01/2023 05:18

Meryl sets off every morning at 8am for a spin about downstairs, usually waking the dog and he growls and grunts at her.

I bring her upstairs around once a week, usually at weekend.

Caspianberg · 25/01/2023 05:51

Our eufy goes on at 7am every morning. It does most of downstairs whilst we are getting ready upstairs, and I send him back to charge base when we come down for breakfast

ModerationInEverything · 25/01/2023 05:59

Quentin gets to work early during the week, 6am but he's allowed to rest until 8am at the weekend, doing the living room and hall. Then he does the kitchen/dining room in the afternoon, and the bedrooms on a Friday.

FawnFrenchieMum · 25/01/2023 06:05

Keith does our hallway and kitchen every night at 7pm, the carpet has never looked so clean. We’re in a three story so don’t bother moving him upstairs but because the entrance way / hallway is much cleaner it stops us all bringing stuff upstairs on our feet.
Ours also mops if you change his base, so we do this once a week for the kitchen floor when we’re all out at sports on a weekend (including the dogs as they stay in the kitchen when we are not home).

kilos · 25/01/2023 06:11

Mine spends half of its time trying to sneak back to its base when it's not finished, the other half being stuck on things and then screaming for help.
It copes much better upstairs though, probably as it knows it can't get back to the base without a fatal journey down the stairs...

BruceAndNosh · 25/01/2023 06:28

Mine is oversexed and will try to hump various bits of furniture (there is something the "wrong" shape in the 3 most essential rooms) so can only be used under vague supervision. Otherwise I'll come into the kitchen and find him jiggling on the base of the bar stools like an overexcited Jack Russell

AceofPentacles · 25/01/2023 06:32

Rob goes off a few times a week, downstairs only as he gets stuck under the bed upstairs.

mistopheles · 25/01/2023 07:14

I have three - one upstairs and two down. One works harder than the others but she's happy to be the busiest. Her filter is currently on the draining board.

ponygirlcurtis · 25/01/2023 07:27

@Fluffnotscruffy Meryl Sweep, I am guessing? Genius.

Ours is Bob (just because it's a funny word) and gets put to work in a different area daily. I always leave the light on in that room (Bob doesn't like to work in the dark). He's become a verb in our house: 'Just going to Bob the living room.'

I would looooove one that mops too!
