Just stubbed it so hard on my vacuum and it's throbbing and gone white.
Any tips? Other than wine? Feck that hurt ...
Might watch Emily in Paris and apply the emergency frozen peas to it ....

Strap it next to the one beside it for a week to try and keep it straight.

riotlady · 17/01/2023 22:21

Rest, ice and ibuprofen. My sympathies, I did mine about a year ago and it was so painful! Turned a beautiful shade of purple

Hollyhocksandtulips · 18/01/2023 06:16

Bruise coming along beautifully! Ouch

I've wrapped a plaster around it to sort of attach to the next toe

I think I've just broken my toe

That looks sore!

It'll heal on its own

But take the lesson... hoovering is dangerous
Don't do it!

Serenitespring · 18/01/2023 20:17

Poor thing!
Can you wiggle it, it’s not actually broken is it?
Can you put a shoe on?

Wolfout · 18/01/2023 20:20

Ouch!
Yes strap it to the next toe (with some cotton wool or soft padding in between). It will take a few weeks to heal.
I stubbed mine in the summer and the toenail went black 🙁

XenoBitch · 18/01/2023 20:23

Strap it to the next toe. Lots of rest, ice and elevation. That is all A&E would tell you to do anyway.

Agreed. Must throw away the hoover immediately!

I did exactly the same a couple of years ago, tripping down the last step of the stairs in bare feet. DH took me to A&E and they told me they would only ever treat a broken big toe. All the others just strap and they will heal on their own.
It was very painful and I have a similar picture Flowers

Hollyhocksandtulips · 18/01/2023 21:26

Oh yes. No plans to go to a and e. Hadn't even crossed my mind. My friend broke her big toe and they only strapped that even so I'm just plastering it and wondering how my feet got so so ugly. Gross up close

lol OP all feet are ugly.... are just stunted little feet hands. I hate them!

Cover them in socks and put them in nice slippers. All sorted.

Ow, ow, ow. I did similar 20 odd years ago. So sore and black and blue after 24/48 hours. Strapping just made it more uncomfortable. I wore woode clogs for about three weeks. Being unable to bend it helped.

If it's any consolation my toes next to the pinky toes are curly like yours.

GoT1904 · 18/01/2023 21:34

I think I broke my little toe last year OP and the pain was horrendous for ages! I did strap it (pop some kitchen towel or cotton between if you can as I didn't initially and it instantly made it more comfortable) still hurts now when I walk on the cold floor.

Fullsomefrenchie · 18/01/2023 21:37

I’ve broken a toe twice, x rayed both times. They just strap it give you a slipper thing and crutches.

you know if you break it. The pain doesn’t stop, you can’t put weight on it. And it swells up significantly.

the good news is they heal quite quickly. They say about
6 weeks but I was fine after a couple to be fair.

EVHead · 18/01/2023 21:40

I broke my middle toe, hobbled off on the bus to A&E only to be told they don’t do anything unless it’s the big toe.

I tried buddy taping but it was more fucking painful than leaving it alone! If anything, that toe is now straighter than before! 😂

Hollyhocksandtulips · 18/01/2023 21:42

I can't unsee finger toes now. The more I look, the weirder they look!! 🤣

Hollyhocksandtulips · 18/01/2023 21:43

Should there be a trigger warning?! 😬😑😑

OP posts:
TheGriffle · 18/01/2023 21:44

We call long finger like toes Tingers in our family. Dh’s side is cursed with them.

HermioneWeasley · 18/01/2023 21:46

If you’re strapping it to the next toe, use a pad of cotton wool to keep it straight - if it is broken, you don’t want to healing at an angle

megletthesecond · 18/01/2023 21:49

I broke my little toe once. I had the most spectacular purple bruising down my foot.
It was fine jogging on it strapped up after a couple of weeks. Didn't stop completely twinging for a few months though.

Laiste · 18/01/2023 21:51

Does it help placing it on some corn on the cob? 😂

I broke my toe a few years ago in a drunken incident on a blanket in Richmond park. It went gradually purple and puffed up (the toe) and looked like a tiny penis for about 3 weeks.

Ice, elevate. Strap to next toe and check daily it’s not too tight, hasn’t gone a funny colour. Did the same a few years ago, looked exactly like yours. Hurt like hell but repaired itself in a few weeks with no problems.
