I think I've just broken my toe

Just stubbed it so hard on my vacuum and it's throbbing and gone white.
Any tips? Other than wine? Feck that hurt ...
Might watch Emily in Paris and apply the emergency frozen peas to it ....

I broke my toe changing a lightbulb. The bruise started in a straight line from the break and spread over the top of my foot. I went to minor injuries to be told I had broken my toe but they don't do anything unless it's wonky. Fortunately I had some trainers that had memory foam in them because normal shoes hurt more when I walked.
I'm 51 this year and so far, touch wood, it's the only bone I've ever broken.

When I broke my big toe, A&E x-rayed it, said "yep, broken" and did absolutely nothing, no strapping at all. It healed crooked and still hurts occasionally nearly 10 years later.

Ouch. You're probably still in bare feet and haven't thought about getting your foot into a shoe yet, but assuming you need to go out of the house over the next few days you might want to test some different shoes tonight... I had to wear flip flops for about a month when I broke my little toe as it couldn't tolerate any touch to the side, which a shoe obviously did. Given it's January and freezing you might have to be more inventive!

I had never broken a bone until I fell down the stairs at my boyfriends parents ( now inlaws) house and my toes smacked against the door frame. Broke 2 toes at the same time. I was taken home by his dad and hobbled into the living room at my parents. I was showing my dad my foot, with my foot outstretched on the floor between us, and my mum came in the room and trod with all her weight on my toes. I was crying at that point. If the door frame didn't break them, my mum definitely did. I was taken to a and e, and had my toes strapped to the toes next to the broken ones, meaning 4 of my toes were strapped up. I was given crutches to help me get around.

Then a few years later, I told my dog to get up as he was lying in the hallway. He didn't move so I stepped over him. Whilst I had one leg either side of him, the dopey thing decided he would now get up, knocking me off balance. I slipped and ended up smacking my toes off another door frame.

Both times, my toes went black and the pain was intense. They were strapped to the next toe with a piece of cotton pad between them to keep them straight.

Fair warning OP - I broke my little toe and the one next to it, diagnosed by x ray. Had to have it checked as I take anticoagulants but all they did was strapping as you have done.

It hurt like a bastard for weeks not helped by hitting it again whilst wearing flip flops All the side of my foot and metatarsals were black and blue and I couldn’t get my foot in shoes for weeks. All fine now but get on the wine now and then ibuprofen for the morning 😂

Wine has been taken. I'll strap with a pad tomorrow. It looks very curled but then so does the other side so maybe I've just got ugly claw feet?

Does it help placing it on some corn on the cob? 😂

I broke my toe a few years ago in a drunken incident on a blanket in Richmond park. It went gradually purple and puffed up (the toe) and looked like a tiny penis for about 3 weeks.

WineFlowers

🤣🤣🤣 at tiny penis

I did this a while back! So painful... I just left it to be honest... it felt better after about 6 weeks, I bumped it a few more times which probably didn't help!!
