Have cream crackers disappeared?

I have been to three different supermarkets this week and none had any. Well I lie, ONE had Jacobs which are ££ and not superior IMO. They used to be everywhere?

I can make my own but It's never been worth it before as they were less than £1 a packet.

Is this the case where you live, or with anything other mainstream/commonplace products?

Yes I've had to resort to Jacobs for dd. They're 3× the price of Sainsburys and not worth it.

I'm obsessed with Jaquet French toast and buy 2 boxes a week from Ocado. I'll be totally lost if they disappear.

SmileWithADimple · 17/01/2023 12:52

Got some Sainsbury's own brand in my delivery today!

Spanielsarepainless · 17/01/2023 12:53

My Sainsbury's had them this morning.

We ended up with Dorianos as well as the usual matzos over the holidays, and they were both fab with cheese and pickles. Didn't really miss the Jacobs crackers tbh.

RB68 · 17/01/2023 12:58

I thought it was just the christmas effect but struggled to find assorted crackers over christmas and normals since. resorted to oat biccies

NancyPickford · 17/01/2023 13:05

I'm eating two Jacobs cream crackers with Red Leicester right now.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 17/01/2023 13:10

I've been looking for Jacobs Cornish wafers for months now
Crossing my fingers they haven't been discontinued

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 17/01/2023 13:12

Last year I regularly bought the extra fibre variety of cream cracker as they've got a bit more flavour, however in the run-up to Christmas they disappeared and in their place there were variety packs of 'crackers for cheese' which I'm not keen on - but it was that or nothing.

Last week - packets of ordinary cream crackers spread out to try and make the shelves not look half-empty. I want my favourites back. First world problem I know.

xogossipgirlxo · 17/01/2023 13:15

None where I live since end of November. Crazy.

SnowAndFrostOutside · 17/01/2023 13:18

I had the same problem. I thought I had gone mad that I can't find cream crackers.

dottiedodah · 17/01/2023 13:19

I noticed this! Had Ritz all over Christmas, due to no crackers anywhere.SB have some but £1.30 per pack .

Yesthatismychildsigh · 17/01/2023 13:26

I appreciate not the same, but jacobs mini cheddars hit the spot. Especially the Red Leicester ones.

123woop · 17/01/2023 13:27

Aldi have loads in! My toddler loves them 😂

Vegetablesupreme · 17/01/2023 13:27

Oh, so that may explain why I couldn't get the packets of twiglets I was craving! I never normally buy them but had been really craving them just before xmas so thought I'd add a couple of packets in with the Christmas food shop. None in asda or sainsbury. Gave up looking and now no longer fancy them!

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 17/01/2023 13:29

It wasn’t me, I didn’t eat them all with a nice bit of Brie (wipes crumbs from corner of mouth), honest!

BarbaraofSeville · 17/01/2023 13:34

I found Cornish wafers in Morrisons last Thursday for the first time since about November, despite looking at least twice a week in a variety of supermarkets as I wanted some at Christmas (normally buy the big mixed boxes, until I realised that I only really like Cornish wafers so decided to just get a packet of those)..

tulips27 · 17/01/2023 13:38

Really tire of the stocking issues over the past few years. I don't have a car so repeatedly going on shopping trips to find one item is more of a burden on me, I'd argue, than someone who can just nip out in a car.

ChicCroissant · 17/01/2023 13:39

We noticed the shortage of crackers before Christmas, but have bought Jacobs crackers recently.

Chasedbythechaser · 17/01/2023 13:42

Jacobs cream crackers are the only ones I like!

I buy a few packs at a time. Not having them in my cupboard would be as bad as not having milk, t-bags, coffee etc

justasking111 · 17/01/2023 13:49

Jacobs factory have been on strike since November twiglets affected too

😂 you missed the crumbs on your lap stern face

justasking111 · 17/01/2023 13:51

I can get their flat breads weirdly

IcakethereforeIam · 17/01/2023 14:06

You can make your own <tiny mind blown>

Moonriver79 · 17/01/2023 14:48

No crackers of any type at my local Asda since way before Christmas

They're actually really simple to make! The only thing I don't like is that I am not the neatest person and mine area always irregular sizes/thickess-perhaps if I did it more often that may improve however.

It isn't usually worth it as they're so cheap-but now we're in an apparent cracker famine I'm going to try to improve :)

Easy to adapt that recipe to add flavours, and I've also tried it without yeast (as I am lazy and often can't be bothered with it)still works.

Maybe I should start my own cracker business delivering to Mumsnetters for cheaper than Jacobs!
