Inexpensive gifts beginning with L ideas needed, please!

Dd1 turns 16 next week & I had the genius idea to do 16 small, and inexpensive, gifts beginning with "L" - I've seen other folks do it & thought it sounded fun 🙄

I have a list of 12, so far, but need 4 (or however many I can get more, if anyone has any ideas.

She's also having a piercing done that she's wanted for a while, a meal out or takeaway, and probably some cash (but not loads!) so they really are just inexpensive bits and bobs.

So far I have, or have on my list...

Lavender edition of T.S. Midnights
Lip balm
Love hearts
Initial pen
Lollipops
Lip oil
Leggings (but seems a bit naff maybe?)
Bodyspray beginning with L
Lounge wear
Lottery ticket
Laptop sticker (need to order tonight, probably)
Lindt of some sort

Tia for any suggestions!

Why do people have to be so rude about how other people want to do gifts.
I think it's a fun idea. 16 items isn't much and most of those could be food/drink/cosmetics/toiletries so it doesn't mean it would be a pile of 'tat'.
Honestly people can be so boring sometimes.
I could easily think of 16 items that would be things I like and would get used and I would love somebody to do something like this for me.
(Although for my next birthday it would have to be 47 items 🙂)

Would she not rather receive a gift she actually wants rather than random stuff shoe horned into a category?

Why do people have to be so rude about how other people want to do gifts.

Because we all have to share what's left of the planet? Just a guess.

@MetaDaughter yes but most of what you could get is things like food/drink/cosmetics/toiletries - things that people use every single day.
If someone gifts me some fancy bubble bath for my birthday it means I don't have to buy any bubble bath that week. I'd still be getting bubble bath whether I buy it or someone else does.
I'm not killing the planet if I get items that are essentially everyday things that I always buy - but they are little bit different than usual- ie a different brand.
Gifts do not have to be earth killing 'tat' - whatever 'tat' actually is. I am never quite sure. Some people call normal everyday things that get used all the time as 'tat' which I find baffling.

M&S do trinket boxes with initial letters. You could put a locket inside for the main present. Then for the 14 others, as PP have said, lots of the suggestions are not what I would consider "tat", eg chocolate, sweets, toiletries, leggings. What a lovely idea, OP, your daughter will enjoy it.

Sunbird24 · 16/01/2023 19:21

Letter - from you, telling her 16 things you love about her or are proud of her for.

Letter - from you, telling her 16 things you love about her or are proud of her for.

Best idea!

StandUpStraight · 16/01/2023 19:38

sunbird24 wins hands down. Am borrowing that idea. 😊😊

lucysmam · 16/01/2023 20:05

Oh crikey, I opened a proper can of worms, didn't I!

Well, for those of you criticising; a lot of the things on my list are things she would use anyway, or things she needs. Why not buy a fancy pen with a letter on it? She'll use it, she has GCSEs coming up, why not write with a nice pen? Loungewear - she changes every day after school. The cd is the one with the bonus tracks - she has every other T.S. cd - why not the copy she actually wanted but couldn't get a signed copy of?

To those of you who have suggested things; thank you. I do appreciate it. I'll have a proper read tomorrow after work, when dd's not mooching about the place.

@Sunbird24 that has given me an idea...she likes the film 10 things I hate about you. I wonder if I could write a poem-ish for her card 🤔 (obviously not "things I hate about you" but...we'll see how far that train of thought goes).

I guess it's just that, for me, a special birthday present shouldnt be something that I would use/buy anyway. I'd rather something that I would never buy myself, and which will last a long time. Jewellery, a special keepsake box, or a good quality bag/coat would tick that box for me.
