Inexpensive gifts beginning with L ideas needed, please!

Dd1 turns 16 next week & I had the genius idea to do 16 small, and inexpensive, gifts beginning with "L" - I've seen other folks do it & thought it sounded fun 🙄

I have a list of 12, so far, but need 4 (or however many I can get more, if anyone has any ideas.

She's also having a piercing done that she's wanted for a while, a meal out or takeaway, and probably some cash (but not loads!) so they really are just inexpensive bits and bobs.

So far I have, or have on my list...

Lavender edition of T.S. Midnights
Lip balm
Love hearts
Initial pen
Lollipops
Lip oil
Leggings (but seems a bit naff maybe?)
Bodyspray beginning with L
Lounge wear
Lottery ticket
Laptop sticker (need to order tonight, probably)
Lindt of some sort

I don't mean to be churlish, but that just sounds like a load of unnecessary stuff that she'll forget about, it's a waste of money, waste of resources generally.

Why buy all that 'stuff' which isn't really wanted or needed, and won't be cherished.

Buy her something she wants or needs, something that she can look back on in a few years and think 'that was a special present from mum for my 16th'

Completely agree with this. Why not buy her one nice thing, doesn't have to be very expensive, maybe something like a bag for college that she will use regularly and remind her of her birthday.

I'm glad your daughter is 'only' 16...I see people saying 'It's my Mum's 70th birthday so I want to buy her 70 things beginning with...' 🤯🤯🤯 I can't think of anything worse than being on the receiving end of it!

But - genuine question - why do they have to begin with the first letter of name? It doesn't make it more fun, it makes it harder, more pointless and more wasteful because you're getting things to fit some silly brief rather than to fit her! Could you not just get 16 nice, uniquely her, well thought out things that she would love for her 16th birthday?

Is she even going to make the L connection? Seems a bit strange to me. If my mum bought me some pjs or whatever I would say "aahhhh Loungewear"

I would have hated this and my children would have hated this but you know your daughter and if she would be happy at opening what is basically a load of tat then so be it.

It sounds fun, but this is an important birthday and everything on that list is very forgettable. For the price of all that (it includes loungewear and leggings so will add up to a fair bit), you could probably buy something more meaningful (a piece of jwellery?) that she'll be able to keep longer term to remember this birthday.

I can guarantee that 5 years later she'll barely be able to remember a single item on that list. But she would remember and treasure one meaningful thing.

I'd limit it to things she'd like/use, but some possibilities:

Something (incense, candle, soap, mini lotion/fragrance) scented with lilac, lemon, limes, lemongrass, lychee, linden, lotus, labdanum, laurel, or leaves.

Something she'd actually use - knickers, socks, etc. - with a lion, lamb, lobster, ladybug, or lizard motif/pattern.

Lapsang Souchung tea

A Labrador Retriever (free from a shelter? Perhaps not!)

If there's an American candy place near you, Life Savers or Lemonheads.
