Hi all,

Am at my wits end with DH's snoring. Have tried to find a pair of earplugs but I'm a slide sleeper with small ears so have been struggling. Can anybody recommend a good pair?

Thanks Smile

I use the purple Macks slimfit earplugs. (Amazon).

They're good and being a habitual earplug wearer, they are far less hurty then any other earplug I've tried over the years!

I use Bose sleep buds. They're not cheep, but they've been a game changer. DP snores like a foghorn, and white noise at about 3/4 volume cuts out about most of his snorting and grunting.

Boots own brand Muffles wax ones, cut in two as they are quite large. Good luck whatever you try.

Second the Muffles wax ones.

I get the 3M ones from Amazon. Has your partner tried snore strips?

Iam4eels · 15/01/2023 19:13

How bad is his snoring? DH was a bad snorer and I sent him to the GP as it was destroying my sleep, they referred him for a sleep study and it turns out he has sleep apnoea.

Also a side sleeper with little ears. Loop quiet earplugs as so comfy, I sleep so well in them. Inexpensive too

Second Bose sleep buds. Game changer for me I wouldn't be without them

I use the pink ones which are even smaller and softer. I can use the purple ones so can switch between the two but Mack’s all the way.
totally recommend

I use these they are great for dealing with snoring husbands

When I’m on nights I swear by the swimming ones that are pliable to fit your ears. Amazing!

Nat6999 · 15/01/2023 20:06

I use the Wutan earplugs, I don't even hear anyone hoovering outside my bedroom door. Have you tried monitoring you dh snoring to prove how loud it actually is to him? My Samsung watch & phone have snoring monitoring on the Samsung health app.

alannahc14 · 15/01/2023 20:07

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of the recommendations, will have a look online. I suspect DH has the beginnings of sleep apnoea so he definitely needs some investigation. If it wasn't bad enough that I'm being woken up by him at night, I'm also peri-menopausal so my sleep pattern was already in bits! Feel like crying.

Bio Ears

Flare audio sleeep. Come in different sizes. I use the small foam pads. Has saved my marriage!

How bad is his snoring? DH was a bad snorer and I sent him to the GP as it was destroying my sleep, they referred him for a sleep study and it turns out he has sleep apnoea.

Did the GP/hospital say anything about not being looked to drive whilst they were investigating the sleep apnoea? I asked my boyfriend to go to the docs about his snoring and he said about bit being allowed to drive. When I looked at NHS/DVLA it is rather unclear.

Iam4eels · 15/01/2023 21:01

Driving is allowed provided you are being treated and the treatment is effective. When they do the sleep study they give you a score which basically works out how tired you are, so long as its below the most severe end of the scale you're fine to drive - DH was told he can drive but to make the same sort of "am I too tired?" assessment as every other driver should before setting off every time.

He got the results of the sleep study the day after doing it (you take the little overnight monitor back to the clinic the day after using it and they do it there and then) and was given his c-pap machine that day too. Its calibrated to the pressure he needs for his degree of sleep apnoea and its so effective. I like the machine too as it makes a soft, soothing "sssssh" noise like a white noise machine.

Really ? I'm considering these. How much do they block out ?

Imicola · 15/01/2023 21:09

Bio ears were revolutionary for me! Like plasticine to mould into your ears!

prettyrainbows · 15/01/2023 21:18

Hush Plugz earplugs, cheap off eBay. I wear these every night as my DH is a loud snorer! Ive tried loads and most fall out during sleep. They are silicon so squeeze and mold to fit into your ear, so comfortable and I rarely wake as it dulls down/eradicates any background noise. I hear my alarm go off fine in the mornings though oddly, I must be tuned to the sound of it on some level!

paintitallover · 15/01/2023 21:26

@alannahc14 Please update us if you have a solution in the future. DH is similar. I found the Mack's purple advertised on here too big.

NumericalBlock · 15/01/2023 21:34

I use the pink and yellow laser lites. They are the best I've tried over the years with DH. You squish them and they expand in your ear so fit snugly but not too uncomfortably.

Catonlapfireon · 15/01/2023 21:36

I get these mouldable one (photo hopefully attached) from home bargains, cheap as chips and tbh they are an absolute life saver. I’ve tried out many different types of ear plugs but these stop so much noise.
