Someone selling coasters with tea splattered all over them. I'm honestly gobsmacked.

Maybe it's the same seller that has been trying to sell a very stained white chopping board on Ebay for a few years. You can get a nice clean new one for less.

Cuppasoupmonster · 15/01/2023 10:55

The absolute shit people sell for the maddest prices 😆 toddler clothes bundle being sold near me the other day - 3 t shirts and 3 leggings (supermarket brands) - they wanted £10 ‘selling cheap because paint stains from nursery’

fucking seriously?!

Blossomandbee · 15/01/2023 13:21

They look more like decking offcuts than coasters!

IHaveEmotionalMotionSickness · 15/01/2023 13:28

I saw someone selling ONE doc Martin sandal 😳. The photo was her modelling the one sandal 😂. And even worse she was selling it for SIXTY QUID

Those coasters could be nice if they were cleaned up - by the seller! I don't understand why people attempt to sell dirty stuff, aren't they embarrassed? Worst is when they say "just needs a wipe/ just needs a quick iron". Just do it yourself then and it might sell!

Oh God yes, I hate this! If it "just needs a wipe" then bloody well wipe it. It usually needs a lot more than a little wipe.

Yeah, that’ll be for shoe pervs not fashion buyers.

Raspberry290 · 15/01/2023 16:51

Maybe they’re in an absolutely desperate situation

What's that got to do with it? My point is not to make fun of people for selling used items, its the fact that it hadn't been cleaned beforehand. Even a quick wipe would have helped! (And if you are desperate, even more reason to make it more sellable)

Willing to bet they’re not.

Wdib78 · 15/01/2023 18:17

Someone crafty like myself may want to sand them down and paint them to upcycle them

There some "individuals " on ebay that will pay good money for well worn smelly shoes 😷 the reasons why I will let you work out for yourself 😅

They’re welcome to mine for a few quid

TheChosenTwo · 15/01/2023 18:26

I think I’m looking for things all wrong on Vinted/EBay.
I’ve tried to be more mindful about buying things, not that I’ve ever been someone who bought loads of clothes.
I’ve never found a single item on either of them that I’d want to buy. I’ve tried being quite specific in the search bar all the way down to just the category - nada. How are people finding things?!

TheChosenTwo · 15/01/2023 18:28

And just to add to the coaster discussion, I think it’s crap that the seller hasn’t attempted to clean them before trying to sell them. If you were on the bones of your arse and desperate for a fiver wouldn’t you make an effort to get them looking vaguely presentable? (And then stick them on a Facebook selling site where someone would turn up to your house and hand you over the cash there and then?)

TrentCrimm · 15/01/2023 18:33

I imagine they're stains, rather than spills (that can be wiped off)

I dunno really, every time someone posts on here that they're desperate for cash, within the first few responses someone usually asks if they have anything they can sell

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/01/2023 18:35

Oh dear.

Perhaps they need the money so are chancing their arm. I like that they felt the need to add to the description that it adds to the look. Quite a chasm between rustic and filthy isn't there, but perhaps not to the untrained eye..

I just search by the shops I like and filter by size. Often there's not much but then if you keep checking back someone will add something! I've had a few really good White Stuff buys on vinted, I know their sizing will fit me. For some reason SeaSalt stuff is always priced far too high for me. When I first started buying on vinted I was looking for jeans but it's impossible to be sure people aren't selling skinny or slim fit jeans without asking them - ended up with some bloody jeggings by mistake once!

I saw this too 🤮

iklboo · 15/01/2023 19:16

I always raise my eyebrows at 'just needs a clean' sales adverts. Bloody clean it before you sell it!

Raspberry290 · 15/01/2023 20:17

Based on what?

So what exactly IS the point to your thread?

TheChosenTwo · 15/01/2023 20:28

@Zogthebiggestdragon i think you’ve identified it for me, thanks!!
I’m the type of shopper who literally buys something when desperately needed, eg my favourite black dress has has fallen to bits and needs replacing, (I’m basically not a browser, I shop only when looking to replace something) so I will be typing something like ‘black shirt dress’ or whatever in the search box. I didn’t really think to just type in the specific shop that I’d normally buy things from!
maybe I’ll give that a go next time.
Thank you 💐

Zogthebiggestdragon · 15/01/2023 20:32

@thechosentwo hope it works for you! It's really odd on Vinted, different shops / labels seem to have their own prices and rules. But I've had great luck with Fat Face and White Stuff, less so with SeaSalt and so on.

iklboo · 15/01/2023 21:31

So what exactly IS the point to your thread?

OP explains it in the post you quoted! That the seller couldn't be arsed giving the coasters a quick wipe to remove the tea stains.

There’s no ‘point’ to most threads. They’re general chat, or amusing, or to complain. Just the way I like it. Why does everything need a ‘point’?
