Do you prefer coffee or tea?

I just read a thread about how much coffee people drink and lots of posters said 3, 4 or 5 coffees in a day! I only occasionally drink coffee if I am meeting a friend and I don’t even enjoy it tbh.

At home I would always drink a cup of tea in the morning and maybe one in the afternoon and it’s water the rest of the time.

Are you a coffee or tea person?

2 coffees in the morning then green tea the rest of the day, other than that water and wine.

fitflopqueen · 14/01/2023 22:28

Tea, love it but fussy, at home only certain bone china mugs. Coffee - take it or leave it, occasional flat white when out but not bothered if I didn't have again.

ShowerOfShite · 14/01/2023 22:28

Coffee is my favourite drink, have a wonderful bean to cup machine which I use 8-10 times per day.
Unfortunately I can only have decaffeinated these days, so rarely as strong as I'd like.
Also love tea but it doesn't agree with me, instant vomiting. I do miss a big mug of builders tea.

I probably prefer a cup of coffee to tea but don’t like to drink too much coffee, I usually have 2-3 cups a day and wouldn’t typically have more than 4 and wouldn’t drink coffee after 5pm. I wouldn’t limit cups of tea across a day, there are days I probably have 8+ cups and I would happily drink tea right up to bedtime. If I’m unwell tea is my go-to drink whereas coffee feels too heavy, tea just feels right for any situation whereas a coffee definitely feels like more of an occasion.

WinterFoxes · 14/01/2023 22:29

Coffee. I drink tea all day long (about 8 cups a day!) But I start the day with two or three coffees and really enjoy them.

I drink tea more at home because I prefer it, but coffee more when I'm anywhere else. I can drink coffee in any form, but I'm very particular about how tea is made.

So as long as either I or someone I've trained is making the tea then I'd be happier only drinking tea forevermore.

How do you prefer your tea if I may ask?

Tessisme · 14/01/2023 22:31

Tea for me! Lovely, proper, loose leaf tea. Strong. Threatened with milk.

I do drink coffee, but I'm a bit hit and miss at making it, so only 2 or 3 a week, or I'll have one in a coffee shop.

MyOldCaravan · 14/01/2023 22:42

Coffee. I start the day with a cup of tea in bed, but then have 2 or 3 coffees throughout the morning.

Afternoon it's always redbush tea or decaf coffee.

I'm always highly suspicious of people that don't drink tea or coffee 🤔

AnneShirleysNewDress · 14/01/2023 22:46

Tea. I've never tasted coffee as I can't bear the smell. I have enough in the cupboard to start a shop.

golddustwomen · 14/01/2023 22:51

Tea for me. I can't bare the taste or smell of coffee.

Yesterdaywasntreal · 14/01/2023 22:54

I like a coffee in the morning, and a tea in the afternoon. If I had to choose I'd say I'm definately more of a coffee person.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 14/01/2023 22:55

Coffee. Coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee.

Then tea later in the afternoon.

Youdoyoubabe · 14/01/2023 22:55

tea, tea, tea. Perhaps a Latte now and then if in a cafe but then tea, tea and more tea.

Littleguggi · 14/01/2023 22:56

Wowwellokthen · 14/01/2023 22:57

Upsidedownagain · 14/01/2023 22:58

Tea - 2 to 4 times a day. Coffee - once in a blue moon.

fairtrauchled · 14/01/2023 23:06

Decaffeinated tea 2-3 cups a day and I'll have a cup of coffee about once every couple of weeks.

BashfulClam · 14/01/2023 23:07

Tea is disgusting and the smell
makes me heave. I have about 3-4 coffees a day.

NothingButSpace · 14/01/2023 23:11

How weird. I don’t think tea smells of anything!

I drink weak decaf coffee. I like a warm drink that doesn’t taste of much.

Pointless anecdote incoming.

Back in early March 2020, I made a cup of coffee at work and tried to ignore the sounds of kids coughing in the corridor where their older siblings had recently come back from a half term trip to Northern Italy and had passed their 'colds' onto them. I was distracted by something for a while and then came back to what I thought would be a vaguely warm coffee - not perfect, but acceptable when we were so busy.

It kind of tasted how I imagined the water from cleaning a neglected fishtank would, vaguely dirty, so I thought I must have had a brain fart and forgotten to boil the kettle first or somebody had topped the kettle up whilst I was distracted. I made another and began to get really worried when I couldn't smell it or taste more than this vaguely stagnant puddle water essence with no texture.

After a few minutes of absolute fear because I was on immune supressing medication, I noticed an empty jar in the bin just as the PA came in and airily declared that we'd run out of normal coffee but not to worry, she'd filled the tub with decaf and nobody would ever be able to tell the difference.

I aged more in those minutes than in the preceding five years. And all because of sodding decaf.

LuckyPeonies · 14/01/2023 23:21

1 large black coffee in the a.m., one large chai in the afternoon. Water throughout the day.

PritiPatelsMaker · 14/01/2023 23:23

Always Tea!

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 14/01/2023 23:25

I'm surprised more people don't say both!

I need a strong double-shot coffee (use a moka) first thing to wake me up. May have another 1-2 during the day especially if I'm out. I live abroad so the coffee is much better than any tea options!

At home I have Yorkshire Tea so I'd probably have 2-3 mugs a day as well. Less in summer.

Rare for a day to go by where I don't drink both though.

AdoraBell · 14/01/2023 23:28

I prefer coffee, usually 3 or 4 per day and 2 cups of tea. I also drink water.

sunshineandshowers40 · 14/01/2023 23:39

Love tea. Need a cup first thing every day.
