Even though I'm a nurse I have no idea what's going on with me lately

I was ill between Xmas and new year, thought it was the rubbish AI drinks - had diarrhoea, nausea, persistent tiredness, couldn't stomach alcohol

Came home on 3rd Jan and felt a bit better when I started eating better
Then been away for 2 nights, same again, was sick after food, not enjoying alcohol, slept 12 hours, could eat anything but toast at breakfast
Now stomach cramps and nausea, bloated, tired

Gallstones? Are you worse after eating fatty foods.

Ursuala · 13/01/2023 17:13

Sounds like you have eaten something both occasions that have disagreed with you.
same happened to me…. 4 days apart.
i narrowed it down to…. Quorn.

that evil stuff will never pass my lips again!

Tiani4 · 13/01/2023 17:13

I was going to say pregnant too Grin

Or you caught the D&V bug doing the rounds, it's almost noro virus worthy. If you're under the weather it might not have fully shifted . Buy some actively yoghurt drinks, rest and go easy on the partying.

Shinyrain · 13/01/2023 17:15

Sucessinthenewyear · 13/01/2023 17:17

TomAllenWife · 13/01/2023 17:20

Haha! It does sound like gallstones OP, is the pain in any particular place? When I get a flare up I get really run down and feel unwell all over basically. Falling asleep at 8 every night and joint pain.

Sort of relevant to your OP

TomAllenWife · 13/01/2023 17:34

Gallstones is usually way more painful though

Not necessarily. Mine have only been really bad briefly on a few occasions. Usually just a niggle.

rayssunshineeverywhere · 13/01/2023 17:42

As I entered peri-menopause I became intolerant to more things (I've always had IBS). For instance, I used to be able to eat an amount of gluten before I reacted but now I can't eat any. Also certain sugars whereas they didn't affect me at all when I was younger. If it continues I'd have a look at FODMAP and consider excluding things.

JaneJeffer · 13/01/2023 17:43

Gastritis

atteatimeeverybodyagrees · 13/01/2023 17:44

Ovarian cyst

Mariposista · 13/01/2023 17:44

Could it be food poisoning OP. Not all types disappear within 24 hours. I had campylobacteras a teenager and was ill for over a month and for up to 9 months if I ate anything rich (as you will probably have done over xmas/NY) it gave me a terrible stomach.

declutteringmymind · 13/01/2023 17:44

I'd say an irritated stomach. Sometimes after a big it can take a while for the liking to recover and the gut bacteria to reestablish ( I'm not a doctor tho). However, if symptoms persist get it checked out.

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 13/01/2023 17:45

My best pal felt like that with COVID. The relapse was triggered by a glass of wine.

Beaucielblues · 13/01/2023 17:48

I feel exactly the same. Pretty sure it's some kind of Covid or big or virus.

minticecreamisjustok · 13/01/2023 17:49

gastroenteritis can last weeks, had this once and lived on dry toast and water for two weeks.

TomAllenWife · 13/01/2023 18:09

I had something similar in the summer which was eventually covid
The GP thought it was campylobacter then

I think I need to have a week on bland foods & water

What I really fancy is tinned spaghetti over oven chips

OP posts:
Ursuala · 13/01/2023 18:24

If you’re craving chips and spaghetti hoops…. I can’t see how you’re feeling that nauseous!

the very mention of food had me gagging!
