Useless household articles

I admit I'm having a bad day, partly provoked by not being able to find the 4 packs of discounted Christmas cards I bought in Monday having had to pay a fortune last minute this Christmas.
Anyway I also acquired a melon baller and sat down to enjoy my healthy fruit based lunch but rather than creating delightfully delicate bubbles of melon I ended up with wet strips of melon. It may well have been my technique but I'm blaming the bastarding melon baller. Tell me what arsehole household articles you have had to grapple with recently. Also if you know what I did with the cards please share.....

I've got a pair of grape scissors. Scissors specifically for cutting a small selection of grape off a bunch.

Got them as a present many years ago.

Unusual alright, and fairly pointless!

I have a very pretty pair of decorative grape scissors which are as useful as trying to snip off sections using a spoon! Completely blunt.

My mother in law loves a kitchen gadget, while I'm the opposite.
If it's bulky, only does one thing...rotary Apple peeler... Nope.
If it's bulky and does lots of things... Magimix... Yes.
If it's small and only does one thing (possibly bought in a moment of weakness in Lakeland) ... Grapefruit knife... Yes but it gets forgotten about in a drawer.

However I do have a knife weakness and have well over a dozen...

Wow, I was not aware such things existed! I try to pinch a bunch off and instead of admitting defeat and grabbing the nearest pair of scissors, I end up fighting the damn things until I've got grapes everywhere and just a bare stalk.
I have a donut maker, DD insisted we needed. It's been used twice in ten years 🙄
I bought a washing up tidy (grey metal thing with compartments and says washing up in fancy writing, in case you couldn't work it out), which is only used to hold one old toothbrush, one peg and a sealant finishing tool. Totally pointless.

Recently got a veg basket steamer that fits over different sized pans…cannot work out how to use it …just collapses inside the saucepan!

Show us a photo to see if anyone else has one that stays put

We have a drawer compartment full of those rubbery stoppers you're supposed to use with a pump-the-air-out thing to seal unfinished wine bottles.
Far simpler to put the screw cap back on and drink it tomorrow.

We have these. Never used. Not because they are useless but we find it's just best to finish the bottle...

I bought a pricey and fancy garlic press and it leaves literally half of every garlic clove uncrushed and sat in the slot as one big lump. One has to put a second garlic clove in to push through the first one, then is left with half of the second one uncrushed!

Garlic solutions are my nemesis. Fuck all the crushers. They are terrible. The only way is the garlic car. Hilarious and very very effective.

I admire the restraint shown on this thread.

No one has mentioned their DH or DP, or older child!!

My DH is far from useless, and my children were both expected to become competent members of the household as appropriate and so, they did!

I don’t have any useless gadgets. Stopped buying them years ago as I can’t stand clutter.

@TheHauntedPencilCase keep trying! You’ll master it eventually...

Also I’ve decided I definitely need a melon baller. That will be my frivolous buy for this month!
