Feeling like Emma Thompson in love actually

Making breakfast for the kids, dog, dh. Bustling everyone about to get ready for the day. My heart is actually breaking and I am fucking gutted.

Me and dh took the dog out for a walk early this morning and it was really lovely. Then I was bursting and couldn't hold it in. Dh was walking ahead and I just out of no where flooded myself. Not only that but poo ran down my leg also.

I walked back with him apparently none the wiser. Got in and jumped in the shower.

I am so absolutely mortified and embarrassed..any help on this and what I can do to stop it happening again.

I am honestly not a dirty troll and mumsnet can vouch for this.

I feel humiliated and old. Is this it my body gave up on me?

I am early 40s 2 kids. Never done pelvic exercises because I walked loads.

I just want to cry. But putting a brave face on for the day.

Thanks for any help you can give 💐

Big hug.

Our bodies let us down sometimes. It’s not really a big deal - there’s no harm done.

Treat yourself as you’d treat a friend it had happened to, and in future, make sure you pay attention to yourself. I bet you were so busy rushing around looking after kids/dog/husband that you forgot to take a second to check whether you needed the loo!

You probably have a diarrhoea bug. There’s lots of it about

Not sure about the Emma Thompson comparison though. Did she shit herself in Love Actually ? 😊

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:08

Thanks so much @DuncanBiscuits you are right. Rushing about making sure everyone is ok. I know in time this will be a memory. But right now I am petrified that my body has gave up and this is the future. Fingers crossed that it's just a blip. Hope you have a lovely day 💐

I want to assure you OP that this is a tiny thing in the fullness of life - and I speak of someone who has had very similar happen. At work. While talking to the boss. Do you feel okay? Any history of this happening before? Maybe worth getting checked out.

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:10

@AnyFucker 😂😂😂🤪 no but. I am totally doing the whole brave wife/mum thing after the necklace. Aww totally didn't even think about a bug. I really hope it is that.

I had issues when I had a b12 deficiency. Might be worth looking to see if any of the more common symptoms fit?

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:18

@OrlandointheWilderness in front of the boss. How did you recover from that?

I feel ok and it's not happened before. I was thinking should I see my gp about this?

OP posts:
MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:19

Thanks @Mummieslncorporated will look into vitamin B12 deficiency.

To make you feel better...

The wee thing happened to me at my DS' party on a trampoline while I was pretending to be a young and cool mum. (I am neither). Luckily a bunch of 4 year olds are unphased by someone pissing themselves because they do it all the time! I wiped the trampoline off and they kept bouncing while I died quietly inside.

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:30

@Vinvertebrate that so makes you a cool mum in my eyes. I think its just shock for me. A slap in the face that... I am middle aged.

Op your first paragraph and the comparison to love actually really convinced me you were about to say you've found out about an affair or something, not that you shit yourself !!

See the funny side, it's happened to the best of us ! I remember being a child (about 8) and shitting myself on the stairs in front of the provy lady, my mom always jokes at least it got rid of her 😆😆

As a pp suggested, possibly a bug. Or could it be new medication ??
When I used to take metformin I had a few near misses, my god that stuff is horrendous !

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:44

@davegrohll it would be easier to take on if dh was having an affair rather than a pissing and shitting wife in all honesty Blush😂

aww your mum sounds fab 😁

Not on any medication but I have been wondering if have diabetes lately.

Thanks for the head wobble. Just feeling like the best years are gone now.

@MzLucky it was actually as we were standing around chatting at the end of the day and I worked outside. I made my excuses and quickly legged it to my car. Where I proceeded to drive 15 minutes home while the situation did NOT improve.
I don't think the boss actually noticed!

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 09:49

@OrlandointheWilderness that was a lucky escape. Hope your car was ok.

Emma Thompson smoothed the bed in a devastating manner.
She didn't have an accident. 🤣
Be kind to yoyrself. Have as relaxing a day as you can manage and try your best to forget about it.
It can't have been that dramatic if your dh didn't notice!

ManyNameChanges · 05/01/2023 09:50

I would see a GP about it Esp if you dint have any other symptoms of a bug.

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/01/2023 10:02

@MzLucky thanks to an old wax jacket in the car it survived without a lasting impression! 😂

Oh I absolutely wet myself through in a mosh pit once, then had to sit in a friends car home. Absolutely mortifying. Tried and failed to brazen it out.

I now wear tenna lady if I'm going to bounce.

It shouldn't happen in your age though. Are you feeling OK health wise? Sounds like pelvic floor or you simply didn't have time to think of going to toilet? It happens. Sometimes when you have to go, then you have to.

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 10:06

@ManyNameChanges think I will see if I can get an appointment.

@Highlyflavouredgravy I pray he didn't notice. Enjoying a cup of tea and thankful you lovely lot have made me see sense.

MzLucky · 05/01/2023 10:14

@YellowHpok thank you for sharing. Hopefully one day soon this won't be as mortifying for me. Will stock up on tenna lady.

No idea how to clean my wellies Confused

@xogossipgirlxo yeah I feel ok in myself. In all honesty not got a clue what to do with pelvic floor. Will look up on google/see if I can chat with gp. The thing is I went to the loo before our walk. I thought that I would be fine but no... big massive gush waterfall.

Just thinking actually. Wondering if I could have a uti.

Vinvertebrate · 05/01/2023 10:15

@xogossipgirlxo I am in my late 40's and menopausal! So yeah, old mum, big fat bouncing baby doing push-ups on my pelvic floor, hello stress incontinence....

It only ever happened on a trampoline so I just avoid them!

Deathraystare · 05/01/2023 10:22

This is why I try to wear long tunics at work and hate the summer cos I cant wear long coats! Due to a variety of illnesses I take quite a lot of tablets. One is a wee tablet and two more that the side effects are pissing for England (technical term strangely not on packet!).
